Definitely try Karpathos in Greece ... direct flights from many cities during summertime
Great content. I would love more reviews of windsurf spots. Like for example Sylt or Denmark. Places people can visit by car for summer holidays. Looking forward to more videos
This is definitely on my bucketlist of dream windsurfing destinations😎 A bit more of a journey from Canada. I hope you let Lars get out on the water at least once😆
very nice overwiew for people who don’t know the Spots, hoping for more videos like that
1983,4,5,6 went there for three weeks in summer with my own gear. Watched Pascal Maka break the world record in Sotovento. Sold my masts in Cotillo as everyone broke them back then. Happy days. Then we had kids! I’ve never been back since. Perhaps it’s now time?
Great Spot and Video! 4 years ago I was there. You have to check Karpathos, Meltemi Windsurfing!
At Fuerteventura airport watching your video! 😍😍
Was nice to see you in risco del passo waveriding with slalom gear and big sail while I was full speed in 4,2 that day. You could have also tried El Cotillo we had good rides there.
Die Outtakes fand ich am besten 😊
Nico you are a fantastisch ambassaderaad for the sport - these spot reviews are awesome - do more plesase
Thanks for this cool video, and yes please go for it with the list of all spots including their ranking ! Next spot you may want to check is Sardinia Porto Pollo.
We want ranking! Go for Vasiliki! ❤❤
Loved the video, it would be awesome having other guides from other locations 😊
Very nice overview, big thanks! I love the 3d maps :)
Me ha gustado mucho!! Deseo ver más spots!! Gracias
Quoting my AI: "Greece has about 13,676 km of coastline, which is the longest in the Mediterranean Sea and the 11th longest in the world." More than a dozen great spots in GR that only I know of and found 2 more this year that no windsurfers ever been ;)
Such amazing places!!! I would love to visit them soon! Great video as always Nico! 👋👋
Great video! I went last year and I absolutely loved it! 12 windy days out of…12! The images you show really shows the beauty of the area! And yes! Please, give us a list of all your best windsurfing spots in Europe or around the world, giving the pros and cons, etc. Thank you again!
Please do the ranking of SPOTS with RANKING! The works needs it! 😊 I would visit them one by one ✌️
Insane quality production !! very good footage THX
Wow great videos Nico, great action, great info 😊lovely.
OK I'm now even more convinced to visit the island. Is it better comparing to Grana Canaria or Tenerife? Your guide for Tarifa had been useful, keep it up
Nice review Nico! It would be great to see more reviews about different spots in Europe and beyond 👍
Great video. I've been on holiday there a few times. Hired from Ventura Surf at Waikiki and windsurfed in the harbour. I've also cycled along the sand road from Corralejo to El Cotillo and back over the Volcanos a great ride about 27 miles.
What a great video, thanks a lot Nico ! I love Fuerteventura, especially Riscondel Paso. I also like Kouremenos (east of Crete) which is really windy, and Dakhla (Maroco)
Great video Nico, as usual! Please make that spot guide 😊
Very very very good vidéo , helpfull for a trip ! Thank you. :)
Great video. It would be nice to compare all spots of Canary Islands as you already know most of them. Your expertise is always welcome. Thanks a lot Nico!
Great video Nico! You did such a good job describing this location which was not so easy to research as a whole. Congratulations on your top ten spot on the tour also! Keep up the great work you are doing! Bis nächste mal! Greg from San Francisco.
Thanks Nico. Try Greece with Paros (New Golden Beach: former PWA spot until 2002, right after Sotavento on the agenda of the pros), else Gun Bay in Karpathos or Kouremenos in the Eastern part of Crete. Paros is the best combination of all things what windsurfers and family require
Great guide, quality info! 13:28 Nico hanging on for dear life? Perhaps also add gps coords to the pdf?
Great windsurf travel vlog. Really interesting from the Australian perspective because not many people here travel to windsurf. Thanks!👍
thanks for the superb content and an exceptionally awesome experience seeing all you guys live at the sotavento world cup! looking forward to your bonaire report ;)
Thanks Nico! I've been to Sotavento where I've rented from the René Egli center a couple of times in winter time. Perfect spot, good quality rental equipment and service minded staff. Not as windproof in winter though. I've stayed a bit north at the Playitas sport resort and picked the windiest day of my stay for windsurfing. 😎
Went there 20 years ago, and I can still remember the optimal conditions in Corralejo! Very stable winds, only a little swell, it was one of the best surfing days of my life!
Spot on Nico! I'll be going to Fuerteventura soon, this helps me alot!
Excellent and well researched video! Thanks for sharing this amazing windsurfing spot! Good choice of music as well to accompany you while you were windsurfing. How about Portugal or the UK? Looking forward to the next video.
Just fantastic done, congratz Chris of swiss🤙🤙👍
Excellent! Two trips there, one for speed world cup in (very) old times, one for fun. Definitely fun times in Sotavento 🙂
Thanks for making this, it's a bit of a trek from NZ but it's on my list!
Thumbs up for spot guides and ranking
Vasiliki is where I want to go back to.
Great guide thanks. Went there in August for windsurfing at Flag Beach but unfortunately no wind for the week. Funny outtakes at the end 😂
Great review, many thanks. Will try and get there. Carry a wave board setup, how can you not? 😊
Great guide
Subscribed and gave a like coz we like your fun style and you got the buzz of the epic nature and beauty of the desert. Wow factor! Brillotastic!
The second beach looks perfect. How much to fly equipment?
Thanks Nico & Lars! Interested in some of the less "famous" windsurfing destinations. Places that have consistent and quality wind during their season. Established windsurf center and community. At least one beach bar. Like Bol on Brac Island. The '20 Croatia PWA event site.
You’ll like the next video then :-)
Cool video Nico. Could you also make a surfer's guide of Tarifa and some beaches further north. I wonder how the spots are there.
I have a Tarifa guide already! It just doesn’t cover all the North.
Great guide l. Definitely want to see more spots and as you said traveling with gear is rough. Would be nice to highlight places that have discounts for long term rentals 3+ days.
Great video. ❤❤❤. My next Hollidays spot 🎉
Always interested to know where to go next, especially when a perfectionist is doing the video. Thanks a lot.
and Fuerteventura is still on my bucket list for the last 20yrs
wonderfull video... I'm a little jealous about the great wind. there has been a westerly wind here for months and this extreme gust, from full throttle to 1 knot in 3 seconds and back. I dream of my next trip, where you can simply glide and practice your maneuvers in a relaxed manner without constantly having extreme wind holes.
Sotavento is great. Went here in the late 80s, and it was a massive difference from sailing at home in the UK. Boardshorts and harness and away you go. And don't you just go when the wind is 40 knots and the water is super flat next to the shore 🙂 Awesome place, though it did ruin the experience of sailing at home after that!!Have tried a few other destinations like Dahab and Pozo, but neither are quite as good I would say. The broad reach you get right down the shoreline is awesome at Sotavento, and that beautiful sandy bay makes it another level. If you get some swell you can float long hanging airs in the harness so easily because of the consistency of the wind. Neither of the other two destinations are as good IMO because neither have both beautiful sandy beach and super flat water close to shore.
I guess traveling with own car & gear is a huge pro for most of us - what about a series that covers such "roadtrip spots"? Like Germany/Denmark/Sweden for more northern guys and Croatia/Italy/France for more southern guys. Great video Nico!
Thanks a lot for the video Nico! I have to say that Fuerteventura is a dream spot for all levels, no matter if you are a beginner, an expert, you go with friends or family, you will find the place where you will squeeze your windsurfing level and make a progression you would never imagine! Please do videos from other spots in the Canary Islands like El Médano or Pozo. Thanks again for these good moments you are sharing!
Nice review :-) I was once at melia and rene egli. I would only suggest it if you can do good waterstarts. Without carve jibe. you will do a lot.
Come to Greece!
Fantastic video - yes, please rank global sites, including the Caribbean, and please including low-budget options for North Americans old school windsurfers. Cheers.
Surfing at Rene Egli, great memmories. Fantastic vacation!
Hi Nico, great Video again! Would be interessting to get your votes to Matas Blanca spot and windsurf center in Fuerte.
Du hast echt alles richtig gemacht! LG Toddy
What an epic place! I had no idea that Fuerteventura was such a windy paradise! Sign me up! As far as other European places go, what about Greece? I went to Vassiliki last year and was amazed by its beauty, and the windsurfing infrastructure was excellent. However, the wind was not as consistent as I'd hoped. There are other places in Greece that are more consistent I understand, like Karpathos. Maybe that place would be worth a visit!
Great video as always Nico. Fuerteventura looks amazing for wind & water enthusiasts, but not so much for people who have interests on land. When I travel to windsurfing destinations I have to consider hiking, biking, shopping & sightseeing options for my better half. So perhaps you would need two rankings? One for windsurfing only & the other for a balanced vacation of windsurfing & non-windsurfing activities. Garda's going to be hard to beat for an all round spot but I'd be hard pressed to choose between Viana & Garda 🤔.
That’s why we rank the „Surroundings“. But yes, for people who are not into wind and water there are other places, for sure!
Out of the three spots Viana has no thermic winds and you can be really out of luck in my experience. But apart from that it's a super destination for sure, so beautiful and versatile all around.
Fully agree with Garda! Lovely place and suitable for both windsurfing and spending time with the family. NowwnGarda is my top 1 family spot
@@Nico_GER7Hi Nico!. I am the guy from Andorra you met in tarifa last summer. Wish you the best!
Would love a guide for Lanzarote 🤙
Good job Nico - what is the best place on mainland Europe?
8:00 what kind of edit trickery magic is this. Way too professional for a knob like NIco :*
Wizardry
Great Vid. Include Tarifa in the best European quide
Great guide Nico! I definitely have to go there before I die. Strange thing : waves are going backwards on Jandi'a Playa ;-) 14:05
Magic 🪄
Tks Nico
Good idea to review more windsurfing spots, and please include renting possibilities in reviews! PS. Have you ever been to Chalupy, Hel Peninsula in Poland?
so inspiring dude ! always such good quality videos and top tips ! any spots you could check out in France ? Bay of Almanarre ? or owould love some spots in Sardaigna or sicily ;-))))
geile Aufnahmen!
Come to Malta!
My place of birth. Learned windsurfing with Sergio and Jaime at Ventura Surf in Corralejo.
Cool video. I think the name of the island means more something like "Great fortune". But it does have nice wind statistics 😊
Oops! 😅
Great video. We know FV from a couple of trips but haven't been for five years. One question: You don't star rate Flag Beach for rental - does that mean the windsurfing rental place on Flag Beach has shut up shop?
We couldn’t find any…
yes, I've checked and they don't have the hut any more, but there is still a windsurfing hire operation covering the beach@@Nico_GER7
Prasonisi i think one of the best, but we love the hungarian spots Brutal beach or Balatonederics.
Nico you need to visit Western Australia during summer . . . . . . From Espesrance to Exmouth
Agreed, who will sponsor this one? 😂
Nice! Next Seychelles!
Nicooooo!!!!! Great !!!!!
🤘🤘
costa brava in spain is also very good
Sure, how about some spots from the Baltic, the North Sea and the Aegean?
I was in Sotavento February 1991 for 11 days.I surfed only the last day a little bit before sunset. No wind at all…The stats said 64% with>4 bft,but I was not that lucky…
I was there to 14th of august
haven't been in fuerte in 4 years... 😢❤
Flying to Canary Islands ??? "HOW DARE YOU !!!" 🤣
Brouwersdam would be nice
come to Leucate !
How many windy days per month on an average?
what wind can be in fuerteventura in cristmas and new years time?
so it is same like in Gran Canaria @@reiry429
No wind
I notice lots of comments about Matas Blancas/Bay. DO NOT GO THERE! It used to be the best beach on the island for speed sailing and they held the Dunkerbeck speed competition there. Absolute paradise and my favourite for the ten years I lived there. Then they built the kite surfing school and this has ruined it. Before then, no kiters would sail there coz it's always offshore and they've got no balls. Now the place is full of them from total novices to the twats who leap before they look and land on you. I was hit three times and once was lucky not to lose my arm when a novice kite came crashing down in front of me at 25 knots and the lines melted as they slid up the mast. If you value your life, do not sail there when the school is open. Go early morning if the winds are kind (tends to only work later in the day) or once the school is shut. Watch out for sudden wind drop off in the evening but it will usually go a bit flukey before it stops. My best advice is just don't go there. It broke my heart when I watched them build that monstrosity slap bang in the middle of the beach. Fuerteventura has a spot for every level of windsurfer, wonderful warm seas and weather, flying fish that go between your legs, turtles, whales, relatively friendly sharks (hammerheads will swim beside you and just watch), dolphins. It is truly paradise. Wish I still lived there.
Number 1 for sure.
Fuerte Ventura doesn’t mean strong wind in Spanish 😉 it’s more like strong fortune. Some argue with a reference to the latin word “ventus”, but the canary islands were regarded lucky historically, so it’s more about luck than wind probably. Anyways an amazing island without doubt.
Yes, I think I was fooled by that reference. At least it has „strong“ in its name 😊
Went to fuerte once, no wind whatsoever 😅 but that’s me, I have that effect on the weather.
