  • Hello from another family looking to travel off-road with a baby (currently 7 months old)! I love your videos and am always linking them to other people with kids looking to do something similar. The bushing failure you experienced is not uncommon regardless brand (Icon, King, ADS, etc.). It comes from the fact that such bushings are racing parts without any dust sealing, so if dust or grime gets into the bushing (as opposed to just along the edge of the contact area), it eats away at the nylon bearing material and, once a gap appears between the nylon and the metal bushing, more and more dust gets in and it gets rapidly worse. In fact, getting 60,000 miles out of those bushings is a pretty big accomplishment as I generally view them as a 15,000 to 20,000 mile service item. That's why I've since switched to only suspension components where the joints are sealed.

Take some pictures and send them to Pampers, Huggies, etc. Can you be so kind to indicate: 1. The make and model of your tires 2. Make and model of your rims 3. Make and model of the camping oven. Thanks in advance.

Didn't realize the nav upgrade options were more limited on the GX460 or the nav to non-nav conversion pretty much non-existent. I'm finally sourcing all the parts to do the nav to non-nav conversion on my 2005 GX470 and go with a Sony headunit. Looking forward to seeing what LSO comes up with

  • Australian and SA overland products are the best! For your new trailer I would recommend the Australian made Hitch-Ezy. With this hitch you can couple your vehicle and trailer from any approach angle and with any camber in the terrain. Makes connecting a lot easier when off-roading. But you have to pay for quality. The Hitch-Ezy is kind of pricey compared to American/Chinese products.

    @drzero9360@drzero93605 ай бұрын
    • I like those hitches as well and we may test one at some point. We've been running the Max Couplers since 2016 and they've also been very reliable and strong. Just slightly more difficult to pin up but not bad.

    • It's not to expensive its your priorities are not there

      @ericela8208@ericela82085 ай бұрын
    • Agreed, it's definitely not a cheap trailer. To build something that will put up with our constant use/abuse requires a high level of quality components and craftsmanship. Having been in construction and manufacturing over the years it's wild for me to see how much costs have increased just in the raw materials, much less the labor expenses, not to mention the overhead like buildings, tools, insurance, etc. We could have gone with a cheaper trailer but the fact is those units wouldn't stand up to our use-case. There are lots of other options out there and you'll never hear us say this is the only way to go, but if you're someone who wants a unit that can go for months at a time then this is one of the better options. Like a few mentioned here, building your own is another way to ensure quality but that also requires a lot of time and skills. Oh and don't forget that the main thing is to get out there with what you have. It's easy to get distracted with the gear but it's really only a small part of the experience. 👍
