No Way there's already a movie called help
Even after 14mins no police came.
There was other people calling them so they were busy
iiam CÀŁƏB They had their own doppelgänger
Movie time doesn't work the same as irl time. Truth is we don't know how long it really took them to escape from their summer home to their friends. Time is normally "slowed down" so the viewer can get that thrill of suspense and horror along with them. It could have just been a really intense 14-20 mins with the cops possibly being a little late. We're also show they did in fact show up when the family goes back the next day. They're greeted to a burning cop while red's son stands in front, lighter in hand and assuming a Jesus like pose with his arms out heavily implying he's the one who delt with them.
It probably took them long because they ran into their tethered doppelgangers

ZackM I don’t think mind control automatically means the end of the world. When I hear mind control I think hypnotism. In get out they used mind control to lure blacks to a sleepy helpless state but they weren’t trying to end the world by controlling his mind just wanted to try and be black lol
ZackM ya but that has nothing to do with fluoride in the water or even mentioning it. She says the fluoride is for mind control. Nothing to do with the end of the world.

It makes so much sense how Adelaide knows that there was a secret door to underground facility.
Here's what I still can't figure out... From the theory videos and articles I've read about this movie, it seems like most people think that Adelaide didn't know that she was tethered, but I have such a hard time believing that because of things like your point. How could she remember the secret door but not the switch with the real Adelaide? I know that a lot of people say she "blocked out the memory" of the switch, but if you think about it, making the switch would be a success for the fake Adelaide, so why would she block that out?
@@lizanoelle2643 I’m pretty sure she knew the whole time she was a double because how can you forget that. I think the movie at the end was showing the audience the truth or from the boy’s perspective
@@lizanoelle2643 It's some form of self-brainwashing. After Adelaide encountered her doppelganger first time she was unable to speak and was diagnosed as been suffering from PTSD. Actually she was not, the main problem was that she was not Adelaide but Red the clone who didn't have the faculty to speak. And Red (The real Adelaide) had hoarseness of voice because of she was strangulated by the clone as a child causing her damaged vocal cords.
🤯🤯
Now that explains why she was not able to shout for help after Red handcuffed and left her
Spartan Aryan also the reason the original didn’t leave, is that they switched places. The shadow became the human, the human became the shadow.
I forgot about the choking. I assumed she lost most volume because of lack of speaking after a while. All the other clones could not speak she might have stopped talking much.

I always thought it was interesting how, when “Adelaide” is telling her husband about the other girl when she was younger and how she’s afraid she’ll come for her, she doesn’t say why the girl would want to harm her. When you watch it the first time, it doesn’t really seem that significant, we just immediately assume the doppelgänger is evil so that’s why she’d come for her. But with the realization that “Adelaide” is actually a Tethered, we realize why. She’s genuinely afraid in that scene, afraid the real Adelaide is going to come for her to take back the life she stole.
DUDE
Just rewatched it and noticed this too! The way she was THAT terrified and assumed the doppelgänger was evil instantly stuck out to me the second watch, because you’d have to have a reason to believe that little girl would do you harm to be that frightened (and so many years later)
I also noticed how the real Adelaide never harmed the real children and how the tethered took pity on the tethered daughter when she was dying.
Thats why when she saw the family outside she started freaking out, because she new it was the real Adelaide coming back for her
there are so many easter eggs in this movie omg

@@nahiyanalamgir7056 What do you mean, change in lifestyle? If Jason was switched he would've been trapped underground for less than half a day, there's no way he'd become that crazy in such a short amount of time...
I know I’m late but I have some theories: I think the main message was meant to portray that we shouldn’t label tethered as bad and humans as good. It’s about the conditions they grew up in. For example, the person to make the tethered stand up for themselves was actually human, and Jason still loved his mom even after realising she was tethered and that he was half tethered. I also felt vibes of trust between Jason and Pluto which could have been because they both sympathised each other, both being half tethered half human. I think this is a really powerful message and it may not be what Peele was trying to portray but it’s what I got from the movie.
I agree with you. His interpretation was insightful, but I think he did a bit of overreaching with the explanation. Some of his "plothole" questions were easily answered with simple solutions.
Exactly. It's a commentary on the class system in America, and the idea that we see the lower class as non humans, when in reality anyone could be in that position and it's all about environment.
Why was Jason’s face burnt?
Arthur Morgan x I think it was because the “real” Jason played with a spark ring toy, but the “fake” Jason only had a lighter. If the fake Jason had to act out what his double was doing, when the real Jason used the spark toy close to his face the fake Jason burned himself on the lighter
Also if we were in their situation would we be so different
Realizing Red was the real Adelaide made me so mad that I was rooting for the fake one the whole time.

BlaadeKing 1 it does... Maybe when she stopped dancing she forgot what “rhythm” means.
@@fractal_mind562 I was trying to figure this out. So what about this: Adelaide upstairs dancing is actually mirroring the REAL version downstairs instead of the other way round. That's where she got her rhythm from dancing.
@@jamesgabrielmartin9568 but Adelaide downstairs sucked at dancing. She kept running into walls and shit
By far the most terrifying thing I found about the movie is the fact she got switched and the fake one was brought up to become a "normal" person. Whereas the normal real person at the start turned into the murderous, disturbed being. *It really shows how you're the product of your environment.*

Actually it does make sense that when the real person goes to another city that the doppelganger would move too. This was hinted at in the opening statement before the film started that said that the US is full of thousands of miles of abandoned tunnels. This could theoretically explain this. If they made clones of everyone in the US, then there are tunnels under the whole US.

It’s kinda sad that reds life was taken away from her and her family will never know that the mother they have always had was actually the double.....
I mean unless Jordan does a sequel where the son comes out and tell the rest of the family that she’s the double.. he did hear everything that happened between Adelaide and Red, and at the end he knows she’s the evil one (hence why she smiles evilly at him and he pulls down his mask)
Well the thing is her family is still the double's family. Because the double is the one who married and had kids.
Colonel Cosby why on earth would you think the boy at the end was a double, and the one with the burned mouth was her real son? That would imply that at some point before, her son was snatched and switched. Also, he wasn’t smiling at her at the end. He looked at her with disdain. And her smile was a small, yet menacing one, she knows that he knows the truth. He pulls the mask down to hide his face from her.

I fins it amazing after seeing the ending that when Red Adelaide explained the Tethered in the house, she made it seem like they were "shadows" and describing how bad their life was. I think this is because Addy knew a good life before she was forced into a non communicative community, eating raw rabbit. Red's voice is jacked because she was strangled and never got any assistance after. She also cuts the head off of the stuffed rabbit in the vacation home because she had such a distaste for rabbits after eating them all this time. "Adelaide" moved towards the shadow children with compassion before they died both times because she knew what they had been through. Doesnt need explaining to be honest
Peele is playing both sides, so whatever someone's interpretation is, it will be correct.
I think it’s an allegory for how we villainise the marginalised and victimise the privileged
This is my favorite channel EVER!
So you can call the surprise twist to this movie by the use of the Thriller shirt from Michael Jackson. If you recall from this music video, at the end it was revealed that MJ was one of the monsters all along as evidenced by his yellow flashing eyes. Kinda like how in this movie, Adelaide was actually a Tethered all along. Very cool foreshadowing, Mr. Peele!
Or was it foreshadowing that jason is one of the tethered as well? There are theories that he was switched a year ago when he got lost or after the grandmother died or his tethered side is stronger than his normal side given that they (the kids) are half and half
Or if you’ve watch ANY and I mean ANY piece of media about evil doppelgängers then you can see the plot twist coming from the very beginning of the movie. It’s a very simple plot element for the type of story
And also Red (The Real Adelaide) wearing a Thriller Shirt inside a Hands Across America foreshadows how her Tethered will reenact their own Hands Across America and yes the twist.
Bailey Reed movie was very obvious!
What if micheal Jackson used to be there leader?? Lol
After this movie: Me: Never going to Santa Cruz.
@Yılmaz Temiroğlu Yep there's a city and beach named Santa Cruz in California.
True I would be scared of going to Santa Cruz
Yeah dont, Santa Cruz sucks.
gacha stitch990 i live 20 mins from there a go there a lot it’s really fun it’s exactly how it looks but like not dark lol
A BETTER YOU: Moves To Canada
Thank you for this. Loved ur energy too!
this movie lost me in the "underground facility" part, just got me like.... what
I'm scared of horror movies and i have got to admit that this movie has scared and confused me at the same time.
But it's brilliant.
Government shit bruh
The real question being: they’ve been eating the rabbits down there but WHAT HAVE THE RABBITS BEEN EATING??!!??
Lucie Teixeira i think nothing. the original clone experiment was with the rabbits right, and the reason they used the rabbits initially was because they can reproduce fast. so their ability to reproduce quickly creates an abundance of rabbits and provides for the clones of that makes sense
Rabbits don't have enough nutrients to survive on. They're fine to eat with other food, but eating just rabbit would kill a person.
James Walsh but they're not actual humans tho
@@diam0nd_xx2 they are clones their essentially human in the movie it was even said so that they were the same
And *where* is the rabbit poop
With dance/fight scene I did notice that red was moving swiftly and elegant while evading Adelaide and how Adelaide was being sloppy and missing. I originally thought it was them showing how Adelaide was becoming more and more like the tethered but at the end it was because the switch. Brilliant
When she said I peaked at 14 maybe it was because the real one knew how to dance. The red was unable to dance hence she stopped dancing.
@@devyadav3273 this is a late comment but I just saw the movie and I can definitely see that. How the clone moved swiftly while “Adelaide” was stumbling. Now that we know who the real human Adelaide was, it makes more sense. She mentioned that the clones don’t have soul and that’s why they were abandoned. I know we can take it as a commentary on society but in the context of the clone story, it plays into why “Adelaide” stopped dancing at 14 . Things like dancing and creativeness needs a soul to bring it about, and since the clones have no soul supposedly then “Adelaide” couldn’t pursue it. Vs the real Adelaide who did have a soul moved swiftly and gracefully like a person who really loves a passion , it comes from the soul something that can’t be replicated. Anyways yeah lol
But she had to be younger than 14 when the switch happened. She only appeared to be about 10, tops.
HOLY SHIT SAME
@@josiethecrohnie6520Right! I caught that, too. So idk if that was a plot hole or what. Because I also got that her stopping dancing was because of the reveal that the real Adelaide was with the Tethered.
Great video guys, keep up the great work 👍
But if the clone project was abandoned a long time ago, how are there still clones of the kids?
The clones mated. Although they’re not ‘real’, they still have the same instincts as humans who live on the surface.
The ending is foreshadowed the whole movie by the girls Michael Jackson Thriller shirt. Remember in the thriller video at the end when Michael finally ends up taking the girl home but he turns around and smiles at the camera because he’s still the wolf monster 🤯 hahaha great work by Jordan Peele hats off to the guy👌🏽
Nuke Poop I have not thought about that.... very observant
Damn. I JUST thought that. Nice catch.
Wow! Good point! I didn't even think about that.
The song also foreshadows the ending. The song is actually yo gotti's i know which is a version of i got 5 on it and the lyrics to yo gotti's song tell the ending
@Verne's Final Moments im acting hard bc you snitching? 💀🤷🏾
Imagine being in a room filled with mirrors and you know your doppelganger is near
Owo run
I'd shave my beard or cut my hair with a piece of mirror just to be safe haha
I'd kick my doppelganger's ass
Blink Gone mannnn 😂😂omm ima go stupid
@@joshuat770 But they'll know the same moves you know.
I still can't figure out how Jason knew his mom was the doppelganger. It says he just knew and heard the conversation during the fight with his mom and red, but I couldn't figure out what red said that clarified it 😅 as the viewer we knew from the flashbacks, so how did he
i think its because, when she was killing the “doppelganger” (real adelaida) she started laughing
I saw this comment and decided to look into a possible explanation and what I came up with kind of makes sense. I think Jason had suspicions, maybe, throughout the film that Adelaide wasn’t his real mom. Adelaide is never shown directly fighting a Tethered, besides Red, because the Tethered only kill their real counterparts. In fact, Adelaide shows sympathy to both Umbrae and Pluto, Zora’s and Jason’s Tethered respectively, despite them attacking her family and knowing that’s not really them. My running theory is that the Tethered will not attack each other because they have the same goals. This would explain why Adelaide won’t fight any Tethered head on except for Red, because Red is her counterpart. It would also explain why Adelaide shows some sympathy for Umbrae and even tries to talk Pluto out of backing into the flames. Because she knows their plight and how they feel. It also explains why Red doesn’t want to really hurt Jason, or at least doesn’t hurt any of the other family members. Because she knows they are innocent. Maybe Jason noticed these things and picked up on them. Jason is shown to catch on faster then the rest of the family. He was the one to point out that the intruders were doppelgängers, he was the one to first notice the Tethered on the beach was the homeless man they saw dead, and he was the only one who noticed his Tethered mirrored his motions in the closet, and used it to get rid of Pluto. Jason has shown the ability to pick up on things in this situation before anyone else, so it’s safe to say he’s more observant of his family’s behavior and noticed Adelaide wasn’t acting right. During the final fight, Red pretty much exposes Adelaide in a number of ways. Besides outright saying it, she also exposes Adelaide to be more animalistic, letting her killer instinct take over in attempting to kill Red…a killer instinct only shown by the Tethered up to this point. Meanwhile Red, unlike the other Tethered, is more elegant and in control. She’s showing a level of control and planning that no other Tethered has shown before her. My theory is that Red told Jason after she kidnapped him, and used the fight with Adelaide to prove it, knowing Adelaide will revert back to her uncoordinated Tethered self. Red let’s Adelaide kill her, knowing it would truly expose her. That would explain why Red is completely in control of the fight up until they get to the barracks, where she hid Jason in a locker. In that locker, Jason heard them talking and witnessed Adelaide killing Red, ultimately making those weird Tethered grunts and noises, then laughing. Jason had suspicions, but the fight between Adelaide and Red proved those suspicions or at least sowed enough doubt in his mind to make him believe that Adelaide is a Tethered
@@odoplaydead5012 adelaide killed the twin when she resurfaced though! i like the theory other than that
He watched her kill one of the twins and her counterpart in a really aggressive way, similar to the tethered and she seemed to enjoy it
...so there're's 2 john wicks... i'd like to see how that would've gone down
Holy shit dudddeee!!! I thought the same thing....
Why does everyone call it a werewolf mask, it’s a Chewbacca mask
Romeo Garcia no because it doesn’t have the rights
Chewbacca is a werewolf, didn't you watch Starbattles as a kid?
It is a wolf man mask
It’s probably based on this wolf man, which looks very similar upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/4d/The-wolfman.jpg/220px-The-wolfman.jpg

Alondra Velazquez if you pay attention to the end when red took her son she knew exactly where she was. She wasn’t confused or anything and if she was the real one she would’ve been a little but she wasn’t because she was there before.
@@solebeatz8761 yeah but the " real one ( not red " had the same exact clothes and hair as the beginning . I think it has something to do with recognizing she's similar to her child cos both of them seem to know that theyre not the original . Just reread this I sound like a nutter buy idk *But

Amen, I love the lil sermon you preached towards the end of your review
Young Adelaide/Red was only missing for 15 minutes- corresponding with the 15 minutes that hands across America lasted
Along with the 15 minutes that the police were supposed to have taken to get there
Omg lmao
Chloe Kathleen Can y’all dislike my video?
@@beckithabecky7807 being honest, not i don't think it is being overrated just yet, the suspence was really well conceived and the soundtrack was great, if you think it's only getting reviews because black people, I think you're the one who feels offended
"What could go wrong in 15 minutes?"
It's not true that Jason is the only one showing signs of mirroring with his double. When Gabe pushes up his glasses, his double repeats the movement, even seeming kind of irritated, as if he can feel the glasses on his face even though they're not there. Maybe Jason just has a stronger connection to his double than the others (his sister does mention that Jason is easily distracted, maybe him being more focused on his double takes away from focusing on his enviroment).
Think Jason's fascination with magic gave him more of an ability to mirror his tether.
There’s a theory that Jason is actually a Tethered and Pluto is real
@@erikaxbituin That makes the most sense, otherwise why is she knowingly smiling at the kid the end of the movie? That does have a whole host of it's own questions, like if the double Adelaide had a real kid why would she want that kid switched out for a Tether? And if (as they say) he only got switched the vacation before then why does Pluto--being the real kid--suddenly have no speech ability and acts wild?
christmastiger well its kinda hard for him to talk in the first place seeing as how he burned part of his face(mostly around his mouth region) and it had scarred over. Its kind of hard to speak without a mouth.
Maybe it’s because Jason is half clone. His sister is too but maybe because he’s that he’s able to have that strong bond
ik i’m late, but i recently watched this film. i have to say, i usually hate scary movies, but this movie was more disturbing and sad than scary! this film was such a masterpiece, and it’s amazing how the cast can play two characters.
this is such an underrated plot twist
When your professor assigns you an essay to analyze a movie, but you summarize for 90% of it instead.
At the beginning of the movie there's text on the screen saying there's thousands of miles of tunnels under America that's how her double followed her when she left
Trenton Castillo that assumes every single abandoned tunnel is connected
@@deuce7986 why wouldn't they be? if the experiment had been going on for decades and across all of america, why would they seperate the tunnels?
deg1studios who’s to say those tunnels were there as a result of the experiment? Yeah it was going on for decades but many of those tunnels were there beforehand like in war to give messages and so forth. And even if they were to separate them they would cause they decided to abandon the project so they wouldn’t need to keep tunnels for the doubles to connect with themselves. Although, that would probably be more expensive so they probably left those tunnels as they were. But they could’ve just as easily connected those tunnels themselves
Trenton Castillo did you know that the boy got switched on another vacation and when he talks about doing a magic trick he never says that he failed doing so the real boy had no stuff to do the magic with except matches so he burns his face so many times he couldn’t speak
Trenton Castillo and the reason the real wife had a weird voice was because when she was little the tether held her throat and messed up some vocal cords and she never got treatment because she was underground
don't know how I missed this one. PHENOMINAL Director, Jordan Peele a masterful genius. 🙌
I just wanna say it's the first ending I understood right away and not with your vids! And that's cause if you, you made me paranoid, thanks!!
