Hey everyone Rho here! Today we discuss the Inquisition's failure, and the truth of the Deathwatch!
Spoiler Warning to begin as the events we're discussing today are from the Warhammer 40,000 story "Deathwatch: Kryptman's War" by Ian St Martin. As always I really recommend you read the stories for yourself first without spoilers. As that's the best way to enjoy the lore for yourself!

  • Forget Guilliman, I want the returned, changed Lion to catch wind of not only the Inquisition, but the deathwatch's actions here.

  • Kryptman was excommunicated for more than "just" Octarius" he purged hundreds more loyal worlds as to creat a fire-break for the Tyranids. His excommunication was very valid.

  • Forget Guilliman or even Johnson finding out about this. If the Kharn, or worse, Vulkan returned and learned of this, civil war would be absolutely certain.

  • The situation in the Octarius system had been drawn into a stalemate. The cordon that the Inquisition established after Kryptmans downfall, was full of holes. But to add to matters, Khorne took a brief interest in the Octarius situation. A brief appearance by a Khornate deamon army to break the dead lock, things took a turn for the worst.

  • Not gunna lie, as much as the Inquisition is one of my favourite factions in Warhammer, I would like to see a story where they get a big ol preverbial Spanking or serving of Humble Pie and that it be Public knowledge and not a hidden fact!

  • I think a confrontation between the Inquisition and The Primarchs it’s inevitable.

  • The Inquisition vs Guilliman and likely the Lion is think is inevitable. As much as he hates the Ecclesiarchy and the Imperial Faith, guilliman has come to accept its importance in maintanining the imperium so far. He knows it is all lies but sometimes that is what people need to hear to keep them fighting. The Inquisition provides no such service and can be quite reasonably viewed as a threat to the imperium itself. The question then becomes who has the higher authority: those who claim to carry out the Emperor's will or the ones He calls his sons.

  • This situation could be used as a starting point for healing the rift between the wolves and the lions. As for Gillman, I doubt he would openly do anything against the inquisition do to their power base at this time, because it could spark a second civil war. Also, he's to pragmatic and will treat this in the same way he treated the gods blight virus. The Lion on the other was built for situations just like this one.

  • I want a second civil war between the primarchs and the eclesiarchy/ inquisition. Having Johnson smash some inquisitors would be awesome and cathartic.

  • Kryptmann: "exterminatus is excessive in the moment but will save the imperium in the long run"

  • You didn't mention the best part of him lying to Uriel, see the Ultramarines had found these refineries over a gas giant and placed in the path of the hive ships that were coming to that planet, waited until one of the hive ships were starting to eat before detonating it instantly killing one and a huge number of hive ships allowing them to easily take out the other.

  • We can see an Imperium civil war if even another Primarch returned. Taking out the Inquisition, & Eclisiarchy alone would be a monumental task with their fingers in every planet & eyes everywhere. If the Imperium wasn't facing just overwhelming external threats the internal issues would be an amazing story arc as the Primarchs try to rebuild the Emperor's dream.

  • Okay, this point has always seemed extremely derpy to me. How did BOTH the tyranids and the orks emerge stronger while fighting one another? The orks are extremely vast in number but not infinite, especially not when sustaining very likely massive casualties fighting the tyranids. And likewise, the tyranids might be able to grow with each devoured world but how many worlds do they get to devour with an entire ork empire battling them?

  • So... they excomunicated Kryptmann and than began to do basicly the same thing he did... fascinating.

  • This method made me think back to Freespace, one of the last classic space flight sims, specifically to the Ancients cutscenes.
