    • That's some impressive miles! And if you NEED to drive a truck everywhere that's great, but the thing that gets me is the cost of gas over that period. At $2.50 gas and 15 mpg, you're looking at $80k! If you got 30 mpg you'd have saved 40k!? That's why I say get an old truck for hauling and leave it parked, and drive a car. Unless your ego depends on driving a truck ;) Edit: or if you just like paying extra to drive a truck that's fine too, just make sure you don't end up broke with no retirement because of it!

I've got the engine in and it purrs like a kitten! • I bought a used 2020 XLT with the naturally aspirated 3.3. Had 19k miles on it. I've put about 900 miles on it and it's making a weird noise at idle sometimes. It's not a metal to metal sound and it sounds like it's coming from the intake. With a stethoscope I can hear it through the passenger side head. It's a low tone thumping sound, gets quieter when warm and goes away when revved. Can hear it in cab sometimes. Engine has good oil pressure and no overheating. Averaging 22 to 23 mpg. Plenty of power. Smooth running. With mechanics stethoscope it is more noticeable in the cat's and the intake. Barely hear it through the oil pan or bottom end. Any ideas? I really like this truck. I have not had it long but it feels solid and runs out great. Noises haven't changed for the short time I've had it. Its been on 5 150 mile trips with no problems. I even got 25 mpg driving 60 to 65 mph. I like this truck so much that if it was a major problem that required the engine to be replaced I would do it and keep it. Any ideas about the noise? Thanks for your time. PS the previous owner changed oil every 9k miles with a valvoline oil filter. I immediately changed it with Mobile 1 full synthetic and a motorcraft oil filter. I will change oil every 3k.
