A mixture of puppet and hand-drawn animation, The Necktie is the story of Valentin and his quest to find meaning in his life. Stuck in a dead-end job, he has forgotten all about the things that used to bring him joy. Years pass, and boredom replaces all his aspirations and hope for the future. It is only on his 40th birthday, when he rediscovers an old accordion hidden in the depths of his closet, that he regains his lust for life.

  • Great video, expressing the pure reality of today’s society. Unfortunately many of us are in a deep sleep and don’t see they are asleep. They suffer but don’t know why. Others has understood from where the suffering comes from but don’t how do heal and let go, they have forgotten what were the passions and talents of childhood, just don’t know how to get out of the dark. And the very few people have been connected again with their soul and are now following the soul’s purpose, leaving authentically, leaving their higher excitements… Many thanks for this creation that speaks more than millions of words. Much gratitude and blessings 🙏✨

  • Thank you for this. My uncle Eli Noyes was a stop-motion animator himself, AND he played the accordion as well. He passed away last month. He lived his life working on what he chose; he brushed up with companies like Pixar and MTV, but he would never have been happy working with any of them. He would never have chosen a workplace where he didn't have his freedom.

  • The Death of a Dream is painless. Dreams rarely die right in front of your eyes. They usually die of neglect. You don't even realize it's happening until something reminds you of it again. Then you suddenly realize it's been dead for years. Having been starved by our daily choice for comfort and convenience. Dreams are there to be dreamed. A dream you won't allow yourself to have or work towards is no dream at all!

    • I use to have a dream or two, I use to dream that I would be a great book author and write many fantasy stories, I even started to dream that I would be a great 2D animator and be as great as some of the legendry 2D animators, like Don Bluth, Akria Troiyama, Walt Disney, maybe even Hayao Miyazaki. Plus, find I nice woman, get married, have a few kids and be a loving family. But after learning that I have autism and all the things going on with my home, family, and life, never finding the right girl, (not to mention feeling I may never be as great as the other famous authors,) I feel I may never reach my dreams and they may never come true. I feel like the only way I could have dreams coming true is by entering the afterlife. (Not that I want to commit suicide or anything.) But I sometimes wonder, if I'm not destined to follow my dreams, then what's the point of living? I'm starting to feel as sad and depressed as that man in the short, and those guys hanging by the neck and being dumped in the trash. I'm over 40 now, and I'm doing ok now, but there are times I wish I had a second chance in life and get another chance to reach my dreams.

    • @@dreamguardian8320 The top of the ladder is a fine dream, but too lofty perhaps, and far far away. Your depression may shift once you take step onto the first rung.

  • LIFE, inc. Follow the rules and maybe, after giving the best 65 years of your lives to the corporations, will acquire a monthly stipend enabling you to live the final years of your lives in peace; while wishing the same for the children you brought into this insane reality.

    • Tell that to the KFC guy and so many other people that made it after 60. Or better, just be like the rest of the 60 and above people who live alone without a cent to travel nor take care of their own health. I wonder which lives a happier life...

  • For 18 years i had this dream of directing a play by Ariel Dorfman. For those years. No one would consider backing it, but i worked at it..kept on plugging away .. Of course COVID interrupted it but in 2023 i was given the oppurtunity of directing it. It was the culmination of all my dreams , of all those years of working towards putting it on stage.
