  • The fact that the "odd instruments" aren't just sampled and then pitch-shifted and filtered through a bunch of FX adds so much more to this video, the limitation of their sounds is exactly what's interesting to see and hear, how it will be creatively used to counter these limitations. Too many "making a whole song out of a salt shaker" is just basically more about synthethizing than anything else.

    • I've always loved using Found Sounds. ex: my bathroom faucet had a loose washer in it, so it would SQUEAK / SQUONK / SHUDDER when you cranked the water up. I used it ala Free-Jazz saxophone! Or I did a duet for SQUEAKY DOOR HINGE, and Moog synth (where I made the synth mimic the sounds of the squeaky hinge!) Too bad the Blue Klux Klan has falsely arrested me 47 times and destroyed or stolen most of my musical gear and instruments, my HDrives, and 99% of my archives, cuz kkkops can do anything they want and the press and ACLU will cover for them. (I've been jailed by Amerikkkan police for such IMAGINARY charges as "ATTEMPTED harassment of city hall" and "ATTEMPTED contempt of court"!

    • @@catarinabarbosa2247 I had to confirm the year, I just knew it was really early 90s. Rocky Mountain was a little local company back then, this bike was hand made in the Greater Vancouver area. It was rare and cool then, now it's super rare and super cool. I was a very avid mountain biker back then, I aspired to own a Rocky Mountain, and I was able to purchase a Rocky Mountain Oxygen a few years later when I was 16.

  • Watching Rob try to play an accordion was adorable. It's typically played seated, so you can support both sides with your knees.

    • Hate to be that "well actually" guy but you actually only support one side of the accordion. Normally you’re sitting slightly turned to your left and support the bigger side with the keys (or some people prefer to support it more under the bellow) and the bass side is completely free to move and only hold by your left hand. Or you could play standing up like Rob no problem, he should just have put on the other strap over the other shoulder and it would perfectly stay up even without holding it with your hands.

    • @@reav3rtm I don't know if the song structures themselves were improved, but it meant that they could 100% finish every song instead of having not great improvised lyrics on a few tracks. Also just being able to focus on one thing at a time meant that all the songs had really specific and solid identities and felt much more complete

My favourite is probably the second one, that just blew my mind. Also if Ayla and Rob made an actual instrumental jam together that would be a dream come true.
