I owned one of these for 11 years. It was a spectacular little car. I drove it hard the whole time I owned it and when I sold it, it was just as nice and tight as it was the day I bought it. I sold it for same amount I paid 11 years prior. I wish that I had NEVER sold this car!!! It is a car that is guaranteed to make you smile, and every time you step out of it, you can't wait to drive it again.
The solid and beautiful resonance of dual Webber, I once had a set of these in my German version Capri 2.8. Dude, it sure gets me high 😎
On these cars you just need dual webbers beacuse the exhaust sound isnt important. You just need to listen to that intake noise. Nice car:)
Veeery nice!
Fantastic, just bought a 1967 AC Sport Coupe, looking forward to that sound too.
It was the BC 1608 coupe that had the dual Webers But you know that now I guess? How are you enjoying your excellent little coupe. The engines are great but the handling is also very good.
Music to my ears. It sounds great!
Music to my ears!❤
Sounds great!
What exhaust do you run? Sounds great!
Love it
Here it is. Thanks. Music.
I love my fiat 131 tc but my wife complained it was too noisy, obviously she was to blame not my FIAT
Thats the straightest road I ever seen
Any modifications to the fuel delivery system?
Yes, you need a different fuel pump and some other minor tweaks.
“… Webers *need* a fuel regulator, as they don’t like more than about *3 psi* fuel pressure.”
Can you put double carburator despite one has the 2000 injection 1981 spider?
Hi Patrizio. Yes, that's what I did, I got rid of the LE jetronic and swapped it for a pair of 40IDFs. You need a different fuel pump, a waffle manifold for the IDFs and - naturally - a set of downdraft IDF Webers (bear in mind that horizontal carburettors such as Solex won't fit). Also, for the conversion to really make sense, it would be good to throw in different cams, electronic ignition and a less restrictive exhaust system.
Hello, great video. I myself have a 1980 Spider 124 with single carb Weber. I’m curious what your 0-60mph time is.
What is yours? I'm wondering if it can beat my car. Also, I'm planning to get a 79 Spider, so I do wonder what the performance is like on other modified spiders
@@lohostege honestly no clue I’ve never timed it. But it seems pretty fast, I’ve hit 110mph on flat ground and 117mph downhill.
@@lohostege I would definitely recommend getting a 79 spider. The after market support for them is amazing and it’s not too hard to make power. They are also super fun to drive on winding roads or even drift
@wadiaabushanab9607 Yeah, plus a company that sells parts for them is not too far from me either, so I don't have to pay shipping.
@@lohostege that’s sweet, yea you might as well buy one then haha. They are also pretty easy and simple to work on. Lots of KZhead videos and forums and whatnot for help too.
Have you got a 1800cc or a 2000cc? I have a 2000cc with one carburettor, but it's the low compression engine so about 82hp.
Hi Domenico. It's a 2000cc with high-compression pistons and Guy Croft cams. Yours is a California vehicle?
@@antanta Hi Antanta, mine was originally sold somewhere in the US and then spent most of its life in Canada, it's now in the UK where i bought it at an auction. I am planning to get high compression pistons too at one point. The low compression engine is dead slow, but still a bit enjoyable in 2nd and 3rd.
@@domenicodileo9487 Good luck with tuning the engine! Until then, enjoy the car as much as possible.
It really was a shame how those engines were detuned and choked with emissions control for the US market. Good luck getting it to how it should be.
6:13' almost a crash!
@Nick Name How else are you suppose to press the horn?
@Nick Name He switched lanes after the mercedes moved to the other lane, not his fault the mercedes hasitated and tried to merge back to that lane.
La 124 e' comoda essendo d'epoca le cinture non ci vogliono
Sadly soon all gas cars will be banned in EU, Scandinavia and most states of the USA!
Not classic cars though, I am quite certain about that. We value history and preserve it.
Novice driver. The gear selector needs the full attention of your right hand like a seder plate needs an orange.
