  • Holy shit that looks daunting. So many pipes, hoses and cables.

    • first time i did it it was very daunting, but its not too bad once you get into it. masking tape and a sharpie helps keep things organized and will remind you where things go :)

  • Great looking forward to replacing the cooling system in my e46 and this was a big help, I couldn't find any good complete guides on youtube. I think you should reupload the coolant replacing part of this video with a title more people would search when looking to replacing all of the hoses like "BMW e46 complete coolant Hoses replacement" or something would be great for other people to find easily!

  • Excellent video & mechanical engineering. The only thing I would have done differently is I would have used brake clean and sprayed the intake out and cleaned it up, let me know if you think that's being ocd or if you agree. Thanks again for a great video.

    • Thanks Johnny! I agree, it would have been nice to even run it through a parts washer stripped down. I couldve spent a little more time cleaning on that job lol.

      @DayOffDIY@DayOffDIY Жыл бұрын
    • While you can do that, realize that the CCV system is just going to send oil right back into the intake the moment you run the engine again. The oil separator isn't perfect.

  • Excellent video. But I hate that you call the car a junker. The 3 series are awesome cars if you take care of them. I'm a frugal cheap skate and have a 2005 bmw 330ci zhp, and it's my baby and has been nothing but good to me. The cooling system is definitely the achilles heel on these cars but once you understand that these cars are just so damn reliable and fun to drive. They just have that analog feel you don't get from so many new cars. Happy driving, friend.

  • Great video. Do you have an Amazon affiliate link? I found myself adding products to my Amazon cart you mentioned like the 3M spray and Sil Gylde. Did you inspect the injectors while the intake manifold was out? Would that have been a good time to clean them, maybe in an ultrasonic cleaner?

    @marcnotyou3191@marcnotyou3191 Жыл бұрын
    • Thank you for the heads up! I just added the links for sil glyde and wet silicone spray. I ought to go back through this video and see what other links i can provide. I didnt inspect the injectors, its sometimes difficult to see issues in the spray pattern with the naked eye but not a bad idea! Potentially a great time to clean them! I dont have any experience cleaning injectors by hand or with an ultrasonic cleaner but thats a good idea for a future tool to pick up :) Thanks for the feedback Marc

  • DIY I'm going to accomplish this project when I get to feeling better. The only thing that spooks me are the vacuum hoses underneath the intake. I just want to know the size of the vacuum hoses I need before I get started. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    @tweedjohnny8740@tweedjohnny8740 Жыл бұрын
    • I can hopefully find a size for ya in the garage, from what i researched online it looks to be inside diameter of 3.5mm, Ive found that there is not much size variation once you get down to this small of size, and theres usually only one spool at the auto parts store that looks correct and fits. takes some guesswork out of it

  • Great video .. a mechanic just charged me 900 and change to change those 2 hoses under the intake manifold.. one split wide open.. 5.5 hrs labor.. does this sound fair?

  • Why not cleaning the leaked coolant beneath the intake manifold and what is the reason you do not use OEM parts and hoses?

    @danielhoffmann3365@danielhoffmann3365 Жыл бұрын
    • I cleaned it up with water after repairs, and as far as OEM parts, I would love to, theres nothing better, but $$ is tight and I need to save with reputable value brands as much as I can to keep the channel going
