Kazakhstan, 1729: The Dzungars, a ferocious Mongol tribe, has swept across the steppes. Kazakh sultans have left their people to fend for themselves. Driven by revenge and his love for Zere, young Sartai assembles a detachment of teenage Kazakh warriors called 'myn bala', 'a thousand boys' in Kazakh. Even as he fights the emotional turmoil experienced by every teenager in the world, he leads his troops into a historical battle against the Dzungars, freeing his country after decades of terror.
Greetings from Mongolia. Remember that Mongols don't hate Kazakhs. We fought together in ww2 against Axis powers and fought together in 1300s Genghis Khan's times. Kazakhs live in peace in Mongolia and we Mongols respect Kazakhs. Why are we fighting?

Dzungar Mongols invaded Kazakh lands because they were being driven out of their lands by the Chinese. The Dzungars seeked safe passage but were denied by the Kazakhs thus war started. Google Dzungar genocide. The chinese killed 80% of the Dzungar Mongols. When Russians invaded Kazakhstan we Mongols let Kazakhs come to our lands as refugees and gave them safe passage. Today 120,000 Kazakhs live in Mongolia and we mongols live in peace with them. We Mongols have no problems with Kazakh people. We are the same branches of an tree. Same ancestry. Not too long ago we were riding horses and praying to Tengri.
The movies is about 50 years before Dzungar genocide. Survivors of the Dzungar genocide were mostly found refuge in Kazakh khanate and a few went to Russia, todays Kalmykia.
Kazakh people established a Kypchak empire in Europe. Traces still remain in Gagauz people from Moldova.
Those people are Cumans, closely related to Kipchaks, who the Kazakhs descend from.

As a clueless westerner, why are the Mongols and Kazakhs arguing so much in this comment section? Is there still rivalry going on? Other problems? We learn nothing of the area growing up over here, I apologize for my ignorance on the matter.
Aion Arkhe The Turkic people had their own empires, which spread out from modern day Kazakhstan. The people known as the Huns conquered the vast Eurasian steppe, and took over the land known as Sarmartia who were an Iranian people. The Huns eventually faded away but there were successive Turkic empires called khanates, and expanded all the way to modern day turkey. The sarmartians eventually assimilated into Slavic culture in modern day Eastern Europe. Eventually the Mongols decided they wanted a shot at having an empire and basically conquered most all of Eurasia, and eventually that split apart into different Khanates under Turkic control. Then from there, they were slowly annexed by Russia, and had to wait until 1990's for independence.
very interesting to me too. as someone from southeast asia, these parts of the world are a mystery to me. Their nomadic culture is fascinating

The Huns were the north-west most branch of the Xiongnu who managed to escape after defeat at Ikh Bayan, and they did not exactly come from Mongolia but more likely Tuva republic in modern Russia.

To point out something very important to the people who did not know: the Manchu dynasty known as Qing Dynasty began a Holocaust of the Dzungarian people, pushing the remnants westward to the steppe of Kazakhstan, where they turned on the local people for not supporting them. There are not many Dzungars, if any, that are still alive. On one side, Kazakhs fought bravely and without rest, and then on the other, the Chinese empire ordered a massacre. I have nothing against China except that they are giving in to Capitalism, they are claiming Mongol legends and land to be their own, and they are working to suppress Tibetan and Uighur peoples.

No but seriously, as a Kazakh, I am pretty much used to comment section wars against Mongols as I literally have no clue why they hate us this much, the state of Mongolia has accepted a lot of Kazakhs to live there and this is wonderful which made me think that maybe they do like us, but the comment sections on here show that Mongols literally don't know who we are and where we came from, if you did, you'd know that we literally descended from the same ancestor. Anyways, never ceases to amaze me.

It's because some Kazakh want zero relationship with Mongols and tell lies. They do not like the fact we share same root, culture. Plus some of them get brainwashed by Russians. Thinking Kazakhs and Mongols are not same people. Mind the fact that Kazakhs are Mongols with Kipchak Turkic influence and Mongolians are Mongols who were influenced with Tibetan buddhism. The fight between Mongolians and Kazakh is about the difference with language and religion, but both once had one religion, Tengri. Now the rivalry is due to one speaks Mongol language and the other speaks Turkic language. The other is buddhist/ shamanist and the other is muslim.

Why is it that movies about Central Asia (or in this case: Central Asian movies) so rare in Canada and America? In regards to all the movie sites and stores you would think these are easy to find. The same applies to Russian movies
Before the name "Mongol" was used the Mongols were under a different name, the Rouran,Khidan,Shiwei,Xianbei,Donghu and ruled Mongolia before the Turks...Gok Turks were from the 6th century the Xianbei ruled 400 years earlier.. The Huns were a mix of Turks,Mongols, Tungus and Siberian and Iranian tribes.

I think in the long run we had more brutal tendencies than Mongols. Whereas great Chinggis Khan give the enemy empires a chance to surrender (He wished to make other empires part of his own empire), we wished to build an empire in the ashes of the other empires. With China, we did not succeed, the only reason they won was due to Ferghana horses. Rome nearly fell along with their allies, but they had a good leader and there in Europe were traitorous people.

Can someome translate what the words myn and bala mean please, and do the have anything to do with the turkish language. The is a town in turkey called bala. I'm curious to know if the two are related.

Mongols came to modern Mongolia in early middle ages... All monuments in Mongolia until 10-11'th century are turkic.... everything...
