Now you only need: - Some ultrasound emitters to control the flame shape, especially to create an endpoint that does not look like a flame - A solid retractable core that withstands the temperatures, so the blades can actually clash with each other (and not just pass through).
Give it another 10 years they'll get there eventually.
I thought about it and that's a great idea. They don't need the core to be as thick as the saber since it's not for appearances, the flame/plasma around it will do that. It needs to be completely heat resistant (apparently tungsten is the best for that, though I don't know if that's an option) and tough enough to clash with things.
Gyroscopic magnetic containment field accomplishes both those things.
@@EGarrett01 no tungsten will burn away, it need to be way more heat tolerable
@@thelastprussian6491 this needs a coil core with magnetic field, to prevent plasma of touching the solid core. Or a metal blade with electromagnetic wave emitters (for example, UHF), those destabilize the crystal cells of hard materials (with resonance) on the blade's way, and ionize the air to create a plasma coating around the blade, which is held in the magnetic field. Funnily enough, this matched the technological process of Lightsabers in the old lore. The first ones had to be connected via cord to an external pack worn on the back and then the belt as the centuries progressed, before power cell technology advanced to the point where the battery could be fitted inside of the hilt.

Here’s how you could deal with moving the saber quickly, have an accelerometer in the hilt that opens the gas and oxy valves more the faster the saber is moving. Just an idea, great video!
Suprised I didn't think of that, but that may just work, assuming there's any room left in the saber that is
It might not work, the problem with it shortening isn’t from the outflow rate, it’s more of the flow itself, air disturbs it and causes it to recede, increase the outflow and when it recedes that’ll just make it hotter, not taller This is just what I gathered though, might be wrong idk
maybe instead of just more gas, you decrease the size of the valve so it flows faster? adding more fuel would also help it stay lit

I personally think really hot metal would work great
i like the casual dissing of allen pan and disney in the graph at 1:40
Suggestions: 1: If there's still gas in those tanks, you aren't size-efficient enough. Compress the gas into a liquid. 2: The blade should contain an accelerometer, if it doesn't already. The volume of the light saber noises should increase when the blade accelerates.
That’s what I was thinking too. Liquified gas would give more material for far less volume!
But it would be shooting liquid gas???
@@zureroomsoesheh8026 as soon as it leaves the tank, the pressure would decreaase. But with the ongoing fire, temperature would increase as well. In turn that means that the gas would return to its natural state (gas) in an instant and wouldn't stay liquid
Yes but doesn't it take time for the liquid to boil back to a gas?
Just like refueling your gasoline tank in a car, it doesnt turn to a gas instantly right?
Right now, The Lightsabers are basically just compact sci-fi themed welding tools. But hopefully in the near future, The Hacksmith Team would be able to pioneer the world's first magnetically stabilized plasma saber.

You can solidify anything by freezing it but that'll cause some foreseeable issues.

This is the classic problem of technology being limited by the imagination that created it.
What a cool idea! This is really cool and also Lore accurate… in Star Wars, the first lightsabers were actually powered by a device that straps to the user’s belt.
Protosabers, we all know.....do not cite the deep magic to me witch, I was there when it was written.....SABERSTAFFS AND ELECTROSTAFFS ARE LORE ACCURATE....yes. we all know we were all there.....we know the lore......before protosabers, jedi and sith used swords imbued with force energy....bet you knew that though....bet most reading this knew that......that means they probably know about the protosaber too.....in the star wars community its common knowledge, or at least common enough that people don't just assume they are the only one that knows the lore and "has to tell everyone common knowledge"

@@Hansolo-ft2ss But Han, I thought you said that hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster by your side?
@@ennui9745 hes waiting, first comes the laser sword then the laser pistols
Bro your going places keep the good work up ❤❤😎
you also need a core that opens at the same time with the fire so its solid too
You guys are amazing! I watched the "first" lightsaber build you guys did years back and this is an amazing improvement. It feels like the lightsaber development lore is coming to life.
Can't wait for these guy sto finally make a real life working AT-AT. On a serious note though, I think they have a budget to make an at-rt, shouldn't be too hard.
I mean, they made the loader from Aliens. Took them 5 years, but they made it.
I wonder what that in the background directly in the beginning and throughout the video is
@@elektropanda3571 Oh, I remember that video from a few years ago. Not something they built but got a chance to check out, it's a fully operational walker mech. I wonder what it's doing in the shop, good eye.
I’m not trying to rush you, but to make it exactly like the movies you need to get these done. -small reliable fuel source inside of hilt - rod to collide with other swords -not have a flame shaped end - longer blade -faster flame so that when you move it, the flame doesn’t fall behind and bend I don’t mean to rush but take your time. You guys will go down in history.
Loving the fact that Darth Vaders lightsaber looks significantly more threatening, not to say the other one looks less haha. So I’m gonna guess that I’ll start seeing the death star in the sky tomorrow 🤔 Haha, awesome video!!! :)

Lol ideas/request-- Please create a Rotary Railgun! You can even base it on a Star Wars weapon! The ARC Troopers shoulder mounted Chaingun!!🙏 Another request😅 Abigail Whistler's Laser-Bow!
I appreciate that you actually performed that jump in the intro my dude, watch those knees lol Now then, Unobtanium aside, how does the fuel system in an actual lightsaber work? The miniaturization you guys have developed is fantastic. This final bit of information is probably the REAL barrier to developing the common lightsaber we know and love. You guys are awesome, thank you.
An actual lightsaber doesn't exist -- so how "it works" is really irrelevant because it was dreamt up without thinking about physics 😜 Which means however we figure it out, is how it works 💪
Unobtainium is the crux of a lightsaber working. But it was dreamt up by using the idea of LASERs. Which is that when you apply a strong electrical current to certain gemstones, they emit radiation (light.) Star wars suggested "What if there was a crystal that produced plasma when stimulated, instead of light?" So until there is a gemstone that emits plasma when stimulated by electricity (Physically impossible, because plasma is a state-change of matter.) The rest of 'how a lightsaber works' is basically the same principal of what they're doing here. The other key ingredient being a magnetic force-field... which is probably also physically impossible. But the force field is used to create a barrier to 'contain' the plasma inside of. That gives the saber it's shape. But that's where your suggestion might be worth looking at. The next step for this project might be ways to 'contain' the blade in the right shape. Force fields obviously aren't possible, but maybe other ways to contain or shape the plasma-stream?
In lore lightsabers used a crystal that doesn't exist and while there probably would be a type of gas compact enough to fit in just the hilt it would probably explode
@@theHacksmith well if you found a way to contain the plasma in a magnetic field without the need of metal at either side that would be a step closer but as of now I don't think that's possible
@@jenniferdunstan5065 hear me out, I wonder if there's any merit to those string looper kids toys. You know, where there's a fast spinning wheel, and you wave the handle around to make wavy shapes. Perhaps a series of strong magnets alternating a push and pull could create a similar loop, however one that moves a lot faster than a piece of string, so would be more difficult to deform. If you could fling a magnetic loop like that, it could be feasible, but the power consumption for that alone would be significant
"The Darkside is more powerful." "I know I wanna join it." That Got Me Good🤣
you should try to find a heat resistant material that is possibly see through and make a layer around the light saber that can hold the flame into a compact shape so the light sabers can clash together and whatnot and is retractable with the fire so that it actually looks like a real saber. You should take inspiration from the actual toy light saber and make it compact like those except the blade goes all the way into the handle
It looks a lot like how lightsabers originally looked. The with we’re actually the ones that made cordless lightsabers. Awesome work!
I've been watching this channel since I was 12, I'm 17 now and to see the evolution of your light sabers has been so freaking amazing.
They not "lightsabers". He's making gussied up torches and falsely calling then lightsabers. Then people that don't know better get conned into thinking he did something he has not actually accomplished. You can't duel with those torches. They're not lightsabers and not even close.
@@IntoxicusFreeman Tell me what a REAL lightsaber is.
@@realization3020 a real lightsaber is very concentrated and doesn’t do anything unless there’s actual contact (so it doesn’t heat something up from a distance but rather cuts something on immediate contact). And like the comment you replied to said it deflects other lightsabers or blaster shots. I would say that a thicker and retractable version of one of the first lightsabers they made (the one where they heated up a rod) that heats up incredibly fast would be the closest you can get to a real lightsaber.
@@IntoxicusFreeman cool, but i don’t care
I loved it! I can't wait to the next one
Impressive work Mr Stark
