That's what long net drift fishing was for. Spear fishing, done properly, is not damaging to wildlife or habitat.
@@michaelfoye1135 Yeah spearfishing is where it's at. Dragging a net across is like bulldozing the forest just to get a deer.
Why is it so obvious Russia would build an under water gun or even the hybrid.
Because guns
It's not. Like at all. Russia barely even has access to the sea. The reason you think it's obvious is probably because soviet weapons are a popular discussion topic, so you just assume every odd gun you hear about is from Russia.
If remember correctly the US just relied on spear guns but have since adopted the hybrid

Rifling makes it GYROSCOPICALLY stable not aerodynamically. Fletchings on an arrow make it aerodynamically stable. Rotation on a bullet makes it gyroscopically stable.
thanks, that's an interesting note
Finally.. something that is not what HE thinks..
You’re a gyroscopic stable
I watched this episode of MythBusters too 🤣
True, it stops it from tumbling
The water pressure keeps it straighter for longer if I heard right. That's pretty awesome.
What about buoyancy? I know it's mostly solid metal but are there any effect to the projectile due to buoyancy?
@@rizalardiansyah4486 It's probably going fast enough that it doesn't really matter, on top of the effective range being already pretty small
@@rizalardiansyah4486 you'd probably want it to be super dense, or neutral bouyancy. If it floats super fast then that means your bullets will drop in reverse and you'll have to aim very low for "distant" shots. Who knows. Maybe they're all made from aluminum because fast bullet avoids thise problems.
@@rizalardiansyah4486 Lead is 11 times denser than water, so you could say that a lead bullet in water would drop 10/11 of the amount it would drop in air due to gravity. So 9% less drop. But the drop over 40 meters is very small to begin with so you can neglect it when aiming.
No, the deeper you are, the shorter the range.
Not correct, they have the same frontal area as regular bullets, they just have greater sectional density (longer) than conventional bullets to carry their energy more efficiently.
Pretty sure he meant less frontal area per unit mass
Damn, someone has been listening in school that’s great thanks for the information my friend
Thank you for using different words to confirm what he said, that they have a smaller frontal area to mass ratio than regular bullets!

That Call of Duty Ghosts mission was accurate then, god I loved the campaign
It was an awesome game. I'm still waiting for the Ghosts 2 😥
@@vybtom1 It will never come, mostly because Activision is getting politically, legally, and morally torn apart, but also because Ghosts was the single worst COD game out there until Vanguard happened.
@@casual_speedrunner1482 aye man you never know remember Microsoft just bought them
@@thedarkangelassassinprince2741 They did? Well, maybe a Ghosts 2 is in the future then. It would have to be a REALLY good game to make up for the shoddy performance of the first though. We’re talking, make something better than MW 2019, good. What I would love, personally, is a new CoD set in a Chinese invasion of Taiwan or something like that. Or most of Asia as a whole, with Japan, Taiwan, India, South Korea and maybe America on one side, with China and North Korea on the other. Of course, that would never happen as it would be banned in China and sales would plummet, or it would try to cast China as the good guys and be a shoddy game. Still, it’s nice to hope.

"Welp, I must've crossed onto US waters" 🤷
Your grammar is crap
You said one solution is to use two kinds of Ammo for above water and underwater. You also said that the underwater guns don't work well above water due to lack of rifling. I fail to see how just different bullets change the outcome unless there is some bullet that I am unaware of that has its own rifling. It seems they would have to bring a different upper receiver as well.
There are certain shotgun slugs called sabot slugs that are rifled slugs, I'm sure the military may have some sort of same concept for a jacketed bullet
@@theconsensualgamer I was unaware of the shotgun shell, so thank you for that. I shall repay with knowledge. We had a sabot 50 cal. round that we called a slap round. It had a depleted uranium core and was specialized for penetrating armor.
So how often do humans have underwater battles? I would love to see this it sounds very exciting.
There was a video I watched recently of a navy seal who scoffed at the idea of an underwater combat knife and asked the person how often he thought they saw enemy swimmers out there. I was honestly surprised
So, instead, hear me out. We make underwater lightsabers.

@@piisfun I can assure you there is no issue with cooling in space.

Do people actually frequently need to shoot guns underwater though? I just can't imagine there's frequent underwater battles that don't involve being in a submarine
The last time these were seriously used was likely in Vietnam when underwater demolition teams used an earlier version of the HKP11 but this isnt confirmed
Shoot from underwater onto guards standing near the water

I think the hybrid gun is a waste. Simple is not that good in water and is not that good shotting in air weapons like those need a specialisation to work properly that's why the US and other countries never developed hybrid guns

So, when shown refiring of a "suspect's gun" in TV reports, to compare the markings on the bullet, the gun is refired into a water tank: is it really comparable?
Yes. The thing beinh compared is the marks left on the bullet by the rifling which is still the same if its fired from the same firearm regardles of the target. What the water would do compared to a solid target is safely slow the bullet preserving its shape so the marks are easy to see. A solid target squashes and distorts the bullet. Although there are a number of other materials used for test fire chambers alternative to water aswell, including ones using rubber balls or baffles to slow the projectile.
Where the hell is their underwater battle at? This just seems a bit absurd! What are you going to fight Aquaman?
Yes
No it's like a hide and seek in rivers for an ambush on the surface because while it's very hard to see whats in the river but the aqua soldiers would see the enemy's clearly so then fire a ambush attack
It's developed so that frogmen don't have to rely on just knifes for self defense
How do you guard a dock against a diver who can shoot you without exposing himself? Nothing absurd about it.
Basically, a firing duck.
So I guess a smooth bore shotgun firing a fin stabilized discarding sabot slug would be best for a universal projectile
Amphibious rifle is not a combination of words I thought would end up on my Christmas list, but there it is.
it's wild how little you hear about the DSG CAV-X bullets that debuted a few years back at shot show. They're mostly a conventionally shaped round though.
The fact that anybody thinks that there's a serious chance that we might need to deal with underwater firefights in the near future when we've just inaugurated a Space Force is kind of funny. I still want one though.
an underwater firefight, now that's something to be seen!
Imagine the weight a person would have to carry. Think about it two guns and ammunition for both and then comes in the amphibious gear and on top of that the water will make it hard for you move sometimes. That will take serious guts and strength! But yeah this is really cool though
Usually, they'd care one to two rounds of magazines of underwater bullets. Which is not a lot extra.
"Remember, no fish "
Ah ok, so its a tiny combustion-powered spear gun
Who would have guessed shooting underwater would have been worse than on land. That is so common sense I feel like video games portrayed as better
How often is there underwater combat that this needed to be made 🤣🤣
I wonder how many underwater gun fights theres actually been. With both parties submerged not inserting by swimming then popping up and then dropping down, but both completely scuba geared up firing rounds.
I would be so shocked if this has ever happened, honestly.
@@fridge.4834 I know right lol i ran an entire under water firefight in my head lol. The conditions would habe to be perfect cause of the water is murky in the slightest you could be 10ft from an enemy and have no clue they're there.

Acceleration Due To Gravity: "Am I a joke to you?"
Alternative option: get out the water and clear it by setting off 5 pounds of tannerite underwater. The enemy’s internal organs will be reduced to cranberry sauce, and you can continue your mission in peace.

Rifling isn't for aerodynamic stability but rather gyroscopic stability. Think gyroscopes and how they don't want to change angle.

I hate when I see bullets going through the water in movies. They never get it right…
I think if the length is reduced and a little dense than normal water gun, this would be an ideal kind of bullet for both water and air.
Wait. These are actual combustion-propelled underwater bullets? Or are they just fired by rubber band?
"Im built different"
This same principle is why spearguns used on land in movies should be very ineffective beyond basically contact range.
I thought they always time out when both enemies in the water to make it fair
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun at 350 feet underwater? Idk pressure and lack of oxygen but I guess an automatic needlegun works too

The bullet physics *changes* Less goo
I just now realized that one James bond poster is looking from inside the barrel of a gun
You should've told people that the rounds are called flechettes. They're nothing new, and they're not just for under water shooting. A number of futuristic military prototype weapons use them because they go farther, faster, and fly straighter than traditional bullets and firearms can hold WAY more flechettes than bullets in the same amount of space. They're probably the future of projectile firearms.
You can’t tell me they’re not trying to make space guns
Like he said at the end, just carry another above water gun in a waterproof container strapped to you.

I had no idea there were needle guns
Has there ever been an underwater infantry battle?
Now I know how I’m doing my future fishing.
Why can't you use layered rifling. The needles would go into specific grooves that keeps it straight and the regular rounds would not fit in those grooves because they're to small. Now you only need one gun.
The physics doesn't change
*WATER* is 784 times denser than *AIR* (at sea level).
That’s why it’s always silly to see in movies when the protagonist jumps into a body of water and bullets appear to zip thru at full speed, some times ripping thru several people etc. always cringe lol
