THE HARDER THE BETTER. Winter post knocking weather !

Everyone’s at it so we must be doing something right! The ground has been so wet for so long it’s been a NO to drive the tractor across any fields unless necessary! Because of the tracks and ruts the wheels leave. So a hard frost means we. An get around the fields and get some work done without messing the field up. And nick says posts go in better when the ground is firm. Wet ground equals wonky posts!
Maintaining and improving the farm boundaries and gateways is an important job on the farm and we have a lot to do. From doing it the hard and slow way, digging holes by hand which was taking a long time and very difficult... we are very thankful and happy for the use of a post driver machine.
In this video we are using the PROTECH Machinery P200S tractor mounted post driver, for the first time …which has been kindly lent to us by the team at PROTECH
www.protechmachinery.co.uk/tr...
This has enabled us to revolutionise the way we manage and maintain the field boundaries here at Dale Farm! Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching

  • "It's easier to break out of prison." I love that. I have gate envy seeing your metal gates, bent or not. Most of the gates on the farm where I grew up looked like the one you replaced. We spent a lot of time rescuing cows from the neighbors' property.

  • Such a winning combination, the pro tech is an awesome piece of kit combined with the Belarus and the front loader and Nick the skilled operator and a good woman boss to keep him right! Lots of good old creosote on the post all helps. It’s a pain in the butt when you are struggling with a poor gate every time you are feeding out etc. Great work on a suitable winters day x

  • Yes that Frosty weather is under-rated getting those Posts in nice & firm is priceless without the fields being knackered by the tractor also. I love that Post Knocker/Driver is so calming & I never tire of seeing up up & down thud sounds. Nick wrapped up warm & still wearing his shorts below excellent & saying its easier to get out of Prison rather than through the gate hence a Cow gate-crashed it so funny. Keep structuring the Farm's Boundaries & Gates its important Love to you Joanna & Nick x
