Can I CROCHET this skirt in 48 HOURS?

2024 ж. 23 Мам.
53 203 Рет қаралды

I attempted to crochet an entire skirt within 48 hours! Did I succeed? Find out in this video :D. I've been wanting to crochet a skirt for quite some time and now I finally got to it. Why did I decide to attempt to crochet it in such a short amount of time tho? Don't ask... Anyways, I absolutely LOVE how it turned out! Skirts are cool, crocheting is cool - combine them, and a wizard might abduct you because humanity isn't ready for this kind of amazingness (but it's worth the risk, trust me.)

  • Chain 10. Take hook out and put it in the very first stitch. Then pick up the loop and continue chaining. That way you have a circle - and it's NEVER twisted

  • Can I please convince you to look up a standing double crochet, and a foundation double crochet starting row… they will COMPLETELY change the crochet game for you 🤗 The bottom of the skirt will stretch more annnnd you will have less chance of it twisting accidentally 😊

    • Or just take out 1 row to where you completed the round of dopple crochet hold chain (with DC facing downward) between fingers and fallow chain row around without taking hands of. When you are at the start again, you can close DC round without twist. Even when chain raound is twisted, nobody will see it. Et voila 2 hours less work.

  • For making a loop, I’ve found that it you make a short chain of maybe 5-6 chains and then take your hook out, slip it through your first stitch and the working loop (in that order) and then continue chaining using your working loop and holding the beginning chain loop in your palm and you will never have to worry about twisting your chains, no matter how long it needs to be. You just slip into the first chain once you have the right number of stitches ^_^

The pain of finding an oopsie when you are stitching away and unravelling to fix it, is such where you can see the time spent fall apart.😅 Also, have miscalculated on the amount of yarn I need for projects and it makes me nervous to be sure I can get all I need to finish. • Omg feel you on the giant Mobius skirt start ❤❤ try ch20 (or so) and then take yarn off hook and thread the first chain (without a twist in the cord) onto your hook and then pop the crochet back (checking again, and then again for twist) onto your hook and continue making yarn spaghetti. It will just get REALLY LONG and at the end of the starting spaghetti noodle chain, just slip the held first stitch off the hook, over your last stitch and there is no twist!

    @XyphirOoi@XyphirOoiКүн бұрын
  • So that the starting chain does not twist in large jobs there is a tip, knit 10 or 12 chains, take out the hook and insert it into the first chain and slide it back of your hand, reserving it, continue knitting where you left off until you reach the desired number of chains, now you will have two loops on the hook, Just slide the yarn through the two loops and you're done! You have the circle closed without having to suffer for the chain to twist!!!

    @plserviciosenelectronicalo5553@plserviciosenelectronicalo55535 күн бұрын
  • quick tip: when doing a long chain and trying to prevent a twist: either start with a stacked first row (staked double, single,....) or when doing a simple chain, after you do your first 10 stiches, unhook the work, put the first loop/chain onto the hook and push it back; then rehook the work and carry on. keeping the work's start on the hook will prevent twisting and you can simply slip stich into the fist loop that you have been holding on to.

  • Absolutely beautiful skirt. And you are not alone! All your disasters are more common than you can even imagine. To avoid twisting: Start as normal. About a dozen stitches in, remove the hook and insert it into your beginning stitch. Untwist the the shorter chain. Reinsert your hook to continue your work leaving that beginning stitch on the hook. When you come to the end, close the loop. There are many tutorials on KZhead to walk you through. Between this and the foundation stitch, I don't know which has been more mind blowing for me.

    • Thanks so much! I'm 172cm/ 5'8" tall :) If I were to make another skirt, maybe I'd consider making it a little longer just to have a slighty different variation. For this I like the length tho, since I like to layer my clothes haha, so it works just fine for me! I also wore the skirt quite high in this video I think, so maybe that was part of it 😅 I definitely recommend checking the patterns out!! 🧡

    • Ahh that makes sense then. I advocate everyone dress in a manner that pleases themselves. I did not make my comment as a critique at all. But as a queery into the pattern itself. I think a muted pale blue would suit your colouring..(also mine but I lack your stature). I think it fantastic that you completed this in 40 hours. A pretty ribbon or crochet drawstring would work just as well as elastic... I do love patterns that inspire, this skirt is surely one of those.

    • I'm sure you can! All the stitches you need are explained in the pattern (also with pictures). Should anything still be unclear, there are a bunch of great crochet tutorials on KZhead or you can always reach out to MadebyAsya, the creator of the pattern. So I'd say, give it a try 🤩

  • You can start your skirt using a single crochet foundation chain or a double crochet foundations chain.
