Kisuke Urahara’s bankai is one of the most impressive transformations within BLEACH’s TYBW arc. This amazing form was revealed during Urahara’s battle against the sternritter Askin. Urahara’s bankai takes effect within a target range, as his bankai has the ability to restructure anything that he touches. This surgical bankai has many uses, and in this video we will dive into everything that we know about Urahara’s impressive bankai.

It’s a bankai reveal like this that makes you glad Uruhara is an ally. It speaks so deeply of him as a person and the depth of his mind.
If in a war against him, which is a losing battle in itself, you'd have to take him out first and quickly. You give him time, you already lost.

I think the only limit of this power is Urahara's understanding of what he is restructuring or restructuring to. Which perfectly balances this power and ties perfectly into his character's main strength: his intellect.
If anyone but Urahara, Aizen and Mayuri had this Bankai, it would not be nearly as effective.

As a scientist and inventor, the bankai fits him perfectly.
I also like his past as an assassin with Yoruichi in Squad 2. It adds a lethal and dark layer to his genius, yet like Yoruichi he is restrained and responsible with said skill and we are left only with implications.

It's also really cool how it relates to the Aizen-Urahara dichotomy too. Aizen's ability is to create illusions, but he can't directly affect reality in any direct way. Meanwhile Urahara does not make illusions, instead he just changes reality to be whatever it needs to be with his Bankai. Needs to see? Stitch his eyes. Needs a stronger arm? Stitch it. Entrance into an impenetrable structure? Stitch that too.

It's only usable when he will loose part, and he can only use it when he is in bankai form. It's completely useless bankai compared to others, and it's not broken.
This was one of the most exciting bankai reveals for me. I would have liked to see more of it in action. As one of my most anticipated reveals, I was not disappointed! Urahara is an amazing character and one of my favorites!
Very similar to Orihime's power without the defense. Orihime's attacks don't actually "hurt" instead it splits matter on a molecular level and her regenerative abilities are basically reality-warping. Pretty op Bankai

When Kisuke fights Yammy he mentions that Yammy’s attack won’t work on him anymore because he understands the structure or makeup of Yammy’s bala and he’s able to structure the red energy of his Shikai to neutralize Yammy’s balla completely🤣😱

I kinda wish we got a flashback arc - just with all the characters achieving their bankai and their exam showcasing the swords to the other captains.

i always saw the connection between his shikai and bankai as blood: Benehime's blood. Shiki allows him enough control to "throw it around" like a sword and blocks etc.. in Bankai he gets full/"fine" control the blood becomes a scalpel and thread. its dark but when you turn a person into a "doll" like hime is: step 1 remove the blood

It suits his status as a genius scientist and inventor especially it's ability of self healing/repair. I hope we see more of it in the hell arc continuation, then again if we do it means the situation has gotten bad. Still he'd hold his own with the others.
One of my theories was Urahara's Bankai helped him develop his Hogyoku during research. He can tear down and restructure even the gift ball, so why not use the Bankai for research purposes.

Kubo is so good at coming up with interesting powers for his characters. It's a shame he couldn't weave them into the fights more beautifully & kept using the "i have a more powerful hidden technique" card
I mean... if you always use everything against your opponents, any survivors or defectors from your side who see it will use that info to take you down. Ywach managed to sauce the soul society so thoroughly because of his intel going into things. And he doesn't often use that card. Can barely think of examples, tbh.
Agree with Jablue, It's very rarely used. For the most parts, it's already a given that most people who are fighting don't reveal all of their cards. Would say it's a great strategy, unless they're overly confident about their technique. But a lot of the Bankai's kind of hinge on the fact that people don't know the limitations and strengths.
@@kuri_curry Its a terrible one. It looks cool in anime, but only really works there. The reason being that the enemy doesnt outright kill you, giving you the chance to use said strategy. If your strategy is based on the enemy not killing you its a really bad strategy. Lets say you and i have an anime fight, i can assure you would be dead before you can reveal your cards.

@@Feja2503 That's literally the point. If you use everything immediately and that's not enough, you've fucked your best shot at winning. Beyond that, there are quite a few times where using it all will literally kill the user, or they have limited uses of an ability and try to use it sparingly because of that. Letzt stil was a perfect example of that. "I will probably win this fight but lose ALL my powers in the process" isn't something you do until absolutely necessary. To my original point, though, if most captains used their Bankai immediately, they almost certainly wouldn't 1-tap most opponents (except Komamura, hence how quick he is to enter it) and would just give away what they can do before crafting a plan to best utilize it in regard to their enemy That's the issue.

I find it interesting how this bankai seems to be of a pair with Kurotsuchi’s Ashisogi Jizo. A mother and a child. Both are supposed to be guardians, but are used offensively.
Yes, I still freak my friends out by explaining what jizo represents, they don't look stuff up and I'm like I respect kubo for playing out these philosophies! Jizo honestly is a beautiful entity, miscarriage happens, but to think he gives it whatever he sees fit and I welcomes it because it could never be more without the additions!?!?! Insane concept!! Love the hell out of that!!

Kisuke urahara's bankai is extension of himself.He has good analytical skills(analytical means disecting anything into small pieces and study which his bankai does) and highly creative means connecting different things which again his bankai does.
I feel like his bankai would have been the perfect counter to Pernida if they had fought.
I like how he says it’s “Not good for training” but I mean the ability to attack with any strength necessary and then heal the person being attacked seems to be perfect for training purposes lol

He doesn't just "use the red energy" lol His Shikai repurposes Urahara's blood to create the constructs. You see him slash his own hand to block Ichigo's getsuga, and again during the fight with Yammy Through self injury he uses his Shikai, with his Bankai able to repair and restructure *anything it has cut* --- including Urahara. They compliment each other perfectly.
I love how much Kisuke’s Bankai fits him. It gives him the power to learn about and change the world around him, but he refrains from using it unless he has to. Which is very much in line with Kisuke’s view of the world. Also, there is a neat bit of symbolism in how each of the 5 War Potentials, fit the role of a enemy of God. Ichigo is the Antichrist, Aizen is the Devil, Kenpachi is a Demon, Ichibe is Buddha and Kisuke is Dr Frankenstein/Paracelsus. A scientist who created life and a item that allowed you to gain immortality.

The bankai is dope but very short lived. It was the same problem with many others in the arc and I hope they get more screentime in the anime.
I wish the death dealer got even MORE time!! He was so fun, and the fact he backed urahara into a corner of ALL opponents, and ran everybody silly from his passive capabilities, I love it, and wished we confirmed what happened to grimmjow and Nel, because even after his death, the next passive ability popped and that shit was insane too!! God his ability was just so freaking creative and entertaining!!
I still believe the woman that appears has more meaning than what is revealed yet. It might tie in with the reason why Urahara refused to use his Bankai for such a long time and could be a key elemant of Uraharas backstory. Other than that I see no reason for the woman to be part of the bankai. Other than that the bankai fits Urahara very well as he is one of the characters who think strategically and out of the box and his bankai works well with that kind of thinking.
one theory is that the woman is Benihime herself like with Mayuri and Sajin's banke also incorporates there Zanpakuto spirits into the full release from what we can gather Kiskue is reluctant to use his bankai probably has something to do with when he last used it something bad happened possibly he accidently killed someone he didn't mean to

Kisuke is my favorite character just cause he's always chill. He seems so laid back.

The princess is a protective bodhisattva who protects others from harm, hence the wrapping around with her arms to shield and protect.
In CFYOW, it's hinted that he can manipulate memories, so that certainly isn't outside the realm of possibilities for his bankai.

I always thought Kisuke’s Zanpakuto was very similar to Ichigo’s and I always wanted Ichigo to be more creative with his attacks

White Ichigo is more creative with his attacks and simply the way he fights. Probably why he's one of my favorite characters.
ichigo always was hot headed with attacking directly with power zangetsu(cmon thats his name after all he was right all along) wants to use a variety of his attacks getsuga range spinning sword throw flash step black getsuga(the attack byakuya couldnt evade) crimson cero hollowfication abilities to overwhelm the enemy
He has a pocket reality with a power and range limit. His bankai’s biggest strength was its mystery. Combat wise, as well be the Nara’s clan Shadow Imitation. He also has to make his body strong enough to match up.
The line where you say "the characters don't like to give away all their secrets", I think that should be altered to most characters. Just ask Rose when he fought Mask de Masculine.

@@riicky83 Kensei's bankai doesn't seems capable to deal with the Elite Quincies but Shunji's one is deadly, he could cause a major mayhem when deployed with then around.
I find it interesting that his Bankai seems to be Unohana Yachiru. The Kenpachi version. She has a blood-based bankai, Benihime is the crimson princess. His bankai also has that body horror element, and also has some aspects of healing. Makes me think Urahara is actually pretty old, and has some sort of admiration for Unohana. Maybe his bankai represents a transitional time between her Kenpachi self and her 4th squad self, where she was mostly a healer, but still had to use bankai in fights.
Benihime is awesome bankai and it would be Benihime's spirit women in anime but I really wan't see Yoruichi's Bankai (I think she dosen't have a sword, but she have lightning power and she can be a cat. It would be nice to see Unohana's and Kenpachi's zanpaktou. I'll have to read Bleach all manga before I watch tybw. Ps Im so hype TYBW. 😆
Her shikai is the dagger she uses over her hand. If she hits someone with the dagger 3 times they will die.

@vbar964 Suzumebachi WAS yoruichis zanpakuto. It gets passed down to the current captain of that squad. Yoruichi now has no Zanpakuto as it was passed down to soi fon
There was so much mystery in him I admit "I Wanted" to know more about him. One of my personal top tier characters based on my opinions, from oberserving his character through manga and anime plus his character design. It does bother me about Disney having the last arc...I'll leave it at that.

This Bankai would be terrifying in the hands of any character. But it's far more terrifying because it's in the possession of *literally the smartest character in Bleach.* Urahara is the one man Aizen saw as an equal. Speaking of which, could his Bankai not work as a counter for Aizen's complete hypnosis? If he could restructure his entire body he could hypothetically make himself immune to the hypnosis no?

It's not instantaneous restructuring most of the time. Cutting something apart is quick, stitching it back together is the tricky part. Imagine trying to actively do brain surgery on yourself while completely conscious! To top it off, your mind if being attacked by Aizen? I don't think it's feasible.
It can be reactivated at any time so it wouldn’t really work, and he could just screw with him while he is doing surgery.
I absolutely loved his BanKai cuz it was so creative and very fitting of his character. Plus the name is really satisfying to say
They compliment each other because both his shikai and bankai revolve around being versatile and adapting to any situation.

I loved to call his sword the frequency blade because I always thought it can control anything with a spiritual/kido frequency like when he canceled out that blast from yammi the way he did that’s when I saw that he can control his power and analyze his opponent’s energy so fast and I attributed this to his swords power…and I would think his shikai would be able to find the frequency of his enemy’s spiritual pressure and literally cut them in half with ease with that red blast he does with his sword but I guess I was only half right at the time since his bankai has ultimate control over all things lol
I feel like the Bankai release should've killed asken very easily if Kubo wanted the reader to be super impressed and satisfied by the wait to see Urahara's bankai.
His bankai is not power type So it make sense he he wasnt able to use it to kill him right away

I got Urahara's Spirit Are Forever With You version (with his bankai activated) in Bleach: Brave Souls and instantly fell in love with it
Something that's just occurred to me-in part because of the note about the Bankai's resemblance to Unohana-is that the puppet-like form looks like the head of the group whose expertise is in healing. Ideal for someone with a surgically-based ability. He's also worked with, and (if I understand correctly) mentored, Kurotsuchi-the leader of the R&D Department, who's operated on and modified his own body. All that said, I have a theory about the limits of the Bankai: My guess is that it only works on *organic* structures, since Medicine would have no effect on something not of Nature. If he were to attempt to use it on a machine, I wonder what effect, if any, it would have.
he used his bankai to open up a path in the ground iirc so it seems like it works on anorganic structures as well

Bleach has a lot more potential for content. If only the last arc of the manga finished in the way the mangaka want. Sadly because of health issue he needed to finish it earlier. I remember telling my group of friends that we should wait for more content ten years later. Sadly it’s still in progress of continuity and shadowed by it’s long haitus.

I feel like the ability is simply limited by the capacity of its user but disability would be the equivalent of hitting the nuclear button best not to use such a thing unless you’re backed into a corner and you have no other choice otherwise your opponent could turn your greatest ability into your greatest weakness for you or your allies or worse.

I like to think that benihime could potentially be used on a conceptual level like reconstructing the reality that aizen altered or that yhawch changed with the almighty, or even reconstruct whatever ichibe paints over. Certainly a stretch but considering how OP some abilities are in bleach it could be possible.
Just watching this video was amazing, And the fact that kisuke's benihime is that overpowered Is good for the soul society.

What makes this bankai not broken is the fact someone could run far enough that the effects on them wear off and once the bankai is unactive everything goes back to normal. If everything he does with it was permanent then it would be op.

I feel like Kisuke is Bleach's Kakashi. They always seem to be one to 3 steps ahead. Kisuke's bankai is ridiculously broken... I wonder if he somehow was able to select his zanpakuto.
Nah Zanpakuto are shaped by the users personality and desires. Based on what we know of Yamma they can change. Kisuke has a very manipulative, innovative and flexible personality specially so after what Aizen did to him. I doubt that after that his zanpakuto is exactly the same as it was 100 years ago and currently his zanpakuto fits him perfectly.
