  • Now to go find a wine barrel, and see what other things I could do with it. You touch on my two primary interests; flying and woodworking! What fun. Introduce your helper next time.

  • This incredible rendition completely eliminates all my terminal complaints about Adirondack chairs. That is, that they are so oddly and irritatingly angular. The insightful use of the wine barrel staves give the chair the much needed concavity and curvature that the chair has always lacked and quietly demanded. This is essential, ergonomic, and elegant. Well done!

    • I wonder how an Adirondack adapted to rocking chair would work out. Only half serious, but perhaps taking a bit of liberty with the Adirondack design?

    • You know, you are right, another long stave with it's curved side down would make it a great rocker.

  • Absolutely great, truly! My goodness, if you would lived 70 or 80 years ago, building these chairs, you would be as famous as Mies Van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd, or Charles Eames, just to name a few. You definitely build a chair of the level of the Bauhaus. Congratulations. I’ll be on the look out for those kinds of barrels and I’m sure they are not cheap. Cheers!

  • Thanks for the video, well done, love the details. With the arms being the widest staves what would be an acceptable minimum width? I only ask because the current barrels I have the only widest matching staves are just 4" wide. Would that be too narrow?

    • Wine areas, Whiskey areas all have old barrels. They are only good for a few years They sell them off as planters and to craft people for $50 or so when they have finished with them. Look online.
