The XL American Bully Dog - Why he should NOT be banned!

I am against banning the XL American Bully as it will not solve dog attacks. Only controlling dog breeder and owner licensing will help regulate breeders who breed and distribute dogs with bad temperament and health. Dog licenses will make people control their dogs in public places and be accountable. MPs love the easy way out and by banning one breed just to pretend to make the problem go away temporarily means it will resurface with other dogs. There are really awful breeders out there. Puppy farmers and back yard breeders who breed with abused dogs with bad health and temperament. They are breeding from the dregs of the dog population and these dogs are being sold to owners who do not attempt in any way to control and train their dogs. Let’s force licenses onto them so we can get rid of the s**t and be left with the best.

  • Since 10yr old Jack Lis was killed by an XL in November 2021 there have been 18 fatal dog attacks, 9 of which were by XL's. I love dogs and generally agree with the point that it is the owners at fault. However just as we have legislation to prevent people owning machine guns but allow shotguns, we need to have legislation to ban certain breeds. No one has the right to own a dog that is responsible for 50% of deadly attacks in the past 2 years. I believe 4 of those killed by XL's were children. Maybe invite their parents on and tell them why you believe the right to own an XL trumps their children's right to life.

Think of all of the families who will suffer. You are blaming all bullies because of the actions of some. There was a child attacked by a pocket bully when she was out but actually had a pet XL bully at home who was a loving big goofball. The girls dad said that you can get good and bad in every breed. Which is true

    • @trevr10 my dog is well socialised with children and other animals including rabbits. I have 3 children and they bring their friends round our house all of the time. They're never unsupervised as I would regardless of the breed. He's had a autisic child hang off his neck, pull his ears and tail and my dog just kisses him. He has been attacked by other dogs on walks and has never once retaliated, just hides behind me. Is that dangerous to you? Just because some have done horrific thing, it doesn't mean to say that they're all the same.

    • The XL bully breed is responsible for 73% of dog related deaths since 2022. This is despite forming a TINY part of our canine population. You are over 200x more likely to be killed by a bully than any other dog. Do you genuinely believe that you right to own this particular breed of dog is more important than a child's right to live? because if we allow XL bullies to roam the streets many, many more children and adults as well are going to have their lives savagely taken from them in unprovoked attacks that are a hallmark behaviour of fighting dogs. @@FreakOnaLeash2408

  • Unfortunately, XL bullies attract the wrong type of owner due to their intimidating appearance. Licensing is much harder to implement than a breed ban. A breed ban won't solve 100% of the problem, but it will solve 80% of the current issue. But yes, the bad owners will switch to another breed. A chow or mal in the wrong hands will be as much trouble as an XL bully. Breeding and ownership accountability is the most viable way to break the cycle.

If they were imported then how on earth can you tell if they are responsible breeders? If their ears are chopped I’d say 100% they weren’t responsible! I don’t agree with the ban because it’ll result in many animals being put down but unfortunately you can’t pick and choose who owns a dog if they have no previous offensives so how would giving licences solve any problem. If they have no prey drive why are so many small dogs and children falling prey to them. It’s a very contradictory statement. I literally saw a 12 week old puppy picked up and shaken to death in seconds last week in my local park by a xl. It was a game to the bully and seemingly a victim of its prey drive. I’m sure it didn’t mean it, it seemed a nice dog otherwise but the breed is unpredictable, especially in the wrong hands. Subjecting them to pain and cruelty as a puppy by cropping ears cannot help towards it’s already troubled nature.

We have banned 1 dangerous dog, so they have cross bred it with another and now where banning that dog, pointless. However, the standard is pretty straightforward for all classes and many lines are consistently producing correct type as of now. The XL class is the only one where temperament can be a crapshoot because what this video failed to mention is that in order to get that large size, various mastiff breeds were introduced. • As a breed enthusiast I feel I must say this. It is VERY important to know that there are many different lines of American Pit Bull Terrier and American Staffordshire Terrier that went into creating the American Bully, however most XL Bullies come from weight pull lines that came from the "Whopper" line dogs which was originally a cross of French Mastiff and American Pit Bull Terrier. Most of the shorter dogs are the ones that carry the English and Old English blood. Even though most of these dogs were bred for companionship there are still very many working lines around that still hold drive, however that ISNT the issue. This is why it is so important that people get their dogs from quality breeders rather than getting one from a shelter (with no know lineage) or from a back yard breeder who doesn't do anything for the breed other than flood the market with dogs that have undesirable back grounds/temperament. This goes the same for any breed with high population/popularity. As popularity of a breed grows there are ALWAYS people who try and feed off how well a dog breed is doing, we've seen it with all the other breeds before and if it wasn't for the size of smaller dogs, I'm sure we would see the same with them, the only difference is the size of the bite...most go unreported because a chihuahua or other toy breed doesnt do as much damage as a large dog would. Say if a toy breed dog were to have venom, their bites would be more dangerous and therefore reported and thus, they would be more well known and feared like the breeds of the past were... This isn't a breed issue, it's a greed issue. If you are not out to better a breed there is no need for a dog to be bred. These dogs are not inherently dangerous to people, but poor socialization, over population and high pricetags are continuing to damn these dogs. In 10 years time there will be a new "dangerous" dog breed, the way things are looking, I wouldn't doubt that it will be the doodles or a LGD breed.

So if you go by that logic all Bull and Terrier breeds should be banned as both were used in blood sports back in the day. Same goes for most breeds as each was created to perform different duties when we still used dogs as they were bred for. Hell the AKC even allows "Sparing" for some breeds to still show that desire to still do so. Mostly terrier breeds, even Chihuahuas are allowed to spar. German Shepherds dogs were used by Hitler against the Jews. Old Plantation Bulldogs were used to catch slaves. Boxers were a fighting breed that used their paws as a breed trait, reason they got named the Boxer. Cocker Spaniels were bred so poorly at one point that they even had a trade mark called Cocker Rage Syndrome... If we went off what a breed was bred for or used for in the past most dog breeds would have been banned. For all the attacks there are still millions of these dogs that don't harm anyone daily. 🤷

Normally I'm for giving breeds a chance knowing that responsibility lies with the owners, but as an effective measure of treatment and prevention it's the right way forward. "The American XL Bully and Staffordshire bull terrier crossbreed puppy broke free from its collar in Bordesley Green in Birmingham on Saturday afternoon and savaged Ana Paun, 11, as she walked home from buying sweets with her sister. Police said two men who tried to help lure the dog away from the Ana were also attacked and injured as the horror unfolded along a busy street and petrol station forecourt. There was also another incident today involving two American Bully XL dogs who broke into a garden and savagely mauled a cat to death. The two beasts were caught in the middle of the night on Ring doorbell footage barging into the front garden of a home in Hounslow, West London. The animals launched for one cat, which managed to dart into a bush and escape. But a second cat wasn't so lucky, as it was pinned to the floor by the growling dogs, who tore into the screeching feline, killing it."

I have a pug dog, i spend a lot of time and energy keeping on top of his training and he’s 12 years old. Dogs need to have consistency, but not all dogs have this, breeding lethal dogs puts the dog, owner and public in much more danger than my little pug. My biggest worry is if he ever jumped up at a toddler, he never has thankfully, but he doesn’t have any prey drive in him at all and a tiny dog can still injure someone. So sorry to say, that i feel something just has to happen with XL bully’s, maybe they need to wear a muzzle in all public places. Perhaps the time really has come to stop breeding these dogs. I hope that no one has to put their loved pet down, but there has to be a way to safeguard the dogs, the public and the owners. It’s irresponsible breeding and ownership that has lead to the issue to possibly affect good breeding and ownership…..but if you cant control that Issue or regulate then banning is the only way.

Every time a person wants to go out with their dog, they should wear their collar or collar with identification tags, and a little book or card with his dog's records. If they do not carry them, they will be penalized. In addition to that, carrying a leash or safety or training collar and pepper spray would be good. Some people criticize me for the training collar, but a good cloth collar shouldn't hurt a well-trained dog, K9 dogs use them. It is only in case things want to get out of control, the owners can control their own dogs or other people's dogs.

And yes, so have Jack Russell's, but adults can wrestle them off. Very fit adult males have been mauled to death by XL Bully types, they are too strong to manage. And the fact that so many have their ears cut off to accentuate their vicious look tells you all you need to know about their owners. • Listen up people, regarding self defence against pitbulls/XL Bullys Its all about the frequency of the killer blows. A gun cannot deliver bullets with high repitition unless its a machine gun. A knife can stop a pitbull/XL Bully as the repitition of the knifes blows is not dependent upon a mechanical mechanism. It is dependant upon the rage of the person who is holding the knife. The only determining factor would be the strength and sharpness of the blade and the force of the blows. Trust me, there are some evil, sadistic knives that are actually banned by world governments because in the hands of the wrong person ie, an enraged person, they could literally chop a human or a DOG up like a kebab. Those knives are designed for superior strength and superior sharpness and are banned for a reason. But i still think an average sharp kitchen knife could easily disable a pitbull/XL Bully if the person holding the knife was psychotic enough with their blows on the pitbulls body. Also, a heavy hammer is very effective when repeatedly swung by a pyscotic individual against a pitbulls/XL Bullys skull. Trust me, a heavy hammer being swung with severe force against a pitbull/XL Bullys skull would completely obliterate its head with actual pieces of its brain matter flying out all over the street. The only problem is that during an actual attack the pitbull/XL Bully will go straight for your arm, leg or neck so you would not have time to go inside the house to get a heavy hammer as you would be pinned down by the pitbull. But if a pitbull)XL Bully was outside your door you could arm yourself first with a heavy hammer and then go outside. When it starts charging, you would need to be very accurate with your swing because it would probably be too fast and instantly grap onto your arm or leg or neck. But if it goes for the hammer first and you start swinging with the hammer at the pitbulls skull then the pitbull/XL Bullys skulll would be smashed to a mushy pulp with repeated severe blows with a heavy hammer. If you swing the heavy hammer at the pitbulls/XL Bullys body then every bone and muscle in the concentrated area of the blow would be smashed internally without the skin actually breaking. The severe force of the blow and the heavy weight of the hammer are the factors that cause massive damage internally to a pitbulls body along with severe repitition of the blows in a concentrated area. In my country iraq a huge XL Bully was literally beheaded in 2017 when it attacked its owner in a suburb just outside of Baghdad. One of the mans relatives climbed on top of it with a Taliban sword and started sawing away at the base of its neck from the top, severing its spine - he continued sawing and actually beheaded the XL Bully. I watched the entire video on Liveleak as the nephew pulled out his phone and filmed the beheading as his uncle was screaming as the dog was latched onto its arm. The other relative who beheaded the XL Bully then held the head of the XL Bully up and shouted "ALLAH HU AKBAR". He was in a crazed stated - just like he was beheading an American solidier. The XL Bullys body was still twitching even without its head. The XL Bullys severed head was slightly bloody because when the guy start sawing at the pitbulls neck, blood was forced through the XL Bullys mouth via its trachea. The XL Bully was alive during its beheading - but as the man started sawing its neck from the base, the spinal cord was severed. But the XL Bullys jaws did not let go of the mans arm. I saw the entire video on Liveleak. I never forget when he held the XL Bullys severed head up and shouted "ALLAH HU AKBAR".

The simple fact is, banning any breed will only make way for another breed that will eventually replace the statistics! I'm amazed how many malinois and dutch shepards are currently for sale in my local area 😮 looking myself for another dog of high drive to train and Compete with, I expected to travel a long way, but there's 3 litters within 5 miles 😢. I fully agree with the licensing, I also think there should be a proficiency test and requirement for the dog breed, you should have to prove competence both physically and mentally that you can handle the dog your applying for along with the basic income requirement to feed and care for each dog, insurance for health and liability should also be a legal requirement... the problem though, in the UK you can order food and call the police, see which reaches you first! 😅 lack of policing and enforcement makes banning the easiest option for the political tribe and make all the good owners villains 😢
