She played her role so well! As an autistic person who is born female, I really appreciated how she portrayed someone like me with so much kindness and empathy! I have rewatched this show 3 times already, because I and other people like me feel genuinely understood and appreciated through this show ❤
Having raised kids on the spectrum I was hesitant to watch this show. I didn’t want to be emotionally triggered. The last thing I wanted to see is another drama with superficial and stereotypical portrayal of individuals with special needs. Fast forward, I am glad I took the time to watch it. She did a great job educating the public about the daily challenges of individuals on the spectrum. Park Eun-bin portrayed Yong-Woo with integrity and utmost respect. I wish her the best!❤

As a female with asd aswell it's hard to find other people who are aware and know the difficulty and how frustrating it can be sometimes and the way she has brought such kindness and brought new awareness to asd makes me smile and I can't wait to watch the show now

What I liked about her is that she turned down the role first because she found it hard to portray. Just shows her respect towards representation in the autism community. But she also did a phenomenal job that enabled awareness to viewers about the nuances we had yet to be aware about autism.
That whole show navigated a PC minefield. 1. If they make it seem like autism is a superpower, KABOOM. 2. If they laugh at the autistic person, KABOOM. 3. If the actress seriously misrepresents autism, KABOOM. The show was a huge risk, and it was executed brilliantly. Everybody involved with the show deserves a medal.
@331SVTCobra I mean..they did make her autism seem a bit like a superpower. She was literally the ONLY attorney on the team doing anything at all lol. Every good idea was hers and she had that photographic memory as well. I'm not necessarily begrudging the show, I really enjoyed it, but I did get a little frustrated with how many times they had Woo come up with an absolutly earth shaking idea on the spot. I also felt some of her tics and things were over the top BUT I'm sure there are actual people our there with tics and behavior like hers so maybe its not as over the top as I thought initially as a layperson. I am not autistic and I don't know any adult autistic individuals personally. I see in the comments here that a lot of autistic people really loved her portrayal so that has changed my opinions of the show a good bit.
@@Shmaples "Savant" is a popular concept most people understand even if they don't actually know anything about autism spectrum disorder. History (and present) is littered with examples, and they do point out young-woo's exceeding capability, and how it contrasts with more common, more severe cases.
I agree this felt closest to the best representation of autism for me atleast not like ",The Good Doctor" where they treat being autistic as some kind of super hero or super power. When in reality it's just about you as an individual work different from others. Your brain just works different. And there is nothing wrong with that. I think we are all unique and good in our own way. And I feel like this show represented that really well. @@331SVTCobra
The "savant" aspect of Young-Woo's character was a little cliché, but Park Eun-Bin did an amazing job of portraying the struggles the character faces when it comes to social interaction, fixated interests, sameness, ableism from others, and all the other daily challenges adults with autism face.
She surely deserved this award and more. Her acting skills are off the charts!

For someone who loathes himself so much, the quote from the drama that she mentioned "My life is eccentric and weird, but its meaningful and valuable" really touched me and it made me feel like, maybe my life isn't that awful. ❤
Your life may be eccentric and weird even awful sometimes but it's meaningful and definitely valuable. You, my grandson and the others have us who love you all unconditionally❤❤❤
I don't know what your circumstances in life are but think about this the following way - millions of cells in your body regenerate daily, nothing stays static in the world, even if we think it does. Whatever you are going through right now, it will change at some point because nothing is forever. And while an individual doesn't always have control over external circumstances, you should always remember that the one thing you have control over is how you choose to see, how you choose to react to the world around you. No one can make you feel small or meaningless unless you allow it. Really look at yourself and find the extraordinary in you, you'll find that you are more than enough.
Some advice to a self loather. Start giving. You will find purpose in life through self service. Serve your community, volunteer with kids and animals and elders, it's going to be very hard to hate yourself when you can literally see the impact you're putting into the world.
@Nonyah123 I wish I can say the same to my grandson. Sadly, some people with autism finds it very hard to interact with others. Or to live in the same house where there's several others in it.
hewhomustnotbenamed2864 How are you? I really hope you are well and happy. My grandson is 17 y/o. He hasn't spoken to me and the rest of the family except for one aunty since he turned 13. Until last week. I was of course very, very happy but despaired at the same time. He was angry at his mom and talked about how he has to settle into a meaningless life because of her. I offered for him to live with us, for us to discuss the possibility of him taking the online classes that he wanted but he refused to talk further. I do not know what to do to help him.
You don't have to thank for watching Extraordinary Attorney Woo. As the audience I must thank your effort for playing this role that has brought joy to my life.

Her work was extraordinary. Not only she managed to build a great lovable character, but also she combined long jargon scenes with the proper autistic traits. Making long scenes is very difficult. And her research on autistic people to deliver her portrayal was a top notch work, not only as an actress but as the psychologist she is.

I can't think of anyone who deserves this award more than Park Eun Bin. She is so respectful of people with autism and she has so much humility in her soul. The reason that she was able to play the role so well was because of her unassuming nature, gentle and kind spirit, and absolute humility to go into the world of autistic people to understand them. Park Eun Bin, you have made the world a much better place!

I am not much of a K-drama fan but I've become an ardent devotee of hers. So glad they recognized and rewarded her this way. And I love how they gave her the stage without any attempt to rush her speech. Crossing my fingers that they overcome all the hurdles and give us a second season of Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
You’re missing out on many great shows. Besides the fact that “Jun-ho” is currently doing his military service & has like 14 more months, I think Park Eun-bin already said that she didn’t want to do a 2nd season. But you never know 🤷🏽♂
@@shinyagami8843 Yeah, I knew about the military service and her reluctance to do a second season. Perhaps this award might change her mind. After all, she was afraid to take on the role the first time too. That all said, sixteen more legal cases, more battles between Hanbada and Taesan, and a marriage for the whale couple. That would make a lot of fans happy, including yours truly.
@@hblanche yeah who knows, it might but the award might also act as a deterrent? You know it’s best to quit while you’re at the top 🤷🏽♂ More like 8 cases though as most concluded in a 2nd episode. It would also be a good thing if they were to explain why the “animosity” between the two CEO’s 🤔 Just because they liked the same guy doesn’t make a compelling reason. Some flashbacks of their college years would make for good entertainment! Me too but I think it’s a long shot 🤷🏽♂

She should have won an Emmy based on her performance if they ever even consider this. It is authentic, meaningful and she was right, she has to make sure her acting is not because of her prejudice but remain authentic that will elicit the response needed for the show to flow. It will be one of the performances that will live through many generations of kdrama.

Best K-drama I have ever watched! Not only did it have everything, it didn't drag, and it never got stupid! Park Eun-bin deserved an Emmy since the show played in the States.
This portrayal was as award-worthy as any other by any other that I've ever seen.
EAW is nominated for an Emmy. It was announced this September 2023. Winners will be chosen on Nove 20, 2203 in New York. Please pray to the Emmy gods that she wins. But win or lose: WE LOVE HER VERY MUCH!

I have never watched a winner's speech twice. And I have saved my time to watch the series when I can do it in one go. So now's the time. Sorry I'm late to the party but I simply save the best for last. Congratulations, Eunbinshi! Watch her in the King's Affection, too! It's a good series as well. Any lead actor she's paired, she always have a great chemistry! And oh, she's one of the few Korean actresses who knows how to respond to a kiss! LOL
She deserves the award. It was expected by a massive audience I think. Absolutely brilliant performance. She was able to portray an autistic gestures perfectly and able to memorize a lot of articles as a genius. What a modest speech and she is the prettiest I’d ever seen in the k dramas. Looking forward to her next project. It’s seldom that women heroine get my attention maybe because I’m a woman but atty Woo captured my attention, her innocence and brilliance. ❤

Even my friends who typically didn’t like kdramas liked this show. So I think it was a big deal and she really did deserve the award.

But I want to talk about the way she sincerely thanked each audience member for watching the film; to the people who worked side by side with her on the project; to the people who loved and supported her, and the way she hesitated for fear of hurting someone made me realize how humble and sincere she was. Gratitude and kindness are two things that if a person has, they will never suffer. Park Eunbin will go even further in the future with everything she possesses.

I'm 66 and retired, I watch a lot of Korean shows on Netflix. My kids laugh at me, because I'm a big horror. But the acting is so good and and the humor is low key be funny. She was great in this part, a well deserved winner. My favorite is still Vincenzo, and Business proposal.
