I attempted to crochet an entire skirt within 48 hours! Did I succeed? Find out in this video :D. I've been wanting to crochet a skirt for quite some time and now I finally got to it. Why did I decide to attempt to crochet it in such a short amount of time tho? Don't ask... Anyways, I absolutely LOVE how it turned out! Skirts are cool, crocheting is cool - combine them, and a wizard might abduct you because humanity isn't ready for this kind of amazingness (but it's worth the risk, trust me.)

WOW! 40 hours... I have no words. You look incredible in it!! 💚💚💚 Don't twist the chain... :) Amazing work!!!
I had so much fun making this skirt!! 🫶 Every project of mine has at least one chaotic moment, so something was bound to happen haha! Thanks so much for this wonderful pattern 🧡
@@finnjasartsandcraftsit wouldn’t be a handmade project without a touch of chaos!
Gracias por compartir!! Me gustaría que lo hagas nuevamente...paso a paso; soy primeriza en este tema de Crochet. Gracias! Quedo hermosa la falda.🎉
wait yall are unravelling your work when you mess up. Im diné/navajo our fabric crafts have to have an imperfection in it, so that it doesn't hold onto energy, it can passthrough
That is a really nice sentiment! Usually smaller mistakes don't bother me, however with this one (the twist in the chain) the whole skirt would have been twisted and basically not wearable haha!
What else to do? Not all of us ca afford to toss it and buy more yarn
@@AnniCarlssontheir point is to continue despite the mistakes not toss the project and yarn ......
Ive seen this pop up in several cultures and at this point I make sure that each project has a small mistake in it lol
I only undo things if it will affect the end result too much, like the fit of a garment. If I get 2 dc in a 3 dc cluster, i don’t really care
You should've seen my face when I saw how long the starting chain was 😭
Don't tell anyone but my secret evil plan is to wrap up the entire globe with yarn, and this first chain is only the beginning. The skirt is just a cover up 🤫
Chain 10. Take hook out and put it in the very first stitch. Then pick up the loop and continue chaining. That way you have a circle - and it's NEVER twisted
me *holding my breath* to find out if the chain was going to be twisted 👁️👄👁️ i honestly would have messed that up MORE than once
There is a super simple way to prevent twisting the chain, and there are youtube videos that demonstrate how to do it. 🤗
Can I please convince you to look up a standing double crochet, and a foundation double crochet starting row… they will COMPLETELY change the crochet game for you 🤗 The bottom of the skirt will stretch more annnnd you will have less chance of it twisting accidentally 😊
Will definitely look into it, thank you!
Or just take out 1 row to where you completed the round of dopple crochet hold chain (with DC facing downward) between fingers and fallow chain row around without taking hands of. When you are at the start again, you can close DC round without twist. Even when chain raound is twisted, nobody will see it. Et voila 2 hours less work.
Do you smell this? Smells like a channel with great potential! Your editing looks so professional
🥹🧡
For making a loop, I’ve found that it you make a short chain of maybe 5-6 chains and then take your hook out, slip it through your first stitch and the working loop (in that order) and then continue chaining using your working loop and holding the beginning chain loop in your palm and you will never have to worry about twisting your chains, no matter how long it needs to be. You just slip into the first chain once you have the right number of stitches ^_^
Amazing idea
I was thinking of mentioning this too. This technique is especially useful for projects like this that start with a large circle. 😊😊😊
@@Y3w3lz I do it for anything bigger than a 10 chain 😂
I do the exact same thing!
This is the method I prefer as well! I’d highly recommend the ring connecting after a few chains then continuing on.
Love your editing and sense of humour. Time travel machine was hilarious 🤣
🫶 :D
I learned years ago that it is best for me to work back and forth for a few rows before joining into a ring. You have a little seam to sew up when you start working in the round, but at least there is not all that frogging!
What an interesting video! My tip is...after your chain, crochet the first row and then join! You can weave in the end later😊
You are so lovely and relatable when you had your 'Oh No' moment with the twist in your chain. The pain of finding an oopsie when you are stitching away and unravelling to fix it, is such where you can see the time spent fall apart.😅 Also, have miscalculated on the amount of yarn I need for projects and it makes me nervous to be sure I can get all I need to finish. Your birds are so cute!
Moments like this are always pure ✨pain✨ haha but it's also always worth it to keep going! Thank you, and I will tell the birds 🫡😂🫶
I can feel the tendonitis awaking in my hands and arms just looking at you doing this, and honestly, it’s encouraging me to crochet. Chaos.
It turned out so beautiful! Also you completing it 40 hours non-stop - I could never - well done!
I have always wanted to crochet a skirt, I now have 4 patterns that I love and still have not started my skirt. You go, girl 👏
When you do get to crocheting your own skirt, I wish you lots of fun! It's definitely worth it 🤩
Omg feel you on the giant Mobius skirt start ❤❤ try ch20 (or so) and then take yarn off hook and thread the first chain (without a twist in the cord) onto your hook and then pop the crochet back (checking again, and then again for twist) onto your hook and continue making yarn spaghetti. It will just get REALLY LONG and at the end of the starting spaghetti noodle chain, just slip the held first stitch off the hook, over your last stitch and there is no twist!
So that the starting chain does not twist in large jobs there is a tip, knit 10 or 12 chains, take out the hook and insert it into the first chain and slide it back of your hand, reserving it, continue knitting where you left off until you reach the desired number of chains, now you will have two loops on the hook, Just slide the yarn through the two loops and you're done! You have the circle closed without having to suffer for the chain to twist!!!
quick tip: when doing a long chain and trying to prevent a twist: either start with a stacked first row (staked double, single,....) or when doing a simple chain, after you do your first 10 stiches, unhook the work, put the first loop/chain onto the hook and push it back; then rehook the work and carry on. keeping the work's start on the hook will prevent twisting and you can simply slip stich into the fist loop that you have been holding on to.
I crocheted a skirt once, and so when I saw the title my immediate reaction to the question was "No way!" It wasn't until the end of the video after you actually succeeded that my brain engaged and I remembered that I had crocheted my skirt out of thread, not yarn. Of course mine would take a lot longer. Yours turned out beautifully, if I hadn't promised to make something for my family I'd be picking up a new project.
Thank you! But also, you made a skirt out of thread?? That is the most impressive thing I've ever heard haha your patience must be immeasurable
@@finnjasartsandcrafts Crochet thread, so not as crazy as it sounds, but yeah, it took a while. I took breaks to make other projects in-between so I didn't go crazy with boredom.
Here before the channel blows up (seriously you’re so underrated and talented ❤)
Wow, thank you so much! 🧡
It turned out great! And honestly your struggles are all soooo relatable!
This is so lovely the skirt, the video, everything! It looks amazing! And in 40 hours, damn, Im so impressed!❤
The finished skirt was stunning in moss green, nd the top u wore with it is beautiful.
Great job ! I love this pattern ❤
Nice work! The skirt looks amazing and your enthusiasm is sooo inspiring!

Yes of course!! I was just talking about my personal skirt-experience haha
Love all of the crafting content on your channel so far, great watching while I do some craft stuff myself! Also admiring your frog stickers on the cork board 🐸 Would be interested to see the stuff you're sewing too!
🫶 I love my frog stickers haha, got them from my friends a while back 🐸 Sewing content is definitely planned for the future! :)
Congratulations! You are so talented and fun and creative and I just have to make this skirt now too!
Very nice. You’ve given me my next inspiration to crochet. So far I’ve managed shawls and socks. Time for some skirts!
Gorgeous! What a beautiful achievement! Kudos to you! 💚
🧡
The algorithm do be blessing me with this video today
Looks fantastic!
Absolutely beautiful skirt. And you are not alone! All your disasters are more common than you can even imagine. To avoid twisting: Start as normal. About a dozen stitches in, remove the hook and insert it into your beginning stitch. Untwist the the shorter chain. Reinsert your hook to continue your work leaving that beginning stitch on the hook. When you come to the end, close the loop. There are many tutorials on KZhead to walk you through. Between this and the foundation stitch, I don't know which has been more mind blowing for me.
That skirt is beautiful and it looks wonderful on you! Great job! I was shocked at how fast you got that done! Enjoy wearing your beautiful work!
Thank you 🥹🧡
WOW!! Love your video! This skirt definitely suits you and your style. I really would like to try to crochet this one. Subscribed!!)
Thank you! 🥹🧡 And I definitely recommend crocheting the skirt, it's so pretty and so much fun to make! 🤗
oooh I hate twists. I started to knit the first rounds flat and then close to a loop with a bit more fabric so it‘s easier to spot loops. Might work for crochet too, you just have to sew the first few rounds in the end
This was a delightful video. So glad you showed up in my KZhead feed. New subscriber.
Well done, young lady! Thank You. Love from Ontario, Canada ❤❤❤
That is one beautiful skirt! Well done. :)
I‘m completely new to this channel but the first thing I noticed was the “deutsche Landkarte” in the background. I noticed the accent, but wasn’t really sure. But here she is. Another fellow german. 🎉
Haha, yes! 😊
ok, you’ve inspired me to make a crochet skirt 🧶💃looking forward to more of your great videos!!😁

I am watching this whilst crocheting a shawl in Drops Belle... I love the way it drapes! This skirt is so impressive.

How cool 😍
I’m going to make some wrap shorts based off this. It’s so pretty
It's lovely. Well done : )
Frogging, a fact of life. There is NEVER any need to put a mistake in on purpose. There will be one if it is my work.
The Twist reference 👌🏻
4:12 whenever I begin a project with a super long chain I will slip stitch back to make it a little thicker. It’s barely noticeable but pretty

I couldn't finish this one in 48 WEEKS let alone hours!! You did such an amazing job, honestly!! The skirt looks soooo nice!!
Thank you 🥰 I'd say I'm generally pretty bad at focusing on things but when it comes to arts and crafts I will go all in and commit to it like my life depends on it haha!
BRAVO Girl!!!
When I’m doing something this big and see the instruction “join into a ring and make sure it doesn’t twist” I actually turn the work and work the first row and then join into a ring at the end of that row. Then you can use the short tail at the start of the work and a needle to weave a join at the edge.
you had me hooked at forest goblin 🤩
Forest goblins unite 🌲
Its very pretty!
That's why I make the first row without closing to a round and close it afterwards 😁
If you remember to keep the first loop on the hook for the entire chain, you will have it ready to connect, with no twist.
Do a foundation row start, it includes the chain and the double crochet in one go, much easier not to twist it.
the pain when the chain twists i know all too well, too many cute projects got abandoned because of my stupidity and lack of skill
Lots of people here in the comments had tips for preventing a twist in the chain, you can look through the comments if you want, they're very helpful!! For my part, I've already learned so much through other people's experiences. I have a very chaotic way of crafting haha, so most of the time things don't work out as I expected but sometimes it's worth it to keep going 🫶 and if not, I always see it as a great learning experience. Hope you never stop being creative, it's what keeps the world turning 🧡
Lovely work BTW, appreciate that you show how long it can take, would take me 20 years to make, but it gives me a better idea of what it can take to complete a project, so I can mentally prepare myself rather than spend endless nights, weeks, months with very little sleep on slow auto pilot because my brain is no longer functioning correctly. I am still very new at this so I don't know all the things to look for in the videos but this is a very good one in my opinion of what one can run into just to create their idea. Your also quite lovely and up front making it pleasant to watch your videos, thanks
OMG 😂 i feel it so deep, this moment you realize, you twisted the work. But at least, do beautiful ❤ i also will get the pattern. I did patterns from asya before and they all turned out so cute
😍 I also definitely need to crochet more patterns from Asya!
Awesome 👍🏾 thanks ❤❤❤❤
I’m a brand new subscriber, and I have to say you have the most calming, soothing voice of all yarn content creators I follow. And that skirt is gorgeous! If you don’t wear it, pleeeeeeeeaaaase send it to me!
That is such a nice compliment, thank you! Haha unfortunetly I really love the skirt and already can't wait to wear it out all the time 🫣 But I can only recommend making one for yourself, it's a lot of fun! :D
I will have to make this because you are so adorable 😊 I enjoy fun personalities 😂
🧡 can only recommend it!!
Is starting with a chainless double crochet base posible for this skirt? Because that could help with the "not twisting" thing right at the beginning
Well done looks great so honest with mistake
It is Truly beautiful.
I’ve never seen you before but you give me fairy vibes and I love your name. May I base a character after you?
Thank you! Fairy vibes is what i strive for haha ✨ also, sure :)
Love this skirt and your humour. I was wondering if you are quite tall as I was expecting the skirt to fall to a mid calf length. If you make another ŵould you consider a longer length?? Thanks for sharing the pattern and others. I will enjoy checking them out.
Thanks so much! I'm 172cm/ 5'8" tall :) If I were to make another skirt, maybe I'd consider making it a little longer just to have a slighty different variation. For this I like the length tho, since I like to layer my clothes haha, so it works just fine for me! I also wore the skirt quite high in this video I think, so maybe that was part of it 😅 I definitely recommend checking the patterns out!! 🧡
Ahh that makes sense then. I advocate everyone dress in a manner that pleases themselves. I did not make my comment as a critique at all. But as a queery into the pattern itself. I think a muted pale blue would suit your colouring..(also mine but I lack your stature). I think it fantastic that you completed this in 40 hours. A pretty ribbon or crochet drawstring would work just as well as elastic... I do love patterns that inspire, this skirt is surely one of those.
I want to be a ✨ yarn monster in the forest ✨
Life goal
Let's not twist again like we did last summer...HILARIOUS!
I just shared this video on my Facebook crochet page (5000+ followers) because I absolutely adore you!
Wow thank you so much! 🥺🧡
currently making shorts now i want a skirt
I have only made blankets and scarves so I'm hoping I can do this too.
I'm sure you can! All the stitches you need are explained in the pattern (also with pictures). Should anything still be unclear, there are a bunch of great crochet tutorials on KZhead or you can always reach out to MadebyAsya, the creator of the pattern. So I'd say, give it a try 🤩
You can start your skirt using a single crochet foundation chain or a double crochet foundations chain.
Its the first time seeing you, correctly the first three minutes, and I already want to be your friend. I hereby announce the start of a new parasocial friendship that will accompany me emotionally for the next few months. I apologise for the creepyness.
Haha, careful or you might get recruited for my army, our goal is to cause shenanigans and maybe even a bit of tomfoolery, very serious business Jokes aside tho, I'm glad you enjoy the silly little videos I put out there 😊
There is a simple trick to not twisting the chain, and there are youtube videos demonstrating this useful and easy, and incredibly time-saving trick. 🤗I hope you see this.
hello from another forest fairy 👀 Great video!! How much yarn did the skirt use up? I'm curious cuz I need to buy yarn
Thank you! 🧡🧚 I used about 750g (yarn strength: 120m/50g) for the skirt 🥰
