Nice result. If you don't mind my asking, what did you use to darken the metal?
Its a "cold blue" or "gun blueing solution" i think
yes, it was gun bluing liquid
The joy of restoration is the force that brings a sublime ecstasy to the finished result. There is a spiritual presence at work that manifests in the finished project. That is the mark of the tools of a master, regardless of the venue or arena. Keep it simple 👌
Sculpted a new useful tool from a neglected old tool. Excellent work!
Such a perfect beauty of a hammer. I would be proud to own that.
Y’all KZhead restoration guys would be valuable allies during an apocalypse.
So would 10,000 Rambos lol
One of the best restorations I've ever seen, I love it!
That turned out fantastic! From junk to jewel, great job!
Next vid - how to sharpen a hand saw ;)
I have to say Koss, I have never seen anyone with file skills like this. Excellent restoration

You should gift it to Steve at Bedo's Leatherworks. He's here on KZhead and is a master shoe repairman with many awards. He would truly appreciate such a beautifully restored hammer.

Very beautiful 👍
Hi bro 👋👋👋 very very good restoration hammer 🔨 👍👍👍🔥💣
Abraço aqui do Brasil 🇧🇷
So nice.
Beautiful work! I do leatherwork too, and would love to have such a hammer. I may have to look for one to refurbish.
Search eBay for 'cobblers hammer'; there are usually several on offer
Excelente trabalho! 👏👏👏👏
Good job.
WONDERFUL, I have no words, always super perfect and unique precise product, wonderful work and video, well done and good luck, respect from old BG. p.. It is a great pleasure for me to see that there are such precise people in the world, and that of the White race!!!
Lindo trabajo linda herramienta.
What was the Black staf that You put on the head part, thanks
I can't download the plans for the grinder. Is there any other way to get it?
Hi What is the name of the liquid that turns the color black?
My guess is that it’s just bluing salts. Commonly used on firearms. Look at Brownell’s.
FeCl3 Ferric Chloride
I bet it did not look nearly as good brand new from the factory. When you do these restores, do you use them, display them, or sell them, or all the above?
I would not use any hammer with nails to expand the head
did you build the belt grinder yourself `?
The finished hammer is beautiful. Did you make any effort to ascertain the maker? Perhaps it is a rare collectible. While the aligned nails are an attractive touch (most nails and drywall screws are placed haphazardly), it is doubtful that they offset enough material to secure the head to the handle. Over all, it is fabulous, Your skill and artistic creativity are amazing. Thumbs up.
What did you brush on the Head?
What is the name of the liquid that puts it to dissolve the rust?
Is it for a heel on like a pair cowboy boots?
great
Is it possibole to Make a knife of silver real silver
Cute little thing. I have one (less shiny) which has proven itself quite useful in working with leather
Now if you made a hammer, what would it look like, let's wait
Mui belo!
👍👍👍👍
I have to say you have done a beautiful job but still thank god so many people have written to tell you what you did wrong.
You made a beautiful tool, but why is that tool the way it is? I would love to know why a "cobblers hammer" is different from other hammers - why they are the way they are.
I have never come across an explanation. Inquiring minds want to know.
Then i won't use it again! It's too beauty
😎👍
if you would make a wedge of hardwood saw down the middle of your blade you will find that by driving the wedge of wood into the slot you cut sufficient enough to expand the wood on your handle to hold head on
🤝👍

The cheeks were meant to be rounded for strength. Not ground flat on the platen .The throat was weakened with the round file redesign. 😕
Sharp corners form stress point. Round corners spread the stress over the radius of the curve. Fortunately, this hammer will not be delivering heavy blows.

dude ever heard of rust remover liquid or sand blasting?
U could give it to Brian the bootmaker and make a collab
Watch it on 2x playback speed
Restored by GRINDING THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF IT!! Must weigh half as much now.
Fortunately, there is a purpose for the lighter hammer.
Mañana
I respect a man who chooses to use hand files over power tools. However I don't agree with using 3 nails on the handle, instead of the traditional wooden wedge technique with a small steel wedge. A round nail does not have enough taper on it to expand the wood handle! ...Newk from Kentucky
i agree, also they feel odd here, cut nails would have been a nice touch if you chose to omit the slice/wedge option
Form, not function, was the objective.
Cobbler cobbler mend my shoe Get it done by half past two Do it neat and do it strong I will pay you when it's done

Nice joke-really made me laugh
PREVENTING INHALATION OF WOOD DUST WITH A MASK IS VERY APPRECIABLE , BUT WHY NO PROTECTIVE GLOVES FOR HANDS ?? YOU SHOULD ALSO ROUND THE TIP AT THE EDGES AS WELL .. ON THE OTHER HAND WORK WAS PRECISE , CONGRATS ...
your safety concerns are also appreciable, but why the FULL CAPS? IT'S LIKE YOU'RE SCREAMING.
i wouldn't wear gloves on a belt grinder. rather rip your finger open while not wearing gloves than have your entire hand ripped off because your gloves get sucked down the belt grinder.
@@guillotineschnapp3862 , HAVEN'T TAKEN THIS OPTION (!) INTO CONSIDERATION .. MACHINERY ARE NOT TOYS !!!
Did you just use tack nails? WTF. Well thats fubared now.
Putting nails in did absolutely nothing. In fact it's kind of a joke for people that restore axes, they find nails, screws, washers, tons of crap people jam in the top to yry keeping the head tight, just makes it a pain in the ass to drill out the old wedge.
Oink 🦑
Push sticks are cheap!! Surgeries to to fix or remove fingers and thumbs are not
Focus to your hand Saw..🙄🙄
