This match reminds me of 2019 Bianca. The complete game with great variety, and her movement although it was good before. It looks amazing right now. She was so close to getting a lot of the winners Collins hit. A terrific match for Bianca which I think she needed to boost up her confidence!!!

Bianca was so pumped for this match. It'd be great to see her start to put together more dominant performances like this to avoid those grueling 3 set matches, especially in the earlier rounds of tournaments.
Madrid Open is the tournament of surprises but also of the comebacks! Firstly almost all top 10 who are playing in the tournament were out in 1st or 2nd round (only Sakkari and Jabeur are still in the game) and secondly athletes like Halep and Andreescu are coming back to their bests - Halep with the win to Badosa and Andreescu to Collins. And that's amazing!

Andreescu has a complete game. Makes one wonder where she could have been if she had been injury free. Still so young. Hope she stays healthy. We need to see her more in 2022 and beyond.

@@lilnickydabaddest3451 She was a former top 5, in fact #4 at one time. The only person capable of challenging her at that time was Osaka. Let’s hope she stays healthy, hungry, and motivated for more success.
@@robhchin I think her Osaka and Swiatek have talent to rule tennis for the next few years. However it hasn’t been that smooth for Bibi or Osaka but one thing is for sure when their healthy they will give us entertainment

You can tell a sour grape loser when you see one. Collins just like Kostyuk and Muguruza just to name a few are sore losers and they show it when they go shaking hands with the winning opponent. Bianca on the other hand always has a smile and congratulates the winner. That to me is sportsmanship.
So happy to see Bianca's winning form again, one of my favorites in WTA. Way-to-go! Praying for your continued success 🙌

Without these bad injuries.... it's just so unfortunate. In that regard even more impressive, how she kept working to be a top 10 level player again. Would be great to have an era with Swiatek, Raducanu, Badosa, Osaka AND Andreescu moving forward.

I can only imagine that the editor of this video is a follower of Collins. Don't get me wrong, I like Collin's game a lot, and I follow her, but this video does not reflect the match at all. Bianca was the dominant player and the video mostly shows points won by collins, come on, less bias and more balance in your work as editor of matches highlights. Is not the first time I see this type of highlight, and with all due respect, this happens mostly when USA players are playing. Go Bianca Go!
The match stats show: Bianca won 64 points, Collins won 41 points out of 105. BUT the WTA editors show Collins as winner. Their video emphasizes that Collins won 13 points, Bianca 11
I perfectly agree with you, the only reasons that I have is that the winners of Daniele were much better than Andreescu winners…

I really don’t understand. Bianca won 6-1 6-1, but if you look at this, whoever made this selection, all the points are won by Collins. Between 2-1 and 6-1 they don’t show any ball exchange. It doesn’t make any sense.
Collins NEEDS, NEEDS to develop a good drop shot on clay. She won't always blow away opponents from the baseline. She needs to slip in the drop shot a few times while opponents are expecting a big hit
Maybe this is also the reason why Osaka doesn’t play good in clay.
I thought Collins used to do a nice two handed drop shot when she first came into the scene. But I agree she needs to use it more or bring it back. I think she’ll do great on grass or hardcourt. Also because of her medical issues maybe she needs to keep the points short?
Collins also needs to work on her footwork.

I have thought since Bianca won the US Open, she was one of three genuinely special women players to emerge in the last 10 years. Alongside her, I would add Osaka and Swiatek. It would be interesting to read if others agree.

The most interesting female player to emerge in the past ten years was Barty. She had everything, and she made it look so easy when she was “on”. It’s a shame that she retired.

Picked Bianca but didn’t expect demolition
This is the first time I see Bianca playing with no bandages on her legs. I hopa she stays free of injuries in future and wins more Slams.

Congratulations to Bianca, but I'm not jumping on the 'Bianca is back' bandwagon just yet. It was clear that Collins wasn't physically or mentally into this match and didn't put up that much of fight. Collins wasn't her usual feisty self and looked like she didn't even want to be there. Let's see how Bianca performs against someone who's physically and mentally in top form and puts up a real fight before we start making proclamations about her grand comeback.
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one noticing that it just seemed she didn’t want too be there and just played okay tennis. I’m a big bibi fan but your right the next match on Tuesday will see.
This is classic Andreescu. She’s a chess player....she outplayed Collins.

The part about Collins I don't get is it looks like she put some effort in and if it works with that effort then fine, but as soon as there is one more shot back, she couldn't be bothered making the effort to get too those balls..

Andreescu chases too many balls. He body & injury history unfortunately don't go with that kind of game.

What a performance by Bianca Vanessa Andreescu. She played extremely well against current world #8. She in both sets served amazing bread sticks. Bianca Vanessa Andreescu was unstoppable in this match. She played so good, that Danielle Rose Collins wasn't able to find a way to even compete with her. I hope, that she can keep on this form for the rest of the tournament. And big congratulations to Bianca Vanessa Andreescu on winning this match. She truly deserves this win. She didn't leave to Danielle Rose Collins any chance to win even one set.
So happy for Bianca! By the way, did she change her gameplay? I haven't seen her using her lethal dropshots very much lately

What happens with Miss Karen Collins?
I’ve definitely seen Collins at a much higher level. She seems to be very hesitant with her back injury she sustained. She wasn’t fluid and and moved robotically. Hope she is able to get more confidence in her back. She clearly doesn’t want to reinjure it.
So why did she make the AO final? That was even in January. This is three months later…

I watched this in full and this highlight package is just super weird and not reflective of how the match went. Either the editor doesn't like Bianca or they are ignorant.

The WTA has so many former top 10 players that it's kinda ridiculous. I feel like damn near everyone made it to the top 10 at some point then fell off. It used to actually be a prestigious group to be able to make the top 10 and stay there. Now it's just a revolving door. Same with slam champions.
Well, its hard for the truly talented ones to stay in the top 10 when they are stepping away for large chunks of time either from burnout or injuries or in some cases BOTH. These are different times now where players are taking the time to look out for themselves and rightfully so. Because you do risk them retiring altogether and what a waste and a blow to the Tour that is. Hearing that Bianca was contemplating RETIREMENT is some SCARY STUFF.
Fingers crossed very tightly hoping Bianca stays healthy.

Like other responders, I expected a closer match. One thing I did notice that Collins came out in Australia wearing Adidas clothing & shoes after wearing New Balance for a few years. Now, she has Nike! So much for clothing contracts.

Collins is a tough consistent top 10; but "Vow" Andreescu is back!
If you mean consistently getting spanked by her opponents tennis racket in the second round of every recent tournament then yeah she's consistent. I think certain players scare her and she feels like she can't win. So she doesn't try and allows her opponent to win.

Sometimes people smile and handshake, but their eyes are looking down while they do it - Muguruza is a good example of this, she doesn't actually give eye contact during the handshake, but seems to just beforehand instead. Maybe that's what happened with Danielle? But it seems a bit snide from Andreescu as her opponent did say "too good" etc... if she isn't giving eye contact after a loss, but did say good job... maybe just let it lie... (assuming she did call her out).

On any given day yes on clay probably not now. Long term Iga might just stay at the top bc she doesn’t have physical limitations. Nobody is unbeatable tho 😉 would love to see them play
