  • This is definitely one of my favorite parables because truth is in life it’s impossible to conquer all fear there is always at lessons left if u surrender to them life can flow. It’s like the thousand year old mind theory we don’t need to stay in groups to stay safe anymore but we do anyways. Very Zen

  • The samurai's reputation for being a bully preceded him. He took on 99 challengers and prevailed. He was fearful that one day his number would come up. To intimidate challengers, he held fast on his promise to kill anyone who would dare cross his path, or in this case cross his bridge. When the monk reappeared at the bridge as promised, he was taken back by a peaceful person who risked his life to defend his life and not for the sake of defending a reputation. He wanted what the monk had. Competition is for the ego. Being the best in a competitive environment comes with it the obligation to continually prove that reputation.
