The Incredible Hulk (1977 - 1982): Dr. David Banner is a widowed scientist caught in the middle of an experiment gone bad. As a result, whenever Banner gets extremely upset or stressed out, he turns into a huge green monster called the Incredible Hulk, with awesome strength and rage to match.

Rip Bill Bixby.... Gone but never forgotten
Bill was the best guy in the series
Also lou was not bad
Bill and Lou were a great team
@@kevinmiller7812 : Lou was a great actor.
2:43 Love how during this whole struggle, he still finds the time to take his hands off the wheel and strike a bicep pose.
Always found that hilarious hah
It has always been hilarious all his clothes are torn to shreds except his pants
@@annearly3200 Probably why the female fans watched the Hulk...to see if they get an eyes view of the Hulk's "Snicker Bar." 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
With both arms too!!!😂😂
Did it ever occur to the stewardess and the passengers that the Hulk saved them all?
If only while the Hulk was sitting there Leslie Nielsen could have looked in and said, "I just want to tell you both good luck, we're all counting on you."
and dont call me Shirley
I think the guy from 5:56 was one of the passengers in Airplane!
@@williamshaw9047 I noticed that too! Very strange. Is it a coincidence or an inside joke?
Also, it was good the Hulk doesn't have a drink problem or else he'd throw water over himself and the makeup would run.
🍷😆😆
This scene was so good dude. I love how hard he tried to resist transforming into the hulk until he couldn’t fight it anymore.
Right and it was no coincidence that he keeps hearing the captain say "Stay in control" and "Keep fighting it David".
Good thing that he changed though otherwise they all would have died..
Who plays the "mid change" Hulk - between Bill and Lou...??
@@79designOrgUkwebdesign Bill still does
@@79designOrgUkwebdesign I think it's all Bill. I think the only time someone else played them in between was when he was stuck in the "Prometheus" episode.
Hulk wasn't even mad. He was so focused on trying to figure that plane out.
Why is his name David, and not Bruce?
I don't know why I think the name David sounds better because it sounds more like a doctors name
It is stressful when you can't figure something out
@@mikerotonda6264 if I'm not mistaken is full name is David Bruce banner but I might be wrong
@@mikerotonda6264 Because the producer, Ken Johnson wanted the show to viewed as an adult drama, not a comic book. So, he wanted to change what he felt was a staple of comic books, and Stan Lee's comics in particular, that major characters frequently had alliterative names. He named the character “ David”, after his son.
The writing for this scene was great, the double meaning of what the air traffic controller was telling Banner was very clever.
The kid coming into the cockpit and said who are you where's David, that was clever or you were being sarcastic?
@@Majahpaine No, he meant the guy on the radio telling David to "Stay in control!"
That scene would not work today. Normally would scream scared. Not calmly ask.
This is why Bill Bixby was an amazing. He truly brought the depth of Banner's inner turmoil and how it felt when he transformed into the Hulk. That's why I love the transformation scenes.
An amazing what?
he did not like the green make up or the white contacts. But he rarely agreed with persuasion.(from the directors)
@@alcalu It's like saying he's an "Avenger" he is an Amazing.
@@fucheduck rarely agreed to put on the contacts? It was literally every episode
The demi-hulk was way scarier than the Hulk himself
When a man says get out while his eyes are a green-white color you do as he says.
David really fights the metamorphosis here. I love that. He seems to be able to at least slow the transformation
The writers of this show were clever when it came to scenarios to put Banner/Hulk into. Banner couldn't think his way into pulling back on the locked controls, and Hulk couldn't smash his way into a safe landing.
The writers were also frugal by getting him into scenarios that saved money by using Universal Pictures stock footage, in this case from Airport 1975.
@@MagicAl5F4781 Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I hadn't really seen the Airport movies from the 70s, I was aware of them but hadn't seen them. So to me this scene was wholly original. Then I did notice the same type of scene showed up in other TV shows of the later 70s/80s where someone is talking down non-pilot in flying a commercial airliner.
I recall Robert Foxworth(co-pilot bad guy in Airport '77) was Dr. Frankenstien in the Dan Curtis productions. Now Dr. David Banner ex M.D. displays his approach to that.
That’s hilarious him getting pissed off trying too find the breaks 😂😂
Actor Ed Peck is the Captain who instructs David in landing the airiplane. Let's give Peck some credit. His voice adds to the intensity of the scene.
He played "Captain kirk" in a few episodes of Happy Days, he was the tough cop that hated the Fonz. He also played a military police officer in an episode of Star Trek when a time warp sent the Enterprise back to the year1969.
I love how he tried to resist turning into HULK but in the end HULK needed to come out
He cant control it. It was a plot contrivance.
@@dan2007kohn He wasn't "controlling" the transformation he was simply fighting it very hard. David was still transforming just more slowly than he usually does because he knew that if he didn't fight hard to retain some level of conscious control over his mental faculties that the creature by itself would not be able to land the plane.
David had no choice. There were people on that plane whose lives were just as much in danger as David's. Compare that from earlier in the episode when the evil airline pilot driver locked David in that cargo box and tried to eject David off the plane prompting David to change into the Hulk in mere seconds.
@@CatzlovichCatnipAndCabbages Thanks to David's efforts....the Hulk succeeded in landing the plane. Too bad David was mentally unavailable when it came time for the Hulk to stop the plane by hitting the brakes....one of the rare times the Hulk's strength was useless.
@@3912James Bro tried to call David, David: David is currently unavailable at the moment, please try again later 💀
It's too bad that the video stopped before it showed him escaping the plane. The irony in that these people owe him their lives and all they see is a monster. But I liked how the captains instructions became like a subliminal command as David slipped into the transformation allowing the Hulk to make that one single decision
In most cases...once fully transformed the Hulk acts out on David's last goal and objective prior to the transformation.
@@3912James David once said "As near as I can tell, the Creature has never wantonly destroyed anything or seriously hurt anybody. Apparently he is motivated to deal with whatever frustrates or angers ME." So what you're saying falls along those lines. I agree.
@@Artisan1979 Unlike the modern versions of the Hulk where he causes no end of destruction and harm and goes on mindless rampages that forced the Avengers to banish him from Earth. Since Banner is David here rather than Bruce, I'm going to believe this is a different Hulk from another Earth in the multiverse.
Let's get the dude who has the worst time handling stress to land the jumbo jet... 👍
That guy wouldn't be a very good air traffic controller. He stressed up the situation.
This is the best Hulk out of the entire series. "Keep fighting it, David." He did too!!
Yes, it was, especially with Brandon Cruz as a guest star.
@@LizC1213 💯
This and the first one from the pilot when he's changing the flat tire.
@@warreng3238 Agreed.
I beat David was boxing the hulk 🤣
The writers thought of everything with this series LOL. That air traffic controller was so annoying I think I could have turned into the hulk as well!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Classic 🤣🤣👏👏
I thought same :D
Hilarious but true 😂💯
🤣🤣 he was pissing me off as well
I miss Mr. Bixby so much! I have watched this show ALL of my life (since 7 years old now 50). I will be meeting Lou F. next week. My dreams have come true!! Blessings!
Bixby was an exceptional actor. Very sad how his family and his life ended up. RIP.
@@TheRmm1976 wow I knew he had prostate cancer but didnt know what happened with his family. :(
@@mslisaplace Yeah I'm pretty sure his son died of a freak illness, wife suicide, then he died of cancer.
@@TheRmm1976 Yes my friend. I looked it up last night. I am still struggling to hold back tears. He was such a nice man with a beautiful family. I could not bare to see him cry. Thank you for this information.
Met him in UK at a gym he was training at for comic con. In 2003..absolute unit in real life.
Amazing acting of Bill Bixby
David, keep control, stay calm! I've said STAY CAAALM!!! UAAARGH!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome scene....... still gives me chills.......BILL BIXBY, was so good. 💚
Imagine he crashed
I love how the ATC is giving him detailed landing instructions and corrections just by staring at the radar screen and not looking out an actual window.
The boy in this scene is played by Brandon Cruz, who starred with Bixby in the '60s/'70s comedy/drama, "The Courtship Of Eddie's Father".
A good Courtship Of Eddie's Father reunion. Eddie was patient to help David his TV dad in Hulk form to help him land the plane. Great job Eddie. Missing a hug to the Dad Hulk.
That was Brandon Cruz in this episode. Great reunion from “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father.”
60's 70's and 80's had the best TV shows.
@2:45 He took his hands off the yoke to flex his biceps lol
This scared me as a kid, but I couldn’t stop watching. Great episode!
Me too! I would always cover my eyes whenever the transformation starts. Then peek through my fingers. XD
Hahaha i run out the room when the intro begin
@@cemlee 😂😂😂Same. But thats what Hulk supposed to be. The horror genre. Scary. Too bad Disney today's Hulk content is a total goof ball.
@@Lizardeatingdeer tf it's better than this hulk!??
@@sbcs2809 Zoomers can't get into sci-fi drama without the characters being quirky self-parody quip machines who never shut up or stop making jokes during, what are supposed to be, serious situations in the fictional universe that they exist in.
Still one of the best episodes especially knowing the youmg man in the scene is the kid from Bill Bixby earlier tv show The Courtship of Eddie's Father.
His name is Brandon Cruz. He played Eddie, the son of Bixby's character.
I was going to post that too.
@@JOECANDELA22 I'm a big Brandon Cruz fan.
2:21-3:52 “747” has the unique distinction of the longest transformation sequence in the history of the 1977-1990 The Incredible Hulk series 💚
He was trying so hard to hold it back. David knew what was at stake.
Let’s play a drinking game, take a shot every time he says David😂
I'm SO STRESSED OUT, I CAN'T LAND THIS PLANE!! (Ofcourse I would turn green :>) Imagine what the Hulk is thinking.... "Puny Banner ALWAYS PUTTING HULK IN WORST PLACES, HULK GONNA KILL BANNER!!!"
That one episode where Banner was put on a drug trip and turned into the Hulk the Hulk thought the microphone stand was banner. Hulk showed how much he hated Banner in that scene.
Lou Ferringo and Bill Bixby were good friends for life and got along great on the filming set.
The other guy has always been saving Bruce banners life.
"The Airship of Eddie's Father!"
1970s: Hulk gorilla grips a jet throttle to land. 2020s: Hulk calmly hijacks a quinjet to take off.
Wished Bill Bixby could have joined today's Avengers. What's kick that would have been!
You can make a fanfic about it. Would be nice to read.
Would of been way better than nerd hulk that's for sure
Lu Ferrinjo voiced Hulk in 2008, 2012 and 2015 movies.
The young boy is Brandon Cruz, who played Bill Bixby's son in "The Courtship of Eddie's Father".
this was one of my favorite episodes
They had some good plane video and great video editing to make it look real. Bill really should have a star in Hollywood!
There is a go fund me set up by Brandon J. Cruz for that and the amt. raised so far is VERY close to the goal.
This is sooooo good!!! He’s really fighting to keep the Hulk from coming out! Stay in control. Keep fighting David. Bill Bixby 🔥🔥🔥🔥
He landed that better than any Ryanair plane.
Yep, Ryanair only hires pilots who suffer from severe astigmatism in both eyes. 😄
When Hulk says to fasten seat belts, you better fasten those seat belts.
Just like the episode of the Six Million Dollar Man when he gets back into the HL-10 to fly again and he has to use bionic strength against sabotaged equipment to land the vehicle. That repeated "Stay in Control" was such a great double entendre!
That attractive actress at 6:16 in the orange dress also starred in another famous "airplane" episode. She's in the Odd Couple episode when Oscar is trying to get Felix to get rid of his fear of flying and they go on Belkan Airlines. She played a passenger Felix tries making the moves on. Being an airplane passenger must be her specialty!
Great acting by Bill Bixby here. The way he showed the anxiety in his speech and body when he was given the task to land the plane!
Because he took the show VERY seriously and it showed.
What i liked about this version of The Hulk, especially considering when it was made, was that they did not treat the Hulk as a get of trouble character, but as his own developing identity. Even McGee was not the one dimensional antagonist that he seemed to be at the start, but started to empathise with the Hulk, and even looking him the eye on a couple of occasions. Yes, some of the scripts were a bit naff, as were the effects, BUT again, making allowance for the era... it was good... DAMN good... and under-rated
I do remember an episode where Jack's obsession with the Hulk cost him his job and his marriage. I think this helped Jack and David/Hulk cut through their antagonism toward each other and actually start to empathize with each other. Each grew to learn how much their obsessions destroyed their previously ordinary lives.
@@10Peter25 Been a long time since I saw them, so details may be wrong, but I seem to recall,.... ... an episode where another reporter was tryiong to get an expose on The Hulk, and had tricked Banner into a meeting. Jack found out about it, and sabotaged it, because bvy tat point he had moved on from trying to get the big Pulitzer style story to rekindle his career, but respected Banner , though he did not know him to be that person_ need for privacy. I also recall a number of later episodes where the Hulk toojk down the bad guys, and turning found himself face to face with Jack... did his Growl effect and snarl, but then just turned and ran off. I think the big dissapointment for me though, was the story which had Dr. Blake/Thor... too much deviance from the p[ersona of Thors character for my liking. BUT on a different topic.. I would have loved a scene, even if short, which established that the three were in fact the same Universe, and had Nicholas Hammand, Peter HUtton and Lou feringo as a Hulk a bit advanced from the one who landed the airplane, not quite Prof Hulk style, still brutish but able to talk, talking together, considering wether to get invo0lved, but Peter Huttonb saying. something like.. "No.. One Sorcerer meddling with this is enough.. two would be REAL bad".. Just image3 the film thatres reactions during SpiderMan:No Way home on seeing THAT eEaster egg
Bill era un actorazo.
This guy was so cool! David Banner!
Thank You for these amazing videos. I grew up with The Incredible Hulk . Im 63 . When TV was TV 🇺🇸
When i was younger I was so scared of him transforming than a ghost especially those eyes they look really scary
A little green at flying.
This is my favorite episode! When he was changing into the hulk and told that boy to get back!😯😁😁😁
Remarkable scene and legend Bill Bixby
And no one can figure out that David is the hulk
"I don't remember seeing that green chap get on board."
advanced common sense may be something that happened around the new millennium.
Just like people still don’t know Clark Kent is Superman lol 😂
@@fitnessfreak212, exactly! Some cheap eyeglasses fooled an entire city! DUH!
You know the plane will be toast when the Hulk takes over!

That was one hulk of a landing
The stewardess, was more terrified of seeing David's, green eyes __ then the possibility of the plane was going to crash. Anybody agree???.
RIP Mr bill bixby
Wow Hulk was the original TopGun !
For a guy trying to keep a low profile, David sure gets into some pickles
Here's your pickle 🥒
This is really good ngl
"who are you? weres david?" look kid...did you see david walk out of the cockpit or see the hulk walk in? where exactly did you think david went? no matter....these are great memories! i loved this show as a kid
😂
lol. Hey! People were just slow to process things back then.
A unique moment in the show where David is trying to resist the transformation and actually, slowing it.
This is why the old Hulk was & is better than anything Marvel today metamorphs. Great acting, great dialogue, suspense was apart of the creation, not a lure to the special effects. They made a great show with a little. Today, everything is based on the special effects & everyone chases the special effects.
The MCU could never seem to really understand the TERROR of Bruce Banner's transformation.
Todays Hulk would have jumped out and stopped it by force. Hulkamaniac
It`s very important to flex when you turn ;)
Incredible hulk is really amazing character I really think this is really my favorite show ever I really think it's really awesome ever I really love incredible hulk tv show is extremely excellent
That boy was from Bill Bixby's previous show, "The Courtship of Eddie's Father."
This brings back lots of memories ♥️ thanks for the video mate
This is the best part of Hulk episode
One of my favorite episodes of The Incredible Hulk
Now see this has an adult , the hulk trying to land a 747 is hilarious!!!😂😂😂🤣
How does David get his duffle bag back at the end of the episode?
Luggage claims.
Loved this episode as they used stock footage from Airport 1975. Awesome episode!
Ok, I was wondering why the footage looked so good and matched up so well for a tv budget.
When bill closed his eyes that’s when he felt the coming out and told them to get out cuz he was slipping control
2:21 Kirsty Cotton: GET OUT Get Out
"So tell me, Hulk, have you ever seen a grown man naked?"
Have you ever been to a Turkish prison?
The exterior shots of the Columbia 747 were shots taken from the Charlton Heston movie "Airport 1975".
Yeah, this is a awesome Hulk-Out.
This was the first but not the last time we would have seen the hulk fly a plane he done it in avengers age of ultron.
I always thought Airplane 1 was funnier than Airplane 2 .. but this was hilarious.
We're all like this at one level ....confused, frightened and just trying to do our best.
Best transformation in the series.
"747" my all time favorite.
2:52 The guy in the suit was in the "Airplane!" movie (he's the one who asks the woman across from him if she'd like some whiskey). Clearly this episode gave a lot of inspiration lol. The only thing this lacked was Leslie Neilsen wishing David luck because they were all counting on him.
3:56 Hulk smash balls lol
David: "It won't move!" Control tower: "We are going to try and compensate for the problem." Also control tower: "Keep pulling! (on the stick that you can't move ...he hasn't got a chance!)
One of "THE" best scenes from that series!
“Get Ouuut!” I can watch that a 1,000 times and it’ll send chills up my spine a 1,000 times!!
