S3&K also featured Blue Knuckles, though that required glitching the stage select screen to slot 04, or using cheats/mods. Not to mention Hyper Tails / Knuckles. Hyper Blue Knuckles is a bit cursed, as MissingNo flickies glitch around the screen.
With the fact that Super States can actually have stages now, I say go the DBZ route and make the forms 1 through 4, with four having the fur color of Werehog but form of super Sonic, and then for the final form… Hyper Sonic.
@@manoftruth0935I made a mod for Sonic 3 AIR that has Super Forms from 1 to 255 (0xFF) where the last one is the Hyper Form slot because how it was originally. I call this new "ability" the Omnitrix because it's one of the inspirations. Super/Hyper Cheats & Omnitrix
Getting the Hyper Forms within the Encore Mode is such a missed opportunity.

Yeah, but I don't think they even plan on adding the Super Emeralds or the Hyper Forms as an addition for Sonic Mania Plus. Sure, they were originally planned for the original Sonic Mania before the Plus DLC was announced, but then the Super Emeralds and the Hyper Forms was scrapped during its development. And remember, the reason why the Super Emeralds or the Hyper Forms hadn't been used ever again was because of the Next Tier Power-Up trope they wanted to avoid.

I know people have been hoping to see the Super Emeralds or the Hyper Forms to come back in the games in some way, but i just don't see it happening anytime soon. Cause remember they said the reason they never appeared in other games post S3&K is that they wanted to avoid the Next Tier Power-Up trope. Now, i understand what they're going with this reason, cause if they ever did then Super Sonic would lose its charm(otherwise be obsolete).
And let me explain why Powered Up and Cyber Super Sonic ended up in place of Hyper Sonic. Hyper Sonic is a full-fledged new form that Sonic can take on without turning into Super Sonic, as Super Emeralds are alternative sources of energy. But Powered-up and Cyber Super Sonic are an enhancement of the super form itself, for which Sonic must become Super Sonic, because cyber energy is an auxiliary energy.
That ALREADY happened. There has been no putting that geanie back in the bottle since 1994. We still want Hyper back. If they were to, it ought to be saved for Uber bosses.

Hyper sonic was legitimately a work around they had to do because since Sonic 3 was split into S3 and S&K. They wanted both to be playable on thier own, which meant each needed a set of emeralds. The problem came when they were combined. You now have 14 Choas Emeralds, but collectiong the first 7 would have made the 2nd set redundant. So they made the Super Emeralds. They won't bring it back because they don't want Sonic to become more and more like DB and multiple transformations. Both of these were talked about in an interview in the past.

The sad part is more levels from Sonic 3 were stated to make their return in Mania like Ice Cap and Launch base but those levels along with Hyper Sonic got rejected an didn't get into Mania because of SEGA. Talk about SEGA does what Nintendon't

Sonic Forces: Speed Battle NEEDS to add Hyper Sonic in the game as a challenger character. It would be so Awesome!!!
Well the main reason why we had Hyper Sonic was due to the two games. Both Sonic 3 as well as Sonic and Knuckles had their own set of seven Chaos Emeralds and lore wise, it wouldn't make sense to have 14 Chaos Emeralds. Their workaround? Once the games were connected, the S&K Emeralds would become the Super Emeralds which in turn allows Sonic (Knuckles and Tails too) to access new levels of power.

For those wanting an in-universe reason, it was said that the Super Emeralds were _too_ powerful and that, once Hyper Sonic/Knuckles/Tails (given Super Tails in Mania/etc is basically S3K Super Tails minus the Flickies, I’m calling the version with them Hyper) powered down, they basically broke and returned to just being Chaos Emeralds.

What I believe is look at the og chaos emeralds and the new chaos emeralds the new chaos emeralds look more like smaller super emeralds so I think the super emeralds have been shrunk (probably by tails or knuckles or by some cosmic entity more powerful than the super emeralds that we haven’t seen yet) down and sonic chose to look like super sonic because he liked the look of super sonic more than hyper sonic

Technically this is false, those of us that grew up with Sonic on the Genesis knows that with the Sonic and Knuckles cartridge it expanded Sonic 3 giving us the ability to acquire the Super Emeralds to become Hyper Sonic, so Sonic Mania was not the only game that form has been in. If we want to talk about actual forms that don't appear in any other games I think we need to look at Sonic and the Seven Rings with Darkspine Sonic. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that Sonic and the Black Knight also has a form not seen elsewhere with Excalibur Sonic. So just saying that Hyper Sonic has been in at least 1 other game fwiw.
