This Warbandish cover of Oppi Fjellet made my day O.O
Glad to read this, friend. Hope Fenriz will not mind.
Great video - I love the animations! I thought it was silly too - it's exactly like the myth of feathers on Gallic helmets, which I will discuss soon.
Thank you! Very interesting topic. I remember that gallic feathers since childhood from Asterix and Obelix cartoons. Rather long-standing stereotype. That feathers could have ceremonial or religious meaning. But beyond all doubt, it would be really weird decision to wear such a thing in a battle.
I loved Asterix and Obelix when I was a child, and it took me an embarrassing amount of time before I second guessed these stereotypes. All of these stereotypes come from French renaissance paintings, which I will discuss. We believe the feathers come from the helmet's ear protections, since they move like wings.
@@ThisisBarris Indeed. If to fixate upright that side plates on montefortino helmet (which romans borrowed from Gauls), they will look like wings. I never thought about this before, very interesting. So, waiting for your next video!
@@MercenaryCamp Exactly! Sorry for the late reply, just realized you answered. I discuss it in my video :)
And with this I have finished all your videos; thanks for them, the videos were amazing, looking forward for more c:
This one is quite cheesy-looking :) My first animating expirience.
Indeed, people didn't wear horned helmets in battle. But there's this common misconception that military equipment has been 100% pragmatic throughout the ages. This is not at all true. Impractical and obsolete equipment has been used in battlefields from the neolithic period to the late 20th century.
yeah, you see Samurai helmets have big horns and stuff all the time. It's just finding that balance between practicality and intimidation. Horns and wings give that oomph factor
The horns if they was ever used by the vikings would have been to scare the enemy more than practicality.
The horned helmets could be used... For parades or something
This channel deserves more attention!
Thank you!
So many things I had not thought of! Stunning job and fantastic vid, thank you so much for making me laugh so much after a day of work!vI'll come back, subscribed!
All those reasons also apply to the Swaidan winged helmet, and why it would be a terrible idea in real battle.
Very good!
This is actually gold
This was amazing :D
Thank you )
That's okay! :D
Great job!
Fantastic...
mighty video
It still looks cool as fuck
:) keep doing . It's was great:)
Thank you, colleague. But this one is so cheesy, it's my first experience in Adobe Animate :D
How i do not know your chanel? Auto sub
its not useless, it does terrify enemies. teutonic knights have them and theyy are terrifying
Perfect haha
Thank you, friend :)
Viking, Frisii-Saxons wore horned helmets...
OFF TOPIC: Hello, I was asking myself if javelin users like Gauls might have used any winged helm. They are often depicted as wearing cloth a kite-like shield and a winged helm. When I was young, many Germanic characters were depicted wearing horned helms, from the fat lady singing opera in cartoons to goth in Astérix and Obélix. Is it Opera fashion that led to this view of antiquity? I mean winged helm is a representation of Hermes which is god of Merchants, and Gauls were good merchants like Scandinavian were. But LUG the god of merchants is depicted wearing a Horned Helm. Is it because he's more a tough man than a warrior because he's a merchant? Maybe someone knows if the horned helm means protection and winged helm means skirmish or somthing. Thanks
I suppose that winged helmets could play only a ceremonial role. And I really doubt that they were used in battles. For two reasons. 1st As I said in this video, wings as well as horns are totaly inconvinient and impractical. And in a battle no one wants to be killed. And 2nd. Bronze was extremelly expensive in that period of time. Besides It's very complicated task to forge such a helmet. So I'm absolutely sure that javelin users didn't use them simply because thay were poor and couldn't afford such an expensive purchase. So I think that winged helmets were some kind of analog of nowadays dress uniform. Than you for your question :)

Кстати, насчёт рогатых шлемов, такие шлемы я видел и у испанцев до нашей эры, откуда инфа? Rome:Total War
They have horned helmet made of bronze, but probably were used for religious rituals
Empire Earth sword sound effect
But on the plus side at least you get to ram into people for no reason
But still in the movies they look pretty badass
The more horns, the better raid.
This is awesome my friend! Is it true that Vikings really wore horned helmets? I always thought that it was just in movies. Also, why did they wear those helmets? Did they have any purpose? Finally, your animations are great. I cant wait to see them get better along the way! :D
No, They didn't wear them at all. It's a myth which was popularized by movies and videogames. Such a helmet is absolutely inconvenient. Thanks for watching :)
The myth was actually only popularized by Richard Wagner, a playwright. People copied him, and so the myth was born.
You absolutely right. At first that horns appeared in his "The Ring of the Nibelung" opera.
Rewatching videos, waiting for the rhodok chant video
Glad to read this! Thank you! The new episode is still in progress and soon will be complete.
No is a well known fact that Viking use skulls for boozing
Классно
I did not want to look for your video. But holy hell, professional artists and fantasy designers got too crazy. I had to share your advice with them, for my own opinion was not enough. Good video, I could watch rotten Vikings getting killed ALL day long... :D
What about tiny horns.

Prussians had spikes on the top
Not in medieval times
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Кстати, ты русский, или американец?
Русский)
Horned helmets were worn by shamans in ceremony not battle
They didn't wear horned helmet battle but why so many movie look them wear them battle it is very ridiculous
Also downward swings - the hit wont glance for sure and the blade will slide and transfer most of its energy right inbetween the helmet and horn.
equally stupid the guy in bare chest at 1:59 so why was he laughing
