    • All water snakes have an anticoagulant in their saliva. Herpetologists think it’s to make their struggling prey (fish, frogs, etc) bleed out quickly to prevent the snake from being injured while feeding. Although they aren’t venomous you can expect to bleed profusely from even a small bite. Most water snakes also have short tempers so while they’ll always opt to escape they won’t hesitate to bite (repeatedly) if cornered or caught.

  • Hellgrammites, grasshoppers as well as worms with a couple kernels of corn I think are the best for small and large mouth. If that’s what you’re looking for. Just my two cents.

  • A light or even ultra-light rod with 6lb test line and a 4" worm or helgamite was always the best bait on Sugar Creek in Bella Vista. Just look for the deep pools and hang on.

  • Plus golf courses usually dump so much fertilizer on the greens that they cause horrific weed/algae blooms, to the point of being hazardous to human life. ( I used to work at a gated community, that centered around a lake and golf course, the weeds got so bad that an Illinois high school swimming champion, trying to swim across the lake to his girlfriend's house got caught in them and drowned, a few years later, the association's weed cutting contractor fell off his boat, and the same thing happened.)

  • Instead of the Kayaks, think of a pirogue. If you make it yourself it'd make a good show that would interest others. Here's a link where the qualities of the pirogue are told which having plastic kayaks, you'd have a frame of reference to what the fellow says. kzhead.info/sun/d7mkhb6ibZyspps/bejne.html Louisiana State University has pirogue plans, there's a book where a fellow tells how he makes them, etc.

    • I think I mentioned in here, but basically you almost ALWAYS want to present your lure upstream and work it downstream. That is the most natural presentation and I’ve had countless occasions where I have made casts downstream and worked up with no bites to simply turn back around and throw upstream where I just fished, work it back to me, and smoke them!

You take us to some pretty places. I got to visit your state once going to Tyson Chicken school. We stayed at a place on the Arkansas River. We got to fish some but just from the bank and for an idaho boy that 93 degree weather and over 90 percent humidity was almost enough to make me stay inside. Almost!! Good to see you out there hitting it. Thanks for another video.
