    • I know Full PLL but not full OLL (I know 2-look). I average 16 seconds and my best recommendation is to focus on your F2L and Cross. My F2L takes 7-8 seconds and my cross takes 1-2 seconds so I'm usually done Cross and F2L in 8-10 seconds. I focused a lot of my time on working on lookahead and doing my F2L more efficiently. I used to average 23 seconds and my F2L would take 12-13 seconds, so I decided to work on that and learn full PLL and thats how I got sub-20.

  • One way that I increased my J-perm speed is by using my right index finger when executing the F’ move since the U move “loads” the index finger and if you “carry” it through R’, then you’re already in a position to just flick the F face counterclockwise. That’s helped me, though I know it’s unorthodox. I went from about 2 seconds for J-perm to around 1.10 on average. I’ve only really been speedcubing since November so.. I’m slow lol

Your PLL video J perm starts with a regrip, but your J perm in this video doesn’t. Would it be safe to assume that this current J perm fingertrick is faster than the old? Edit: the new J perm fingertricks look trickier than the old one, and maybe more risky?

  • Assuming you are similarly dextrous with both hands, would it make more sense to learn the mirror for every algorithm so it can be done with both hands? For example, you would learn sune and its mirror so you could do it with either hand, but you would also learn antisune and its mirror. That way, if you end up having to use your left hand during f2l (or during an alg that has you switch grip in the middle, like niklas or something) you can always transition to last layer without having to reset your grip to the other hand by just completing the rest of the solve with the hand you were already using.

    @stupdude3@stupdude34 жыл бұрын
    • Sounds good in theory, although for a lot of algs I feel like the time spent into making your 2nd hand good is better spent on just learning another alg. This is like being method neutral, where it's obviously better if you could do it, but the time it takes to be good at it is better spent somewhere else.

  • Love your videos, man! Just curious about one thing.. I perform the T-perm without that regrip you did to execute the U move (with the U people use in OH, putting the index finger over the FLU sticker, mirroring what you did at The very first U move I kinda alternate between the 3 commons ways of avoiding the regrip as well (the first being the pinch U, and the remaining 2 ones being the ones people use in OH). In fact, I can't even do it properly in any other way around (I mean, not sub-1). So, in resume, I think I can say the way I do it is regripless, right? My TPS isn't very high, but I consider that at least most of my fingertricks skills are at a decent level. Can you please give a try and send me feedback about yours thoughts on the way I execute? And sorry for the English, that's not my native language and I rarely use yours rsrs

    @AyrtonLucena7@AyrtonLucena74 жыл бұрын
    • That finger trick is regripless. I think it's slightly worse in this situation since you only have 1 move's time to get your finger ready, since it's a longer distance than usual to set it up at FLU. If it was the same finger trick but used mid-alg, then it would likely be better, like for the last U of R U' R' U R U R'

I am kind of wondering what kind of progress i can expect, as to not set my goals too high. I dont have any crazy goals in mind, like i would be very happy with sub minute consistantly right now(current best is 1:19, average 1:45ish). Got these times using the newbie method and have been practicing F2L for a few days now, but my brain might take a while to see all the ways to set up pairs. Hand movement is currently really shit, but i expected no less at this stage. I do cube every day for a bit, but nothing crazy. maybe an hour a day. • How are you so good at knowing what I want to improve on? On February 28th, I wanted to improve my F2L. Of course, you come out with a video for that. On March 17, I wanted to learn some COLL algorithms, and once again, you come out with a video about how to learn algorithms. Today, I wanted to learn how to turn faster. And for the third time, you come out with a video for it. You are absolutely amazing. The best cubing channel, in my opinion.

    • There are the 41 basic f2l algorithms. You should really learn these, then go on with your last layer. Learn 4look last layer first, then full pll and then full oll. With these algorithms you can get sub 15! When you still have trouble getting faster learn how to insert pairs into the back slot and look at more alhorithms for cases you solve very inefficiently. You can do it! Believe in you! Ps: practice!

  • Just gonna say this as a pianist. You don’t want to practice at speeds much faster than you think you can. All you’d be doing is training your muscle-memory to memorize mistakes. You want to start off slowly with very deliberate moves, and slowly up the speed. That’s how you train your muscle-memory and effectively increase the speed with no mistakes.
