What is a Noun?
A Noun is a word used as the name of a person, place, or thing.
The word thing includes
(i) all objects that we can see, hear, taste, touch, or smell
(ii) something that we can think of, but cannot perceive by the senses.
The different kinds of Nouns are :
1. Proper and Common Noun
2. Common Noun is further classified into two types :
a. Collective and
b. Abstract
3. Countable and Uncountable Noun
Exercise:
Identify Common, Proper, Collective, or Abstract nouns in the given sentences
1. The crowd was very big.
2. Always speak the truth.
3. Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India.
