My bees have a 3 month dearth every summer. I can tell you when nectar or syrup stops they all stop being hygienic. Probably trying to work less to survive longer. When they get a little bit of trickle feeding they will clean their hives in a couple of days.. and my bottom trays get full of debris, wax moth larvas and varroa

Awesome video! Great work team! When you first started pulling frames, it seemed that the nucs were scoring lower than the doubles. As the video went on, I don't think the trend continued. However, did you record colony size in your data set to see if it has any correlation with the UBeeO score? I would assume that there would have to be a minimum population size to get an accurate score.
I don’t know if we recorded that or not. I had a lot of 5 frame (old queen splits) that scored really high. If there was a correlation it was really loose.
We did not record size for these colonies but have looked for a relationship between colony size and UBeeO several times and haven’t found anything…

Have you tryed to spray other things on the circle, like Pam spray that and see what happens. Also be careful what you wish for because the hives that produce 2 to 3 hundred pounds have huge mite loads, the reason is the queen is prolific more bees more honey, idel woukd be able to treat them before the threshold. We dont know what the bees know what if they recognize the mites as a problem and she lays more eggs and those are the big hives. The bees have been here for 10.000 years without the help of humans.

Even if they remove the the bee where dose the mite inside go to?
The young mites die I believe. At the very least reproduction is interrupted, and the old mite foundress has to try again.
Not telling what to do but those Bees are mad at you I think you ought to use A portable bee vacuum that way they don't get Stressed. I don't know anything about Bee but I've been watching utube videos and I noticed a guy use the Bee vacuum to clear off the honey comb. Anyway thanks for listening and good luck in your research.
