Meat consumption, Protein intake, healthy lifestyle are all apart of the self-sufficient lifestyle.
We started raising meat rabbits to reduce the cost of meat at the store. What we didn't know is how much we would love raising rabbits.

  • The hippies in the early 70's kept rabbit's for meat. Along with a community garden.

  • I'm also building rabbit hutches on top of my compost bins, this has been one of my goals for about a year now, this is the year it gets done, I'm new at raising rabbits, but I'm good at designing systems that work.

  • Love this. My latest book involves a chicken, paramedic Chris and the runaway chicken. I should do an episode on rabbits.

  • Congratulations, excellent innovation... I have 2 questions: Is it healthy and convenient for the chickens to be there?... And how do you kill the rabbits to prevent them from suffering?... Thank you very much for this video, it is really useful.

    • We haven’t broken it down to that extent but here’s what I can tell you. We have 17 rabbits we’re feeding right now including grow outs. I go through a 50 lb bag of grain every 3 weeks at $24. The 17 probably eat 10lbs of hay a week and I’m buying a bale for 8 dollars at 70lbs.

  • How come when I try to raise rabbits some moron always calls the law on me and the law shows up and beats the living crap out of me as soon as I answer the door? One cop actually stuck a gun in my mouth and told me I better pray they don’t find any rabbits on my property. Of course they did and proceeded to beat me like a drum. And they never arrest me, just show up and violently assault me. Cis that normal while trying to raise rabbits?

    • I’d say no. But… idk your situation… that being said. I’d probably put a bunch of mirrors up in your house. Just a suggestion to start looking at yourself more frequently. You may just get a sneak peak of the problem….

    • @@LIUlifestyle how could this possibly be my fault? I don’t call the law on my self and tell em to come kick me in the balls and rip out half my hair. They just show up demanding to see if I have rabbits and beat the absolute piss outta me.

  • Don't rabbit have to eat their defecations (as a way to utilize all of the energy they can extract from food) ? Edit: Great Video btw
