24 HOURS of Bird Migration on my Wildlife Homestead!
Bird migration is the busiest, and most exciting time of the year for birders. I spent 24 hours on my wildlife homestead trying to see as many species as I could!
I'll be donating a portion of the AdSense earned this month to the Canadian Red Cross to help fight the wildfires spreading through Quebec:

Thanks so much for all of you checking in to see how we're doing with all the wildfires in Quebec right now. We're all good here, and have been largely unaffected by the fires, luckily. Hope you're all safe and enjoying the season! PS. For those of you who were asking about the full bird species list from the property since moving in, it's in the description of the video🐦 We're so close to 100 total species!
Hope your doing well, from Australia know how it feels! Great video.
@@ChazzyLive ❤️
Can you please share with me which choice of binoculars you use?
@@HisGraceHisGlory I'm using the Nikon Monarch 5 (8x42). Not my favorite, they haven't held up well to field use. I've heard some similar reviews from other people I work with. It seems to be pretty hit or miss in terms of quality. The eye cups and logos on mine started peeling off after a week of use.
Where do you post the photos you take, I miss seeing them in the videos.
I think it is so unbelievably impressive that people like you recognize all these birds just by hearing their songs... :o
Thanks! Took a lot of practice, I really don't have a musical ear so I struggled the first few years haha
+
Just takes some practice! Some birds have super distinct calls too 😊
Thank you
*xeno canto intensifies*
Birdwatching is so underrated. So happy to have found this channel!
Agreed!
I love how the ruffled grouse actually acted like a drummer, slow start and slowly bulit up to a fast wing flap. Each flap stretching in a different direction.
Very cool to see! Gotta pull out all the stops to impress a mate!
@@StefanoIaniro indeed, just fascinating to watch.
Oh, so when a bird drums at a girl and it's cool, but when I do it, it's "what are you doing?" and "get away from me. "
@@thewolface2339sounds like a helicopter starting up
@@monthegers5573 kinda yeah.
I love how wholesome these videos are :-)
Thank you!
I love all of your videos so much, they're a highlight of my day whenever there's a new one! Thank you for the time and effort put into making them. They're wonderful and soothing and educational and I am incredibly grateful to be able to watch them 💚
So glad you enjoy them, thanks for watching!
i live in a pretty large city, and always assumed that birding or wildlife watching here would be basically impossible. but since watching your videos, i've started paying attention when i'm looking out the window or going for walks. i've seen blue jays, cardinals, robins, mallards, pigeons (obviously), various sparrows (i'm not experienced enough yet to tell the difference between the little guys lol), and once a red tailed hawk going to town on a squirrel! plus alive squirrels, chipmunks, mice, stray cats, some rabbits in people's yards (!!), a raccoon, and obviously plenty of rats :p i always thought you had to live out in the middle of nowhere to watch wildlife, and obviously the species here aren't particularly rare, but it's amazing to watch how many species manage to live and thrive in our cities. i never would have started paying attention if i hadn't been inspired by your videos, so thank you!!
Many great sightings! There's a ton of species that have adapted to living in cities, so I'm sure you'll get many more! If you start observing insects too, you'll be shocked at how many species you have in your area.
Awesome! There is so much wildlife in the city now. They really adapt and sometimes even find better conditions here than in the open landscape. Monoculture in farming and loss of shrubs and trees sadly lead to this. I live in Berlin and to see foxes, boar, geese, raccoons (invasive species here) and birds of prey is not rare. A kestrel roosts on the roof of our apartment building! And Berlin is the capital of nightingales and skylarks :)
Best 18 minutes I'll spend on YT today!
So glad you enjoyed it!
Damn, you guys have some biodiversity in Quebec. I’m from northern Spain and I own a little land with a patch of forest in a mountainous area and I’ve counted up to 47 bird species (seen only from the land and including flying birds passing by). I thought that was pretty good but now I see I have to catch up, lol. I’m sure you’ll make it to a hundred soon!
That's definitely one benefit to having our long winters here, once the spring rolls around there's an explosion of life!
You should definitely visit Panama, you'll be able to see way more than 47 species in just a single day. There's bird photography dedicated places the size of a regular US house with almost 350 registered species in that area
That’s really cool! I love birdwatching and I’m visiting Salamanca this summer. I’m hoping to see some cool sights, like white storks or European robins. My friend says Europe isn’t very bio diverse in birds, though, so I hope I get lucky
@@limpkin212 Robins are very easy to find in any city park or garden. You’ll find black birds and great tits there easily too. Storks are also very common, they nest everywhere and usually next to the road or in churches or electric towers. Spain in particular is quite biodiverse in terms of birds compared to the rest of Europe, since it’s so close to Africa there are many migratory birds that pass by or stop here. We have up to 600+ bird species, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Edit: if you are going to visit Salamanca, there’s a National Park called “Monfragüe” that’s one hour and a half away by car. You can find black vultures, griffon vultures, black storks, Egyptian vultures, Iberian imperial eagles, short-toed snake eagles… most of them are relatively easy to find there, it’s really worth it.
We need more people like you
So kind of you, thank you!
I love your films. Beautiful work you're doing, capturing footage of these wild creatures. 😍
Thanks so much!!
Love your videos! Your camera work and narration is absolutely amazing.
Very kind, thank you!
And your knowledge of the various species is amazing!
@@StefanoIaniro And your combination of kindness and practicality. Thank you for more photos of the cat you rescued. It's good to see how happy she is with you.
Hey Stefano I just wanted to say that I really appreciate what you're doing. I think you're living my dream right now so I'm really glad you're sharing it with us
Thanks so much, Ben! Glad I'm able to share the excitement!
your videos are so nice and calming i love them so much
So glad you enjoy the videos, thanks for watching!
im not sure anyone has mentioned this, but im personally really grateful for the subtitles because its hard for me to keep track of anything in most videos without subtitles. thank you to whoever does them. also, great video. i can barely even name the species by their looks and youre recognising them by calls.
So glad the subtitles are helpful! The auto-generated ones from KZhead can be kind of annoying to read, so I usually take an hour to go through and fix them before publishing the videos.
Every time I log into KZhead I check which of my subscriptions have uploaded and I'm always happiest when it's you 😊
That's so kind of you, thank you!
So appreciate having the audio of their song with the visual of each bird, and their names. If you could see the smile on my face while I follow you virtually. Thank you for letting us tag along, Stefano.
Happy to hear you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching!

Amazing to see variety of birds in your property thanks for bringing them to me
Happy to hear you enjoyed it!
My grandmother passed a few months ago and one things I remember most about her was the clock she had in the kitchen. Every hour had a different bird song that played and the only one I can remember was noon. When I watched your year in review video, I heard that birdsong and my heart stopped. I came to this video to see what that birds name was and funny enough you also used it as the first birdsong in the video. I will now never forget the white throated sparrow, so thank you
Absolutely loved those songs :) Thank you for bringing them to us. And showing chickadee seeds on that rock was priceless :)
Haha glad you liked the video!
I can't even describe how much joy your videos bring me. Best wishes from the UK
So happy to hear, thank you for watching! 🙂
I'm not new to birding by any means but I still struggle with warbler calls because I don't get to see/hear them often. I have CDs I study from but there is something about watching the bird sing that I found really helpful. Thank you for that!
Yeah, I struggled to learn them initially based off of recordings. It does help quite a bit to see/hear them in the field. Another thing that recordings don't have is cues for habitat. Once you know the habitat, it helps narrow down the warbler species.
What a patch you have! I really enjoyed this video. Kudos for maintaining great habitat for these sweet critters
Thanks so much!
As usual, this video is an absolute pleasure. I love earing birds sings as I waking up, but this, is an other level, it's an whole little universe. Can't wait the future videos around and in the ponds... Much love from France
So glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
You make my day! Glad to hear you are not being negatively impacted by the fires.
Happy to hear!
That chickadee is such a good buddy 🥹
You are a very lucky man, with happily, the wisdom to appreciate what you have there.
Seems like a bicycle would be the preferred vehicle for rolling your little forest roads for wild life. Silent, nimble, quick. Keep these great videos coming, love em!
I've been watching your channel for a while and I just have to say you've improved so much, your camera work and narration is absolutely phnomenal, and you're also ridiculously underrated but I have a feeling you're going to top the charts one day. Beautiful work Stefano this video was incredibly well done regardless of if you hit your goal or not.
Thanks so much, Malcolm! Very nice to hear
Not naming that groundhog "Chuck" would be a crime
Loved this video! The almost spherical winter wren stole my heart!
One of my favorites, as well!
WOW! Moose! I love how much information and observation you provide in theses videos!

The footage in this video is absolutely increadible to me. The framing, colors and shown behaviour are beyond amazing and I always love how much this inspires me to go out myself! Awesome man, you are the BirdFather 😂 your brain is like a computer. Keeo up the great work. Truly blessed
Jackpot video! I am so glad I found your channel. This kind of video and footage inspires me to consider carrying a telephoto lens on my backpacking trips so I can include better bird images in my backpacking videos (New Hampshire). Seeing your great footage and hearing the sounds is so enjoyable because we share similar species coming through. It's very nice how you make this video with the clear imagery, wonderful songs, and the name of the birds. Great work.
I love the peepers....this video is simply breathtaking. You honestly live in Heaven on Earth! Perfection~
Thanks so much!
I love all your work. I keep tabs every month for a new video. Love from India❤
Man, I love birds! They're incredibly cute, and when they sing, they just look absolutely hilarious.
Haha, they put so much effort into singing as loud as they can
That was amazing🥺
Thanks so much!

I absolutely love watching your videos!!!!!!❤
Have you ever considered putting an overlay with the spectrograms of the songs/calls on the screen when you play them and show the species? I find them so amazing to watch hearing the sound.
Very interesting idea! Thank you

Thank you for another wonderful and peaceful video. I absolutely love your beautiful wildlife property, it looks so peaceful. You are so blessed to have seeing that many birds on the property, love the warblers. The Red Bellied Woodpecker is my favorite woodpecker, I get them almost every day on my bird cam. The Ground Hog was so cute just sprawled out on your deck. Looking forward to your next video.
Very lucky to have red-bellied woodpeckers so often! Wherever I've lived they've always been a random sighting now and again.
Such an awesome video. Thank-you!!
What a find that moose pond is! Can't wait to see what you do there
