Thanks man. I did not realized there were screws in back. Was going to break the case with prying.
Same, I almost forced it but figured I missed screws with how easy the rest of it popped open
@@heyitschrisbrooks it's okay so far, only complaint so far is that the screen is fairly dim, even at max brightness. Haven't tested its thermal performance as of yet. Noticed it sometimes lags me out in Brawlhalla (on wifi, never had issues with my desktop) Had it about a month of daily use so far
@@heyitschrisbrooks yeah, you can use the included "Lenovo Vantage" app to adjust stuff like that.
@@heyitschrisbrooks dlss is pretty good. Works pretty well and the 3050 is pretty much the entry way of graphics cards with rtx and the 6800h is a decent cpu. No complaints here worth their cheap price. Bought mine for 680 euros and only needed to install windows. Only complaint is that only way of increasing storage on the cheap is to get a 2242 factor ssd, as instead of a 2242 storage they put a 2080 nvme ssd, which is a steeper price than a normal 2080 nvme ssd.
Does anyone know where I can buy a M.2 2242 SSD PCIe NVME PCIe 4.0x4 512GB like the one showed on the video???
Thanks! Just upgraded my RAM to 16GB DDR5. Will say to be careful with the screws they seem to strip really easily the threads, one of mine is almost bare, gonna order some replacement ones just in case.
Same, but i think im do you know the medition of the screws?
they strip very easily ive already stripped one of mine trying to get into the laptop and its gotten to the point where im gonna have to use a drill or smth to get it out

Is it true the 2280 NVME slot only goes for gen 3 ?
This man made me almost break the back of my laptop but thank u any way 😂
Awesome, short and helpful
can this battery be upgraded? if so< how would you place it? does it has srew holes somewhere further?
I just got the 2023 model with Ryzen 5 7535HS and DDR5. Procedure is the same as with the 2022 model, I just slotted in another m.2 drive for more storage in mine. Thank you LaptopMedia.
You can just add it? You don't have to remove the current one? Thanks.
Yes, there was a free 2280 slot (standard length m.2 drives). The one lenovo included occupied the 2242 slot. But it's probably best just to look up the exact model you have and check the specs over at the lenovo website. Beware though, I slotted in a Gen3 (WD SN570) drive to go along with the Gen4 drive Lenovo included. The Gen4 disk Lenovo includes only outperforms the SN570 in one aspect and that is Read speeds, otherwise it's slower than a good Gen3 drive. At least according to CrystalDiskMark which is what I tested with. It's all fine though since if you're slotting in a secondary drive you're probably just gonna use the first one for your OS and basically all you'll be doing is reading from it.
@@carlvictor ok I have the latest amd model. I looked it up, I can just plug in a new one like you said. Thanks.
@@jmt__ A heads up - they have some padding applied to the drive that is included, you might want to prepare something like that if you plan on carrying it around a lot. I didn't bother since I won't be moving it around that much and it seemed quite steady when mounted. Good luck!
@@carlvictor appreciate it!
Thanks for the great demo. Always hate the part where you have to pop the case open.
Me too always feels like you're going to break something, huh? I just upgraded my RAM! :)

Hey man can you do the 2023 model or are they just the same
Mine looks exactly the same but has 2 riveted silver screws preventing the removal of the back
Even though I don't really play any games, but I prefer gaming laptops simply because of all these upgrade options + a h series processor.
For the extra m.2 slot, do you need the thermal gel pad for gen 3 or not. I'm just a bit concerned that my model had the secondary port NEXT to the battery and hoping it don't cause it to overheat or turn into a pillow.
Thanks for the video
better layout than others for self repairing
Just installed my first ram upgrade with this guide 😊 (I did hours of research and had no idea if I would brick it, I'm covered in sweat).

PLease Note: Newer Models of the Ideapad Gaming require relieving 2 screws from the Direct Rear Panel (Facing the back, connectors of HDMI, Dc and Ethernet ports are 2 small back screws. Remove these) Once removed, the back bezel will pull back and off. Then there are 2 Additional long black screws Center\Back, and to 2 steel screws on the extreme right and left periphery. Once these 4 additional screws are removed the bottom Cover can be fully removed. Always remember: Go Slow. Snap Photos if it helps. Detach the battery before waving a screwdriver around. If in doubt, bring it to a small, local computer repair shop.

What size are those bottom cover screws? Somehow a bunch of my screws fell out overtime from usage, so I bought a kit of many different sizes and none of them were right. They were either too fat, too skinny or not long enough.

Is it true the 2280 NVME slot only goes for gen 3 ?
In the video you state that the 80mm ssd slot is limited to gen 3. I haven't been able to confirm this anywhere else and it seems like the crucial site only recommends 80mm gen 4s as a replacement. Can you confirm if this is correct ?
What he said is incorrect. I have the same PC and I just installed a Gen 4 m.2 ssd. I had no issues.
Most storage devices are backwards compatible in most cases. As long as the keying is correct (either B or M key) it should work. The ones that may NOT work would be like first-gen drives or the old m.2 drives from 4-5+ years ago.
For what I know even if you ran a gen 4 in the gen 3 slots the notebook would read it as a gen 3

I have this laptop, and I'm wondering why one of my fan keeps working constantly at high speed? It sounds very loud and works unusually rough. I've played some games on it, but the games aren't even that heavy to begin with, but I've also taken good care of it. I also have a cooling-fan platform underneath my laptop just to help it cool down. The fan is now working like this even when I'm not playing any games on the laptop. I've cleaned all spaces that I'm able to reach and followed many online steps, but nothing seems to work. Even cleansed the activities, deleted some files, made sure the battery status is correct and all of that, but still doesn't work. It just abruptly starts working whenever I turn on my laptop and it never stops. What could be the problem? I still have my guarantees and I think the only solution is to take it to the store for service, am I right? Help please 🙏
Is this still an issue?? I may be able to help if it is.

be careful I opened mine from this guide to upgrade m.2, I bought a 80mm m.2 but when opening the 80mm was occupied with the 500gb, and it was my 42mm spare!

I got this laptop on black friday and I'm looking info about how much RAM it can take and there is a lot of contradictory information. Some sites say up to 16gb, others 32gb, others 64gb... Do you know how much RAM it can take? I was thinking about buying a crucial ddr5 32gb stick that is on sale right now on Amazon. Can I use that with the 8gb that comes with the laptop and have 40gb? In the future I would get another 32 gb and have 64. It's cheaper to buy one 32gb than 2X16gb. What would you recommend?
Nos encontramos de nuevo, supuestamente en el video dice que soporta hasta 64gb por lo que no me queda otra que confiar en el, ya que no hay mucha información (aunque lo más que le llegue a meter serán 32gb ya que los módulos son caros XD)
The Ryzen 5 6600H can handle up to 64 GB of ram. 2 sticks of ram is better since it can dual channel that can increase your gaming and transfer speeds.

yes, but the performance will be lower.
Does anyone have a recommendation on ram I could use for this laptop. One 8 gig stick is enough. But any good deals on higher I am open. I just don't know what speed it requires.
I bought the Crucial ddr5 16gb set on Amazon. The one it shipped with is 4800mhz so anything in that ballpark will work fine.

And is it a problem if it is loose? I just got one of these laptops from Amazon from a Black Friday deal and mine has a rattling sound coming from that corner. I initiated a return, but now they are sold out. I thought it might be a random loose screw, but after seeing the inside of this thing, I don't think that any small loose item would stay entirely contained within that one corner, but my rattling issue won't leave that corner no matter how much I rotate the laptop.

Can this supporr 32gb of ram? Can u try it? Because in spec only max 16gb
No, the spec says that 16 GB is the max they have tested based on the max they ship the model with (notice the word "offering" they use), not that it's necessarily the max supported. The more detailed spec clarifies this with a footnote, and says that the system may support more memory. My 15IAH7 has been running with 32 GB of Crucial RAM for months now without a problem.

@@s8s89hello, I am looking for a solution to install two 2280 m.2 ssd, can you send it to me?

after you undo the screws for the back vent cover you can just pull it off. you dont need a pry tool for that. just installed a 16gb ddr5 stick for 24g total and a 2 tb evo970. had to get m3 cause it would be a waste to get m4.....sadly
This computer takes a DDR5 stick?
