The fact that LSU is in the Top 5, three times, is insane to me, LSU deserves credit where its due when it comes to having tough schedules year in and year out.
As someone from Nebraska I always hear people talk about the ’71 and ’95 teams, but I had no fucking idea that the ’71 team was that fucking dominant
There is a reason when ESPN was doing a tourney style bracket of the best CFB teams of all time, 71 and 95 faced off in the final.
As a Nebraska fan, I was excited that you mentioned that 95' team but when you showed the extra bar above 08' Florida for the "greatest of all time", I knew immediately it'd be 71'. Thanks for this video and GO BIG RED!
Same, as a Nebraska fan I knew he was hiding something. Cause I know their end of year stats have been available. So when he didn't mention them I was like wait a minute.... Also fucking suck it Kirk herbstreit.
Nebraska has the top two best teams of all time. 71 and 95 Skers in that order.
but you suck now, lmao
Your channel is great, I like your style and unique take on old ideas. I’m sure if you keep at it this channel is on the verge of huge growth.
Do NFL teams next
2013 FSU was something special. Love that team
No you don't
they def should be no 1. I dont think any of these teams could beat them time and time again
The only way Auburn got close was by stealing our signs and once we knew that it was game over
2011 Ok state was screwed out of a BCS appearance
TRUE!
they weren't better than alabama everyone knew that then
I wish Oklahoma state wouldn’t have choked. Because then LSU would have won another natty.
@@tpm2637lsu wouldn't have won
I really would have liked the Alabama vs OK State game happen as a play in, just so everyone would understand the gap between Alabama, LSU, and everyone else.
2008 Florida played #1 and #2 in back to back weeks to finish the season. One Nick Saban led monster and the other against Big Game Bob and the most potent offense in the history of college football at that time. That OU team had scored at least 60 in each of their last 6 games heading into the title game only to be held to 14 points in a loss. All credit goes to Major Wright in that game as he punked the entire OU team on the opening drive when he took the head off of Iglesias. Hooyah mother fuckers, we are the best!
Yessir Go Gators
but you never played 2008 Utah. and we were all robbed of a chance for Urban to face off against his sucessor at Utah. Kyle Whittingham. And seeing as we beat bama better than yall that year it probably would have been one of the greatest games of all time where we come out on top. But hey we're 1-0 against Bama.
@@JIKwoodCope and seethe
@@JIKwooddon't kid yourself, 08 Florida would mop the floor with that Utah team. Ever see what happens when a Saban disciple plays Saban? Same thing happens with Meyers tree. The only reason Utah beat Bama is because Florida has already beaten them and taken away all of their goals. That Bama team couldn't have cared less about that bowl game. Florida had already taken the natty and SEC title away from them.
@@mikeschmidt4800 well seeing as Meyer is retired and didn't have the best reputation when he did and Kyle is still going strong at Utah and is loved here. I'd say Whit and his boys would have one that year. our SoS has always held us back. shame it didn't for our rival. IF SoS wasn't considered for us and we were let in to those games in 04 and 08 we could have possibly gotten 2 national titles.
Video idea. How about ranking each unranked vs #1 upset by how outmatched the unranked team was. This could also be expanded to unranked vs top 3 or 5 but thats a lot more and harder to do.
man took notes from summoning salt and i love it
I love how summoning salt is universally loved in the story telling community
2021 Cincinnati not being here is genuinely a shock to me. 13-0 with nine bowl games you'd think they would be but I guess the Indiana, Navy, Tulsa gauntlet held them back along with the low PPG lmao
A lot of teams on this list had close wins. I dunno why Cincinnati was missed out. Maybe they scored too little points(but they still allowed very little)? You may wanna update this too. Michigan looked good.
"What does it mean?" Prestige. Outside the numbers, college football judgements are based on prestige, both in any team and their strength of schedule, not on actual ability or performance. Prestige is by far the most weighted element of college football, and this is what stirs the drink, from collection of talent to conference realignment that continues to narrow things toward a professional league today.
What a great video. All it needs is a little cleanup, pacing and the production will be elite. Love the concepts and the enthusiasm, I feel like I learn something through them… however intangible the learning is. Even if you don’t ever make another video, I will still appreciate the ones you’ve made. Ty
thank you for the feedback! some things got screwed up due to trying to circumvent some copyright issues but in general i think a little extra polishing wouldve done wonders, and dont worry im onto the next one 👍
This video made my day with that 71 huskers jumpscare! Also need a vid about that 2003 MAC conference, becasue it sounds incredible
You are legit a hidden gem, love your work dude!
I love the way you combine the music with these videos. Always informative and great stuff.
As a nebraska fan seeing '95 squad drop to 4 was disappointing, I figured with that kind of average margin of victory they'd be higher. I didn't know the 71 team was even that good since I wasn't even around for the 95 squad or Eric Crouch's Heisman year. Let's just say that following the team just as they entered the Frost era was disappointing.
Love your work man. This is exactly what I was looking for. Sb nation needs to sign you fr
great work, absolutely love these videos man!! as a nebraska fan i am so glad you looked at us as honorable mentions bc i was so sad that we were gonna slip under the radar only looking at the 21st century haha. i like to live in our glory days still
I have the 1995 championship game on DVD as a kid, and I used to watch late at night when everybody else was a asleep... also had a biography of Tommy Frazier after he developed health issues and retired from football. Wish he made it pro
I had the VHS tape and wore it out!
I love these style of videos. Great job man.
i adore the editing style on these videos
Man I recently subscribed and I love seeing you pop up in my feed. You’re a great content creator man! On top of being very knowledgeable and well spoken. Cheers to your good work!
Love your videos , great presentation . I hope this gains traction you deserve plenty of success
2019 lsu is really just insane. arguably the two best wrs in nfl with arguably the second best qb in the nfl
Thank you for a wonderful video, you make amazing content!
Loved both videos! They were amazing ideas and the formula is awesome! Could you make the spreadsheet available?
Bro I have been loving all you videos. Keep up the amazing work. I know the subs you deserve will come
Just found your channel yesterday and I’ve loved all your CFB videos, keep up the great work
Currently doing this
Another banger! Loving your uploads, can obviously tell you put in a lottt of effort
great vid as always
1995 Nebraska Florida game, now in sepia tone! Ha, I'm getting old. Btw, Nebraska played three top ten teams that year.
What a great video, as someone who grew up a USC fan in the early 2000’s I used to argue they were the best of all time. A kid I went to school with would fight me that Nebraska was the best team of all time, we were like 7-8 at the time but little did I know he was totally right lol.
we need part two of college football history🙏🏻🙏🏻
9:06 Don’t doubt the power of MACtion
Love your videos
Big Ben is loving this young, young succulent list.
Love your work big bro
Nice work. Thought this channel had way more subs. Professional writing and editing
One of Nebraska's strengths in the '70s through the '90s was their ability to bail players out of jail each week.
2001 Miami Hurricanes are the first team to come to mind for me
A team before the invention of the forward pass and both world wars. I’m sure that they are the greatest
1995 Nebraska team was the greatest of all time…
They were pretty spectacular!
72 USC.
UNDERRATED CHANNEL🐐🐐🔥
Just subbed to your channel, love what you’re doin!
Your music taste is elite
I simply cannot believe you don't have more views. Will be here to celebrate when you bust through king. However, Go Vols!
We need more group of 5 content love that shit
it was tebow's gators. i am not at all biased from growing up in gainesville at that time
I lived in Gainesville at that time too.. it's still the 2019 LSU team, without a doubt.
@@billS560 nah tebow wins by 1 point bc he rocked the monk haircut and burrow didn't
2017 Alabama had Mac Jones as the 3rd stringer, too.
Nah that slowed down version of “Rock With You” went crazy 🔥 😂
95’ Nebraska, argument over, statistically the most dominant team ever
#GBR!
pre 2000 team
You made my day with that 08 Gators ranking... I've been saying that for years
16:47 is that benzoin gum by DOOM i hear? i’m a fan of your music choices for transitions, good sir 🫡
War Damn Eagle! 🦅 Cam really did single-handedly will Auburn to a national title 😂 He was just that good! A little surprised our 2013 team didn’t make the list somewhere considering we had an all-time elite rushing attack, but oh well
the nfl can maybe be evaluated with stats but college football is a vibes-based sport
For those wondering, I ran a rough calculation using this method on the 2023 national champions, the Michigan Wolverines, and their score came out to a 1621.10. Which would put them right behind 2020 Alabama. I will admit this could be off as I couldn't quite figure out their SOS multiplier and just set it to .05 which I think is underselling them given the fact they were in the CFP era which helps inflate SOS scores. Still though they are according to this stat the best Big Ten team of the 21st century
Good job man!
no good job on the subs, gotta step up my game here
@@empire1800you've got this!
I'm shocked even with ur formula that 05 Texas was so low they were blowing out everyone and i thought the wins at Ohio State and USC would prop them up more along with the unbeaten record
9:01 and a one win Florida………..International 🤣🤣🤣🤣 as an FAU OWLS fan I absolutely love it
I wonder where 1999-2000 oregon state was with chad Johnson and tj the bengals dynamic duo in the 2000s for carson palmer. Probably a defense and schedule thing keeping them off.
two of my favorite things are combined in this channel. Vaporwave and college football. Bless you youtube algorithm for bringing me to this place. !
you are not ready for what i just posted lmao
I shall prepare myself and hold fast for all the vaporwave dank cfb wonder you can produce. @@empire1800
interesting high quality video bro
Go Gators. I will use this vid as proof every time I say we had the best team ever now
Love the doom beats!!
2004 and 2008 Utah hould've been able to play in the national championship games. Change my mind.
2008, Ya. 2004 No Way.
Our 2010 Boise state team was probably better than the 2009 team we were consistently ranked 2 and 3 in the bcs, we had that loss to nevada ( still haunts me to this day 13 years later) who was a top 20 team. We didn’t manage to get into a bcs bowl because of that and we went and destroyed the opponent in the bowl. People thought if Boise kept winning there would be a chance they’d be in the national championship. But that 09 team was great still.
How was Houston better than us though I’m kinda mad about that because they finished 19th we finished 7th they lost their championship and they got blown out in the cusa championship.
@@MJGOAT like the guy said just kind of a weird formula in the system.
@@cd2_ I’m still pissed how do we get screwed over again more than a decade later
Just as we expected : no Notre Dames, no Michigans. Some schools simply win on name, popularity with pollsters and some recognition of legacy and tradition. Which is college football, too. 🏈
GOOO GATORS!!! Even I did not expect 2008 FLA to make the top of the list. But even I underestimated that team.
another elite video, only thing to say is that wisconsin didn’t win the big ten west in 2015 (i am legally obligated to say this as an iowa fan) but keep up the work 👍
You can do a 30 for 30 on that 2008 Gators team
This is some great work man. What was the name of the song you used for the 71 Nebraska section
SAINT PEPSI - vanilla pepsi [マクロスMACROSS 82-99 Edit]
LSU being mentioned 3 times in the top 5 was not on my bingo card. Geaux tigahs ✊
Love the channel. Can we get a tracklist? Love the doom stuff but don't know some of these tunes
Lsu truly is one of the best programs of the 21st century lol
as a guy from hawaii its cool to see hawaii up here
Im a gator fan, im glad you put us at the top.
After Nebraska thumped Alabama in the Orange Bowl Bear Bryant said he had never been beaten so bad. He was in awe of the sheer size of the Nebraska players. Frame and muscle.
2008 was a great year to be a Gator. "The Promise" and the dominance after was something special.
Cool vid. Interesting stuff. But I would have noticed something immediate wrong with my formula as soon as I saw shit like 2007 Kansas being sandwiched between 2005 Texas, and 2011 Bama, two of the greatest teams in CFB history. Among a myriad of other headscratchers. A lot of the higher ranked teams in this list would frankly get absolutely demolished by many of the lower ranked ones. Also I don't see how anyone could argue with '95 Nebraska being the best team of all time, steroids aside 😂
"what does it show?" That you're using a highly flawed formula that is based on metrics that aren't static across the board. I'm a business analyst and this is by far one of the worst ways to use metrics.
Would love to see what Vick-era Virginia Tech scored
just did the formula for the 1999 team and got a score of 636.89, mostly held back by the big east kinda sucking that year
@@empire1800 thanks bro, preciate it 🙏 Came across your channel last week, criminally underrated. Keep up the good work king
Do a video on best Defenses of 2000-now
Can you please talk about the 2007 college football season?
This shows Nick Saban is the goat with all 7 of his national title
Man the 2013 Noles were special, love that squad and FSU, go Noles baby🍢
97 Michigan, or 06 Michigan could have been on this list
The 06 team didn't even qualify for consideration with 2 losses but they prolly would've been fringe top 25
meh. i would’ve liked to see where 06 and 19 ohio state lie tho. both might be higher than the squads that actually won titles
2021 Cincinnati should've joined too.
1995 Montana Grizzlies are #1 in my heart. Dave Dickenson is forever a Griz legend. He beat Randy Moss's Marshal team in the Championship game that year.
Randy Moss wasn’t on the 1995 team he was on the 1996 team that beat Montana
1971,1983 offense,1984 defense,1995 Nebraska,2001 Miami are it. No question.
LSU. Easy pick
Love this video but the thing with interpreting statistics especially in a state of the art patent pending formula, is that we need to extensively analyze each variable of each team just to figure out if the formula is viable. This isn’t money ball with Brad Pitt and honestly it’s making my brain hurt the more I think about it. Which is good. Just means this needs more research, and it’s an interesting field of study
Basically there are 22 total variables for a given team. 11 positions on offense and defense. Each of these variables has their own set of variables for their respective efficiencies for their given position. I.E # of sacks, pressures, swats for a Defensive lineman. So too many variables not even including strength of schedule and “game control” 🤮
completely agree i feel like you can go down a real rabbit hole with trying to put numbers on every single element of the game, then weighing how much each should be worth when determining overall “quality”. i like The Formula©️®️™️ as a thought experiment but yeah thinking of everything else that could’ve or should’ve been included makes my brain hurt
Oh for sure it’s a fire thought experiment and it was mad entertaining. Trying to calculate teams is a lot though. And I think the lack of access to this kind of statistical data has definitively impacted college football to a point where we’re still relying on the “eye test” for our playoffs. That one point says a lot I think.
I actually like this
Im glad the Gatora ranked as the best of the 21st century, but, I'd ve interested to see what the numbers looked like for that OU team that didn't lose for four straight years.
“Frosty the snowmannn”
I’m slightly confused about the Defensive Efficiency part of the formula. How are you getting TY & OpY?
2001 Miami
02 canes hands down so many from team drafted in 1st rd crazy
Ya but they didnt do much in the NFL, at least compared to 1979 USCs roster. 1979 USC had the most NFL talent in College Football History.
Clemson in 16’ beat maybe the strongest rooster ever and for that reason Clemson is the best.
College football does what it does best . . .subvert expectations and give us something truly entertaining to watch.
Lets go Marshall and SC
Good video. Gotta disagree with you a bit about the Big Eight in 1995, though. Including Nebraska, they landed 4 teams in the final Top 10 polls that year. Yeah, it might have been a top heavy conference that year, but weak? Nah. I do understand, however, that your statement is probably based upon the analytics that you're using. 1995 Nebraska is still the best college football team I've ever seen thus far. And yeah, I AM a bit biased, admittedly. Nevertheless, I've yet to see anyone better. Again, good job, cheers, and Go Big Red.
Actually shocked that the 1994 Penn State team isn’t on here.
its pre 2000
@@The_Movie_Ribbit Oh like post-2000? Thank you, didn’t know.
