Have been doing this for 30yrs. Deadly for largemouth around grass, weeds,Lilly pads. Throw on the bank and slide it off into the water. They can't take it
Amen to that technique!
Cross the tops of lily’s really slow they hate it
Ok, now you're pissin' me off. Hahahahaha! Just steadily handing out us older cat secrets lately. The Sluggo, the Jitterbug now the Lizard? Man bro, it took hours for us to perfect these techniques. 😂
Amazing video as always. Randy, no-one gives advice like you do. It just makes sense what you are saying here.
Perfect timing! Thanks for sharing that gem Randy.
i had to come back and subscribe ! i watched this last night and absolutely dominated the water today. Thanks man!
Good idea....gonna have to try it ...Thanks..
Love weightless , when the grass gets topped out in the water , we get these big holes in the grass like pockets and that lizard weightless you let fall in those holes and you will see your line jump and it’s on
Those are the days that make you fall in love with weightless. Can almost call out the bites before they happen. Slow fall and huge swirl.. good stuff
@@Shane-cg8cm yep nothing like it
Great tip! A lizard is my go to bait I'm definitely going to try this Randy thanks 👍
I’m excited to try this out! Caught my first bass last year on a lizard.
I'm headed to practice this technique now. Gotta practice.
Hi Randy awesome video ! I’ve never tried that rigging. I will now ! Btw the black t-shirt is a good background for rigging. Thanks Randy !
Will definitely be trying this. Thanks!
Thank you Randy
Me too at Toledo Bend when the pepper grass or the penny wart reaches the surface. Works when the Texas rig wont.
This is one of my favorites this time of year. Trick worm, lizard, and my absolute favorite, salty crawling grub Texas rig weightless. It gets it done when the lizard bite is on
Used to use a weightless lizard back in the 90’s. Didn’t quite rig it the same way, but will try it rigged with the crook in it. Used power bait lizard. It was heavier than other brands and would glide real well and the fish would tear it up. Caught some biggin’s on it!
I just got back from Dale Hollow Lake. I was throwing a lizard at wood in shallow pockets. I was smashing the large mouth for three days. I watched the MLF tournament two days before I got there. Nobody fishing lizards. I got the lizard idea from an earlier video that you put out. Thanks for the lessons.
Hey from Canada! Western Canada that is, very few bass but lots of other fish. You bring up many good points dealing with both fishing as well as etiquette! Up here we have to do a boating test. Not the best in the world! But it can leave you wondering while it isn't the best, It simply l gives you something to fall back on when you realize you are about to do something stupid. I hope they don't kill anyone. You also cover what is wrong out there. Keep talking it's the only way to give in! Fishing should be fun! If we make it fun it will continue to be enjoyed! My best to you all.
I love a lizard in the spring. I use a zoom black with blue tail because the real lizards here are very prevalent during spring. It is a blast to do it. 👍🏻👍🏻
I can see this working on my home lake. I like it.
Might as well say my middle name is lizard! 🦎 I trust, love and use lizards all the time to catch big bass and numbers of bass every season for the past decade now. Purchased my own 7” lizard soft bait mold to make my own colour combinations, split colours, customs tail colour tips, and scents. Bullet weight / no wait this bait preforms all year long up here in Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 Keep on keeping on Randy 👍🏻
Randy, great video and great tip. I love to fish the Lizard and have some in my tackle. My june bug is my best. I viewed you using the 8 inch black. I guess I need to go buy some with that hook setup. We have a place here in Lake Wales, Fl. named Bridgemasters. The fishermans candy store. They carry are huge, I mean huge supply of the most modern baits for bass. If you are ever in the area it is located on s.r.60 east part of Lake Wales. Across the street from Walmart. They have rods and reels. Named brand stuff. They can even build a person a rod. Anyway, good tip. Keep it up.
I've been using a lizard for years. Haven't tried your way but had a little of luck in the middle of summer fishing them on a Carolina rig.
🤣 Of course the hooks are out of stock (unless you're using a 1-2 sized hook). I think I'm 0-5 now with your recommendations being in stock, Randy.🤣 But, I digress... This is interesting. I've noticed that the spring bite on soft plastics like this (at least in FL) is very light. You feel weight FAR more than an actual strike. Very similar to pulling a bit through a weed/grass bed. I'm going to try a Carolina rig tomorrow, with this rigged up like that. Randy said weightless, but I'll try it anyway, with a 16" leader. Getting a side-to-side action like that seems like it would work regardless of setup (as long as a lizard is what the fish want). Come to think of it, I wonder if this would work with a Brush Hog.... Thanks for sharing, Randy
Randy you keep giving away all the stuff that's taking us too long to learn but I got to say you are the teacher and good job I suppose next you're going to teach small that you can use damn near any plastic bait as a swimbait
Back in the late 80's I came across some plastic snakes in Texas about 12-14" long and fished them on top like you have talked about. Wish I could find some more of those. Don't have them here in TN. Will have to try the lizard.
I believe they were called snake tricks. I am almost sure it was something like that
DeLong used to have a 17in plastic worm. Talking 30-40 years ago.
and chartruese is for some reason great in stained to muddy water
Stole my secret!
This really works big time and black neon is my go to color
Black Neon and watermelon , works great here too
Black, June bug, green pumpkin are my go to
@@Shane-cg8cm can’t forget about good old june bug too , I agree
@@SpookyRedz yes give me a slight stain in the water and June bug. It is on
@@Shane-cg8cm yep agreed
You got any zoom g tail worms laying around randy? They are great for this time of year for me
Hey Randy, love your videos, just a quick question! The 1/16 oz tricky shacks head, what do you think about putting that on a Lizard? Will it work? Thanks
When everyone is fishing a floating worm we have fished it just like that behind them on 100 yards back on the same bank making almost the same cast and blown out a tournament just like swimming one through big stump fields and lily fields.
I've seen lizard baits at the store but never tried them because here in Ohio we dont have any lizards. I suppose it could still work but it would probably work way better if there was that actual forage around here.
Interesting..
how do i not think of these types of riggings on my own (same with how you rig flukes) i’m so worried bout rigging straight on a hook i love these bent riggings that give more action just wish i could experiment myself it gets frustrating knowing how much you don’t know and how tunnel visioned we get
Do use EWG hooks for anything?
You did a video over a year ago, about using an old brand of lizard and fishing it similar...I even bought some of those lizards, and cant find your video to watch how to rig? I think you hooked it so just head of the lizard was crooked to keep it up on top??? Help me out!!
Do you fish it on spinning reel
Hello! Randy. What's the strength of the Megabass Rod your using in this video?
I use the perfect pitch 7’2…www.tacklewarehouse.com/Megabass_Levante_Casting_Rods/descpage-MBLCRD.html?from=INTAG
Another thing. I had a fun time catching big bass on Super Hog green pepper color. Talk about fun!!!!!!!. One day a friend of mine yelled at me from about 200 feet away wanting me to see the 11 pounder he just caught. I trolled over to him and we both took pictures and let that 11 pounder swim off to a certain cattale it was living at. 5 days later I went back there and caught it again on a Super Hog. I watched her swim off again. End of story.
I've had conflicting feedback,I'm 57 yrs old I have a private watershed in Oklahoma old body of water, big Bass, Lily pads,I swear those big smart bass r able to unhook them selfs, r they running that against those strong stocks?
Hey look! It's a trick worm with legs!
good tri, pcatch ya later, Intuitive. =))
I enjoy your channel, but $780 for a rod and reel?
When you say “reinnerate” instead of “reiterate” and then you chastise your haters for using “your” and “you’re “ improperly. I love what you’re doing for our passion and our sport , but maybe check yourself a little 👍🏼, love you man keep fighting the good fight brother
Thought you didn’t like to fish for spawning bass? I’m Confused
Probably doubtful
Elite Series just wrapped not more than 5 mins ago......Wanna guess how it was won Randy? I ll give you 1 clue....it wasnt won froggin or bed fishing😆😆😆 #SpotlightersDelux
Disgusting
Not to change the subject but how about tournaments having a two-tiered system. Larger payouts for the non-FFS in one category, the live scopers in the other category with smaller payouts?
Kicker to that!! So the pay for the ffs boats just like a video game you get nothing. It is payed into a fund to help band ffs from all pro fishing tournaments.
Forward facing sonar is unfair capture of game fish.
No fish history of mankind or creation ever ate or even saw a lizard. Those are salamander baits.
Funest ?
Nah, better off buying livescope
I don't get why anyone would want to catch a bass.
Who cares
