In this video, I install an aluminum electric tarp kit on my 1996 freightliner FL70 dump truck. I got the parts from carolinatarps.com and this is the kit I used: www.carolinatarps.com/item/10001
So great to see our system in one of your videos, Jesse. Enjoyed the camera work, the pacing, and watching every step; especially the moments of problem solving and honest feedback. This really goes a long way in helping us improve - very well made!
Thanks for your support on the video, and the quality of the whole system is top notch. Looking forward to another install in the future with a bigger truck
Maybe I missed it after my viewing, but; Is there a way to operate it in case of motor being broke off or losing power?
I like to see a company acknowledge that maybe something could be better and work on correcting the issue
Great kit!
Carolina Tarps A sort of hinged pipe to protect the wiring under the bed would be handy. Or a flexible pipe from the motor to a standing pipe between cab and bed, being long enough to gap the size of the fully tilted bed.
I feel indeed privileged to have so many fine vids from Jesse Muller this weekend!
ha ha
Now I consider myself an expert on electric tarp installation. Think I'll start a shop, thanks!
Awesome. More than one video from Jessie over a couple days time is a reason to celebrate. Quality video worth watching.
All you had to do is raise the bed of the truck and I love your shows you're a master Carpenter I bet you don't talk down to people you explain and talk about it like you're talking to a friend I like that keep it up
Love the technical, real and comfortable too watch vibe of your video's Jesse.
1.Heat shrink on your cable ends before they go green. 2. Ziptie coolant line as an insulator around the cable where it goes through the frame. Rubber on either end of the swing of the arms wouldn’t hurt either. Save you from listening to the rattling down the roads.
At 2 or use grommets. Hose would make the bend bigger so further of the steel=more possible for something to get stuck and pull on the cable.
Nice tarp systeem. Good quality. Very nice that you’ve give a demo how to mount this! 👍👊
Very nice instal there Jesse 👍🏽 One observation from me or should I say modification that I would make is a cowling over the front, I would fit a cover right along the full length to keep both tree branches and the weather from the roll and brackets. That would be a good thing I feel as it would protect your set up and also keep it dry in the winter months.
Jesse not only are your videos great quality but we actually learn some thing. Thankyou.
Jesse another excellent video with lots of info now Carolina Tarps just has to link your video and they will be in a lot better shape on the install.😱🤭🦾👏👍
Adding even more flexibility to a great piece of equipment; great job.
Great video! Thanks for the tips, about to install mine in Michigan.
Jesse, you are one hard working man. Much appreciated video. Thanks.
Great videos today Jesse. That truck tarp was very informative. Thanks for sharing!
That's a really well thought out system. Very nice.
Nice job brother, I'm surprised not to see your son not helping you with this install. You keep doing what you do and stay safe and protect your family. Much love from Decatur IL.
Great video and I appreciate the effort you took to add the aerial shots! I have an older model. It doesn’t have the 45deg. angel on the end. It may not be the same brand but I was wondering where the round guides on the end fit. I have two on each side of the bed. I think they are to keep tarp centered and not contacting the wall of the bed and rubbing the fabric. Good job. JBA & Son’s Trucking, Magnolia TX.
Cool system. Those mud flaps are amazing!
I always get excited seeing a video of yours pop up. Thanks!
Awesome. Would be fun to rig up a smaller version of that on my little utility trailer. Thanks for all the videos this weekend!
A job well done.Jesse you did your home work. You took your time to get it just how you wanted to work and look good. Money well spent.
Jesse, thank you for the video. My husband Paul really enjoyed this one.
Thank you Jesse I have a 5ton 1997 Super Duty I will be checking out Carolina tarps and to follow your installation was and Will be a great help
Jesse you and your family are awesome!!!
That was one hell of a job. Good work, great quality. 👏👏👍👍
Nice job Jesse! Enjoyed the work and explanations. I always learn something from your vids. Thanks for posting and take care!
Bloody hell Jesse. You've been smashing out quality videos this week. Another great addition to the truck. In the UK we call them easy sheets. Keep DOT happy. Shame we've now lost your famous 360 camera mounting location
Jesse is filling the void since Andrew Camarata stopped posting.
@@FWtravels I have noticed Andrew has taken to Facebook sharing his and others content. Do admire his creativity work ethic and skills but feel disheartened by his lack of content. With respect to him we are lucky for an insight into his life and business. At least there's Jesse & Matt Diesel creek
@@AW-Services If you check out his unlisted "B roll" videos he gives some explanations. He has a ton of stuff that is almost done but doesn't release anything until he has a complete story. He has also been fighting computer and software issues. They were chit chatting and even mentioned Jesse has the same thing going on with his channel (the long production time not the computer issues). Some of their videos take over a year to get all the footage. I too wish he would post more often but he has his own style and way of doing things. That is one of the things the make KZhead unique is the way makers can do it the way they want, when they want, how they want.
@@TheKajunkat two incredible channels that are BS free and honest. No begging for subs, likes and smash the fcuking bell icon crap like all the others
You are on a roll!! Every thing looks awesome!
You know Andrew could have gotten you into that dash way faster
Great job Jess a lot of modifications but you did it..👍👏
8/14/22. Great install on yur Carolina Tarp/dump-load cover. Lots of helpful info. Very good job!👍👍👍🛠⚙😊
Nicely done, great explanation of installation, thanks.
cool on the live bottom trailer the i haul it runs on cable system i crank it in the winter time by hand just not to mess the motor great work on yous well done sir Jesse
Well done Jesse, a good job, and interesting, following your installation. Again, imagine the cost if you had got someone else to install this equipment. I'm proud of your initiative Jesse, a big saving in labour costs. Bob. NZ.
I always use serrated, nyloc or lock washers on any bolt like that... Informative vid for anyone putting on one... I always give a thumbs up too....
Love your Channel, bud. Can't believe you aren't at 250k Subs. Great videos, thorough explanations, creative editing.
Nice addition
Excellent video.
Nice work on the bed tarp install.
Only a suggestion may want to put a guard around tmotor to make sure a tree limb doesn't take it out
Great job Jesse, agree with other comments about heatshrink on electrical terminals and protecting cable that runs through the chassis hole. Also agree that those white nylon bumpers don’t seem like they have a lot of tolerance but I’m sure you will Macguyver a solution.
Good job! Looks like a sweet setup
Nicely done Jesse, great videos. Great job very professional 👏 👍
Great demo Jesse.
Another quality informitive video , thanks for sharing .
Nicely installed Jesse looks Great
Straight Thank you 🙏🏽
That terp it looks nice on your truck it makes the truck run safe with bigger louds ang it looks much better on the truck. Kind regards from London UK.
Works and looks great !
Nice work
Good detailed installation, Just a little reminder that on all battery connections you want to use adhesive heat shrink... a little bit of protection goes a long way against corrosion that will eventually compromise your wiring.
...not only corrosion but vibration as it will keep snapping wire strings where clamped, one by one until it break off...
Thanks for sharing! 👍
Good job !
great install
Hay Jesse great job on the tarp don,t stop there a little color paint the front bumper sliver then rims and stand back and yes 🖌🖌🖌just a idea
I genuinely like your dump truck. Hope it lasts you for many years.
Jesse you can readjust the width of the tarp by the motor with the bolts. Just move them inward a little bit. The tarp id binding up by the brackets. Also you can wind it the other way could help too if need be.
Nice install Jesse.👍🏼 That's the exact same tarp I'm getting ready to install on my dump truck, they do make quality kits and you get what you pay for....well sometimes, sometimes not so much.🤣
A good video Jesse - informative.
When I hauled garbage we had 48 foot trailers. Some had roll tarps that you manually roll it from the drivers side to passenger side. Those tarps cost 1500 just to have the tarp shop remove the tarp. So tarps are very expensive.
You did a nice job in that install. 2 observations: It be worth it to buy two more of the plastic bumpers for where it touches in the rear. 2 per side. That would give you a little more leeway in the event the arms shift through use and uneven loads. More landing surface area. The other is I agree with some of the others that it would be a good idea to add two 8-10" lengths of conduit where the cables pass through the holes in the cross members underneath. Make a slit lengthwise and go over/around the cables as they are and then zip tie closed.
I also thought that those plastic bumpers should have been about twice as wide as they are. Very little extra area if the bar comes down anything other than 100% straight every time.
Diesel creek
asphalt woven wire loom {wrap} is the correct stuff to use. and use trailer dock bumpers where the tarper lands.
Excellent content.
Nice job
wow.. im surprized that motor needs such heavy gauge wire ,,you wouldnt think just rolling up a cover would need all that much ... cool vid !!!
Great stuff👍
Nice idea and nice job Jesse 👍
Good job
I just had to install one of the on a dump truck last week and I just welded it and it’s pretty cool and ez after I did it
Thanks for sharing !!
Good stuff !
JESSE THE BRUT, GREAT VIDEO AND DAD. RETIRED 77, USAF, VFW.
Great job keep on keeping on!!
Jesse another great informative video. Thanks man
Very cool, good job
Just the video I needed to chill out too! Cracking job although I was a little disappointed there wasn’t a chainsaw used on the dashboard lol!
I thought about doing this, but I decided to climb on top and roll it out myself, saved a lot of money
Nice installation but please consider adhesive heatshrink and solder on all those connections. The inline fuse near the battery looked a bit exposed too. A lot of current there could easily cause a fire if connection goes resistive. It works really well, Thanks for such a clear explanation ;)
Another good movie Jesse Watch them all. greetings from the Netherlands
Glad i watched this. Thanks!
OMG I thought I was at Diesel Creek with that intro. Thanks for the bonus but please remember that us brits do need our beauty sleep as well. - ah well I will just have to have a sleep in manana lol
Good Job 👍👍
Jesse:Why the hell are you working in water ??? You had every opportunity to dump that stff when you brought that piece of equipment over to the truck. What the Hell !!!! Love you videos and your work ethic---rpr
I had the forks on the machine when I started it and then switched to the bucket so I never even knew it had water until I went to stand in it. IF the bucket was on the machine when I stepped up onto it then I would have saw it, just bad timing I guess
Looks a good solution. Maybe the vendor would give you something back if you show them this video; it would be a good reference for anyone else installing the same thing.
,,,,GOOD ONE, NICE WORK, KEEP SAFE..
Nice setup, really should protect that wire even if you use split loom.
good to see all your progress and looking good, sorry I have not read thru all the notices, from an electrical point it would have been wise to put heat shrink or insulation tape on the connections, all it take is for one to slip and short out,
Nice to see dash work without the use of a chainsaw 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Jesse. Nice install. I live in NY also and understand how the salt corrodes everything. I would have used some shrink on the electrical connections and some protective spray or paste.
and solder. peace
sweet man, it can double as a trampoline
Nice work, installing it I think you got a nice product for what you payed, well worth the money….
Good job and it looks like it will last. The tarp will save you tickets on the road too.
Wow Jesse, that isn't very easy is it? Glad you're smart with stuff like that my friend...
IT works 👏
your videos are really educational. Im not a machinic or anything just enjoy watching in dividuals tare things down and put it back together. also,i was thinkin about buying a small dump truck what year is the two you have?
I installed a manual crank tarp on my 1 ton dump a month ago. The instructions do suck, but it works great
Once again great video I enjoyed it but just food for thought I always put the motor on the passenger side when the motor gives out and it will lol you just pull the bolt stick a handle on the shaft and crank it in
The breakers are nice but personally I wouldve done a relay set up (yea i know more technical and what not, plus more stuff to corrode, i live just over the boarder in CT) for the switch in the cab to keep wire size down, i have a Richards king of covers tarp, i have a standard toggle to operate the hydraulic motor, and add a bungie to each tarp arm or a rachet strap for each side for them windy days, keeps from slamming the arms and bending them(only down side to the preloaded spring systems)
I wondered how those things worked; all along, Camarata must have been flicking a switch !
It's money well spent. We have the NHVR here in Australia which is similar to the DOT, they will fine you for every possible little thing. The fines are not cheap either.
