LGA1700 Install of Arctic Liquid Freezer II with New Mounting Kit
Be sure to use correct mounting hardware as we have found that the mounting hardware shipped can vary. For example, our kit did not include any AMD hardware. Refer to the Arctic website if unsure. This covers the installation of the new LGA 1700 Mounting Kit - Liquid Freezer II Series which if not included with your cooler you can get from Arctic. If you have an Arctic cooler already and you bought a 12th series Intel CPU, you are eligible for a free Arctic LGA1700 Mounting Kit.

You are awesome! That's more than this video makes in a few months. Really appreciate it.
Thank you sooooo much! Installing CPUs should be easy - but if you goof, you toast stuff. Very relaxed, now; where's my Millers?
Best installment tutorial for the new LGA1700... no bullshit, straight to the point, good work man and thank you!
Revenant from Small Form Factor Network here. This was really useful. Thanks for making it. Look forward to following your work.
About to build my first build. Was worried about this process as the instructions are not clear. Thanks for making me feel at ease. Keep up the good work
Thank you very much for the support
This is exactly the type of video I was looking for. Even the manufacturer's site wasn't this clear and detailed. You saved me a lot of time and frustration! Thanks again!
You are welcome. Probably why they used our video on their KZhead channel. 😆 Thanks for the feedback.
As Keith suggested dry fit your pump first. In addition I would also 'dry' mount the radiator as well. The radiator is huge make sure you have the clearance. Radiator fans ran into motherboard CPU plugs, CPU fan plug, and ARGB header. Was able to get it mounted (not the way it should but will work), very tight fit (ATX Mid Tower, Arctic 280mm fans).
Absolutely. Really applies to the whole PC. Never fun to have to disassemble a PC when 90% done because something won't fit.
Love the close up photos of the sides and stuff.
** FOR ANYONE ATTEMPTING THIS** Please dry fit the pump block first, if you apply paste and then realize after the fact that the plastic housing won't fit on your motherboard, then you've just made a messy mistake. Dry fit it first, THEN go back and apply paste for the final install.
got it

@@xyloid5313 I don't know where to even begin with that comment.
@@keithwalker9096 well i'm currently going to build my first pc, and i really like this AIO so i try to find as many information as i can, and I saw your comment and i'm a bit confused about what do you mean by that.
Haven’t heard the “dry fit” term in my life except for nike… what does that supposed to mean? Thanks in advance
Very good and clear video! 👍👍
Ehy arctic Friends, what about rog strix b660i? The backplate you send me is the right One but don't fit at all, the spacers are too low and the backplate itself have a sort of tremble. Your adaptor don't fit a lot of motherboard, not only mine. And i don't even talk about the liquid freezer II series, its impossibile to know which rev. you or Amazon or others Will send. I love your products but c'mom...

Thanks for him, your website wont answer for the qr code online manual!
NOT just clear. You made a bad user manual on your website!! Check it please!
Can you verify that the liquid freezer 420 is compatible with the Fractal Design Define 7 Case? Thanks in advance!
You definitely deserve more subs!! thanks for the video!
This is a life saving video! I would pay for it!!! The manufacturer made a completely WRONG manual on their website!
No need to pay lol, but could always use a new subscriber.
My LGA kit came with only 4 washers. Waiting on them sending me 4 more. Glad I did not push forward and damage my MB. I read where someone damaged traces and lost memory channels. I hope the ARGB 420mm meets the hype. I agree that I am not a fan of the mounting system or the look of the pump. I do appreciate the need for only 2 wires vs my whining 360 Capellix and the fact that the fans are pre mounted. The company has been very responsive but one USA channel seemed to be unsure of 4 vs 8 but sent me them anyway. The overseas channel stated right away that LGA requires 8 washers. That did make me lack confidence on them knowing the product. Thank you for the video. Well done with the closeups.
Thank you for this video. My cooler came with no instructions and all the parts jumbled up. (No LGA1700 bracket despite advertised as shipping it for free) It was very confusing at first but this video helped a lot.
That sounds like someone returned it. Or last 10 minutes at factory before end of week. But good to hear you got it working.
Same issue, ordered mine from Amazon. Advertised as 1700 compatible. No bracket lmao, 2nd time I've taken apart my pc only to put it back together due to parts I THOUGHT I had, but nope
@@charges_ I had to buy it separate from them and their customer service said they couldn't send it because they were out of stock despite clearly selling them
Thank you, this gave me a lot of confidence in how I was installing mine and clarifying a few little details.
You're welcome!
Thank you for the video. The instructions did not give me confidence between using the sticker/plastic washers or the metal washers on the top side of the motherboard. I was happy to find some content that confirmed I installed things correctly.
You are not the first to have this conundrum from what I can tell. Glad we could help
I love you videos! Very well explained and shown!
Yes! this is a very good video! This is exactly what I needed to know!!! Just bought the motherboard and 13th gen i5 processor, but wanted the Arctic cooler AIO to go with it. I didn't know if it would fit over the VRM cooling fins, with Arctic's cooling fan. You should put the Aorus motherboard and ARCTIC AIO in the description or the details to help people find your video. Thank you very much! Just sub'd !!!

Very well explained. Wonderful, clear footage and photos. Thank you for this video.

Amazing. There is no one like you in the world right now. the still frames made the point extremely clear. Can you do a follow up video on how to connect the cables?
straightforward and easy to understand. thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
What I've found is that you need Coller revision 7 which have modified motor cover. This cover does not interfere with capacitorts bellow the socket.

there seem to be new lga 1700 kit not that doesnt look like that big X anymore. They look a lot like the pre-lga 1700 now
This is the exact same problem I've run into!! I was about to freak out about having to order a new bracket, but turns out I have the newer...new bracket lol really helps that Artic made it look almost exactly the same as the old bracket (minus the two additional holes).
@@-CrimsoN- good that you noticed that now. I wrote that comment after noticing the one they shipped me after telling Arctic that the kit wasnt in the box. They shipped it for free, but still had to wait for it

Thank you! I just bought this and now I know hot install it.
Have you installed it yet? If so how did it go?
@@KLEEBZTECH Yep, I installed it days ago and it's working perfectly! CPU temps: 20-40 C with Intel Core i9 12900K.
Some people have said that the bracket for the MSI MAG B660M MORTAR WIFI DDR4 was too thick and the had to order another brand to make it fit correctly (something about not being snug against the CPU leaving too much space) but they don't say what brand or company they go with for the replacement bracket.
for LGA 1700 does is have to be mounted vertically or will it mess with the temps horizontally?
Thank you for such a detailed video!! One question, are the spacers on each side really necessary? I feel that they will be crushed flat once you screw on the pump anyways..?
I've done it without using them, but if you scratch your motherboard during installation there is a slight risk you could short something out potentially.
@@KLEEBZTECH Thanks for your answer, and your video. I slapped it on yesterday and I saw a -22 degrees cooler CPU coming from Cooler Master 360 AIO. That's an insane difference by swapping the cooler and using the correct brackets!
That's great to hear, glad we could help.
I was wondering why your previous was deleted (I shared the link, and I was told its no longer available). I am going to share this video instead. Thanks again for your work!
The other video was shot with a different camera and the quality was not good enough. We felt there was enough interest to improve the quality. This one will be staying. And thanks for sharing.
Thanks for showing the mounting plates. I was trying to install mine and struggling to figure out how the mount would fit. It says LGA1700 right on the box but didn't have the LGA1700 mounting plate in there but only the old one. Makes much more sense why it wouldn't fit.
I hear about those boxes occasionally. I sometimes wonder if they were returns and somebody bought one just to get the correct plate for a motherboard they already have.
Or someone just forgot to put it in the box.
Of course now it sucks because you have to wait to get the correct part. Good luck and enjoy the new system when you get it up and running.
@@KLEEBZTECH thanks!
If you have rev 7 new backplate for 1700 is similar one for 1200. First I thought that there is no 1700 backplate but there was new one, enhanced.

I had issue with arctic 420II pn 13900k. thermal paste is not even it spreads out on angles when I take it off. I tried it with new kit. is it 13mm or 14mm stands off for z790?
Hi, my kit is a Rv3 With original Pre-LGA1700 ( new model , you don't have it in your video ) i can use on MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI with a I7 13700k ? or i need the new mounting kit ? thank you
great vid, but on the arctic website there is a list of incompatible boards with this cooler and some specific z690 boards and the board you use is on that list, so we can assume that it will fit the aorus elite ax ddr4 board? or did you modify the cooler?
I am not sure exactly where you are seeing that but I have not seen it. I do know that some of the smaller boards won't work. We had no issues. Are you referring to GIGABYTE Z690M AORUS Elite AX DDR4? That board will not work but the one we are using is an ATX board GIGABYTE Z690 AORUS Elite AX DDR4. If this board is incompatible they did not mention that when they asked to use our video as the video for their channel instead of making their own. That would actually be kind of funny though. 😆
I think I found what you mention and it appears to be just the smaller boards which makes sense looking at those boards.
Was bringt das kit genau? Kühlt es dadurch besser? Ich verstehe nicht wesshalb man das brauch, habe einen i9 13900k wie sollten die temperaturen da ausschauen im verhältnis zum mit geliefertem?
Thanks for the help
No problem
Seems like these will be the perfect choice for mini itx z690's since the hoses come out the top of the CPU plate not the sides.
The pump block is quite large due to the VRM fan, honestly its actually not a great choice in my opinion unless you already know it will fit on your motherboard.
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
Thank you ❤️
You’re welcome 😊
On the pump block using the long screws are easy to screw in at first but feel like they need a lot of pressure later. are the long screws supposed to be used here?
It sounds like you may be doing something wrong. I would recommend rewatching closely to see which hardware to use.
I have the same thing on the 360 model. There's something with a thread inside the nut. I wrote to the manufacturer while I'm waiting. If they don't answer anything, I'll try to cut the thread inside.
the hardest part for me is putting the liquid cooler on the CPU at 6:20, because there are multiple gaps or circles where the screws go into pump, how can I know how to exactly position the screw
Hey man great video
please help me .. is urgent, the 3-pin connector of the colors of the heatsink which is connected ??
are the spacers (applied to both sides of the mobo) sticky (like do they stick to the mobo when you apply them)?
Yes they have an adhesive
Thank you so much!!!!
Glad it helped!
There were shorter and longer standoffs... for LGA 1700, which one do you use? It wasn't clear in this video the length. Thanks!
If you go back to the part where we show the parts we do mention that the ones we used are 13mm not including the threads. Approx at 1:06 in the video.
@@KLEEBZTECH Oh perfect, sorry I missed processing that part in my brain :(. Thanks!
That part is a little confusing because of all the part variations it can come with. And they probably have changed since we did the video.
Bought arctic freezer 280mm and it came with the pre-lga 1700 mount. What is the difference between that and the lga 1700 mount kit on the right side of the video clip? I have looked through amazon and it states its an upgraded version. Should i buy it instead of using the orginal pre-lga 1700 mount? Thanks
hey have you found out?
I'm so confused 😢 I have the z390 Asus board, the back plate doesn't align with the motherboard, there's a solid gap. Every thing is saying I need this upgrade kit but the cpu backing is raised and thick so I don't see it fitting at all even with the upgraded kit. I honestly am at a loss on what to do
I’m new to aio’s and have no clue where to put the 3 pin connector or the 4 pin connector and am also wondering if I have to do something with the wires that are directly connected to the fans and the radiator and also where to plug in the connectors and wires attached to the pump
One of our other videos might help. kzhead.info/sun/f9xpqLGagniAaoU/bejne.html
Thanks a lot, did you also notice the noise of the pump though? I can't change the rpm in the bios do you have this same issue?
I wouldn't say our pump was audible over the fans
@@KLEEBZTECH I have noctua af12x25 slapped on there, so there is practically no fan noise. Even when shaking the aio the pump noise persists
Great video! I don't know about the amount of thermal paste you applied but to each their own.

I have a question. Im using the 280mm Arctic freezer ii with z690 ddr4 motherboard. Dead on wanna go for the top configuration for best results. Do you know which case is suitable for this build? Im looking at corsair 5000d pc case at the moment. Thank you
It should be fine assuming you don't have really tall sticks of ram I think
@@KLEEBZTECH thanks for the fast replies. Appreciate it :)
First, I would like to thank you for this very detailed and informative video. I wouldn't have installed my 360 without it. Secondly, this is about Arctic, not your fabulous content, mounting this thing is still a nightmare. Arctic needs to make a much better mounting system (I had to install mine with the case upright, so I needed 3 hands;) fortunately...). Also had to sort of guess where the washers were to put those pathetic things into place. Arctic, please take a look at Noctua to learn what a good CPU mounting system looks like and copy it, the one you have is pathetic. After hours of dealing with this crap, I am happy to announce that the Freezer II 360 is fabulous and keeps my 12900k very cool, even when I abuse it (hasn't hit 85 yet, my established limit). All in all, a great cooler, a horrible mounting system, and a painful mounting experience. Was about to through it in the garbage when I came across your video, thank you, Cheers.
Glad we could help and it saved that 360 from the garbage 😆. You might want to comment on the copy of this video they uploaded to their channel. They seem to reply to comments. I am sure they take feedback. Happy customers are return customers. kzhead.info/sun/jbCJdLSnpGqbiYk/bejne.html
i just have the kit on the bottom left.. is it usable?
Is arctic liquid freezer 420mm compatible with asus prime Z790-P motherboard?
Hello sir and thank you for your video. Why plug in cpu_opt and not cpu_fan? Shouldn't the pump run at full speed or is it safe like that? Thank you in advance
From what I understand, generally the CPU_Opt will have a higher power output than the CPU_Fan header, but either should work fine for most AIO's. If your bios requires something to be plugged into the CPU_Fan, then it shouldn't be an issue to use that instead.
And some AIO's will have a pump connector and fan connectors, in which case I plug the pump into the CPU_Opt and the fans into CPU_fan.
Thanks lots
Happy to help
When you buy your hardware, check fitments immediately!! I bought a box that fits the 420 rads. Got the 420 freezer. Guess what? The rad no fit. it is really 457mm, NOT 420mm. And the mount hdwr not for 1700 - had to order that also. This is not a fun project so far. (and I am very pc proficient with many builds)
Do you know if it's possible to mount the pump block horizontally? Thanks :)
Doubt it.
Kleebz Tech although I guess you could say it might be possible depending on motherboard and such.
Thanks for asking! 🤗
If my mainboard is old type which is intel socket 1151, still need replace this new mounting kit? It will help more cool down my CPU?
This is for LGA 1700.

Hello! Has anyone installed this AIO(Arctic Liquid Freezer II series) on an Asus rog strix z690-f motherboard? Is it normal that the holes for the standoffs on the backplate are far enough away from the holes on the motherboard? This distance decreases as the standoffers are screwed in, but does this bend the motherboard PCB?
A heads up for anyone pairing this with a Lian Li O11D Evo - they’re not compatible. The new 1700 backplate is too thick/the cut out on the case isn’t wide enough. There’s plenty of pics on Reddit to see it for yourself.
Good to know.
Does this depend on your MB? I almost ordered this AIO, lucky enough I did one last research and found this comment
I'm installing my Liquid Freezer II 420 on Asus Pro Art Z690 i9 12900K. I can see I have to remove PCB cover so it fits. And when I scanned the code it said I had to REPLACE the pump PCB cover? My kit only came with 4 spacers, but I don't think it will make a difference on the backside with the rubber rings against the board (will it?). Other than that, great video. Thanks for the help.
What did you end up doing?
@@genericchannel9448 Have not installed, but the kit is now sold without the extra 4 spacers so if I do use it I will install the o rings directly against the board.
Mine too. I will contact them, but agree placing them on the MB makes the most sense
I called US support. Frankly he kinda guessed along. Basically said, place around CPU. When I pressed, he then said, it should be 8 - 4 front and back. He offered to send me a form to get 4 more washers. It bothers me that they are willing to let someone damaged a MB because they did not include the proper parts. I'll have to decide if I will keep it. Glad I did not tear down my PC.
Makes sense, only the 4 on the front are needed considering the rubber - mine only came with 4 as well.
is it safer to apply the cpu in the socket after you place the backplate?
Really should not make a difference.

Hi, I just installed the cooler and my pc isn't turning on and it's tripping the circuit breaker of our house. Any idea why it is happening?
Too many possibilities to really say. Is the circuit you're running it on already being heavily used? Have you tried it at a different one? Personally I always have my PCs connected to a ups.
I have the same motherboard but a 280 aio and in the bios it says the cpu is at 99c when my gpu is at 40c, do you know why this might be happening
Sounds like a mounting pressure issue, something might be interfering with the pump making solid contact with your CPU
That or maybe your pump just isn't working
