If you're in a headlock position, the first thing you must do is tuck in your head. By doing this, if you receive any blows from your attacker they will be somewhat less painful on your head than your facial area. Your frontal bone is quite strong and rigid, it's actually possible to break your knuckles if you ever punch someone there.
While tucking in your head, you must trap your attacker's elbow to his body to stop his punches from coming at you, and then with your other hand, try to aim for his face since it's quite sensitive and can make him lose some of his focus.
You can also neck crank by aiming towards the face. If you crank your attacker's neck upwards, you can afterwards use the back leg to bring yourself up from the headlock. Once you've done that, you can disrupt the balance by aiming in the groin area, or even aiming towards the throat.
Make every hit count!

  • I love you self defense videos. I have also been in that situation. And believe it or not. I found a great way of making them release involuntary by simply pinching the back of the leg or lower back extremely hard. Depending on whether they are leaning over or stood upright. If their stood up then pinch the lower back where its likey to expose softy fatty area which is easier to grab. Or if they are leaning with you , then pinch the back upper leg. They release extremely quickly as the pain is hard and fast. The only reaction is to release . Trust me it works

  • Good information. Also, if you are in this situation, with a free leg, push the back of the attackers knee with your foot causing them to go down to one knee. Once they drop down to one knee, they are significantly off balance, and it is easier to escape. I also like the idea of the groin punch mentioned below. Tremendous videos though, I do enjoy them, whereas it is a crazy world we live in now days.

  • Great video. Thanks for uploading. I'm assuming that the attacker would get at least one punch into the defenders face, as shown, before the defender trapped the attackers punching hand/forearm. I would prefer to slip out of the headlock earlier(like you described when you were in town with your friend) to avoid any punches to my face. Maybe there is an easy to get to pressure point somewhere on the attackers choking hand or arm that would get a release while squirming your head out of his headlock?

I like what you said you did when you're friend surprised you and tried to get you in a headlock--tucked in your head and you slipped right out of it is ideal.

  • I really appreciate it anytime an instructor takes into account the unrealistic nature of most self defense hand strikes....ie what the ER doctors routinely call " the Boxers fracture". Even if you are a pro boxer...actually especially if you are a pro...there's a really excellent chance you will break your hand in a streetlight. This, along with knife defense are the two greatest obstacles in real street training....there's no real way to hit hard without breaking your hand and there's no real way to defend a knife unarmed without getting stabbed at least once or twice which could be devastating both to your health and finances. Some people condition their hands...which helps but is self defeating as no amount of damage you will probably incur in a street beat down will ultimately ruin your life as much as arthritis in old age that comes from pounding karate hand conditioning mats/boards.

    @seattleflyboard3807@seattleflyboard3807 Жыл бұрын
  • Trapping the hitting arm is fine, but you would do better in wrapping your left hand inside the hitting arm and force it and hold it behind the attacker's back which provides you with a hug opening for a gut shot or groin shot.

  • The headlock guy kept putting his leg infront of the guy he was attacking leaving him open for the sweep. You'd never do that, the attacker would keep his closest leg behind the victim so he wasnt open to being thrown to the ground

    @zedooncadhz@zedooncadhz8 жыл бұрын
    • ***** I'm saying get his head down in the same position in the same hold, not a choke hold but the same as here. Then I would spread my legs and use my weight to keep his head pulled down in my lock, focusing on keeping my balance with a low centre of gravity and a wide stance makes it much harder for him to topple me over which is why most headlock fights you see end up on the ground with either of you on top. At no point would I put my closest leg in front of him though, he can just push that leg forward and fall backwards and he will get you down and be able to land on top of you.

I would trap punching hand, punch in balls, trip, then decide whether to be kind or hospitalize the ENEMY when I mount him.

His face and eyes got red he was sort of coughing people came and tried to free him so I had to let go ...

    • Great question. But, it depends because if some other people like his friends or something are coming you'll have to release it. It also depends of the situation. Is this a life threatening situation and you need to survive? There are many factors that come into play when it comes to self defense. Your instinct will tell you what to do in that case. But indeed, when releasing the grip, you'll have to extremely cautious of your opponent coming back at you. Hope this helps. Stay safe.

  • Today is a really sad day but I’m happy finding your youtube, my 14year old brother was head locked by my 19year old brother and he gave him a black swollen eye and over a silly argument, i dislike my 19yr old brother as he gets aggressive and starts punching, what’s worse he even trains in gym with MMA fighters it breaks my heart to see my smaller brother get hit, as am a girl and can’t do anything about it always get hit back as well.. love your videos 🙏🏻 never knew after so long I can use your techniques to help get rid off the bully brother of mine own blood.

  • This is what I like cause it most videos you will see the guy doing a move on the attacker but in a street fight the move probably won't work cause your opponent is not just going to stand and let you do a move to him he will be fighting back

  • Good advice. I will add it to my self-defense recipe. 'Course I always just put my finger just below his earlobe where the jaws and bottom of the ear meet and push like hell. Go ahead. Try it on yourself but push gradually if you do. At a certain pressure IT HURTS! Nobody can stand that. Or you could dig two fingers into his eyes with your palm on top of his head and pull back like you are opening a box. Either way, he will move his head and where his head goes, he goes. He will let go. Then you pull your roofing knife or blackjack out of your back pocket and decide if he lives or dies.

  • My brother had me on the ground in a headlock and sat on my arms so I couldn't move, and then started choking me. After almost 2 minutes of not being able to breathe, I managed to free my arm and started punching him in the head. It was enough to get him to let go of me and I managed to escape. But he almost killed me, and he probably would if he could get away with it.

  • Everytime i've been put in a headlock i've just picked them up and slammed them as hard as i could, i've two bouncers do the same thing too.

    • +LegoPig If you are 340lbs, you're most likely just fat. Unless you are a world champ strongman vs a 140lbs guy, you aren't going to snap their neck from a basic headlock, most likely you will squeeze until you tire and they wiggle free. A basic headlock is only useful if you are trying to take them down (although inefficient). I used to lift weights 5 days a week before i knew how to fight, i tried out-strengthening someone much smaller than me with a headlock in a fight and all that happened was i tired, they wiggled free, and i had just wasted a shit load of energy. The same happens all the times when i fight much stronger guys and they get me in a headlock, if they are too heavy for me to slam, they'll only get a lactic acid build up and tire within 15-20 seconds anyway. Tl;dr basic street headlocks don't do shit, learn proper chokes that are capable of knocking a guy unconscious within seconds and are virtually impossible to wiggle out out.

    • Kerry i hope you sre just trolling

      @dangerous1portal@dangerous1portal8 жыл бұрын
    • Kerry, to give you a perspective of how heavy 340lbs is, the weight limit for a heavyweight UFC fighter is 265lbs. Go search alistair overeem or brock lesnar on google images, they are genetic freaks who also take steroids, look how fucking huge they are. Now imagine someone weighing 75lbs heavier than them, they'd either have to be morbidly obese waiting at deaths door, or have a serious hormonal disorder that effects their growth. Don't come here with that "muscle weighs more than fat" bullshit, i'm a trained personal trainer and half my friends are on steroids. I know more about this shit than you will ever.

  • Yeah I wouldn't go to the ground if im in a choke hold. It's best to finish it standing up. You will end up at an equal advantage on the ground with both you and the attacker laying on their backs.

  • Before you block the punches you have to be able to breathe first.This type of headlock is harder to defend against than if youur attacker does a headlock while directly in front of you,facing the opposite diretion as you. sensei manny
