In what seemed like overnight, I became an old lady and fell behind with the times. If it weren't for my 21 year old son, I wouldn't even know who Tom is. There were individual artists and collaborations of artist in the past that tried what Tom is currently doing and we're not given the access or distribution to the underground or mainstream audiences. Two very specific cases of this was the stop the violence movement with a collaborative song called self destruction in the late 80's and the west coast all stars with we're all in the same gang. Both had very positive messages aimed at the hip hop audience in an attempt to cull the violence and negative trends arising in hip hop. Neither one was given air play or video time on the radio or MTV VH1 OR BET. listen to the two tracks and you'll understand why this is, the industry blacklists songs and artists that speak truth to the people. Hopsin is a perfect example as is KRS-1 who like Tom are very heavy on substance and subject matter that denounces the industry standards and it's negative impact on society.

Two very specific cases of this was the stop the violence movement with a collaborative song called self destruction in the late 80's and the west coast all stars with we're all in the same gang. Both had very positive messages aimed at the hip hop audience in an attempt to cull the violence and negative trends arising in hip hop. Neither one was given air play or video time on the radio or MTV VH1 OR BET. listen to the two tracks and you'll understand why this is, the industry blacklists songs and artists that speak truth to the people. Hopsin is a perfect example as is KRS-1 who like Tom are very heavy on substance and subject matter that denounces the industry standards and it's negative impact on society.

And now I see people disrespecting our troops and veterans and it really makes me wanna throw them out in the front lines for 10 minutes with all the heavy equipment(no guns obviously😂)but to show them what our military goes through day by day.
