It might sound weird but my biggest complaint about BfN (other than there being no variants) was that they changed the zombies' aesthetic from a purple mansion and graveyards to a brown brick factory and a forest with gigantic trees
I totaly agree with you. That estetical difference was one of the thing which disapointed me of BFN.

My big complains is EA the king of micro transactions Dont let buy coins and you need to grind thats awful

A big turnoff for me personally was how stupidly specialized the classes are. In older installments characters were geared towards a purpose, but we're also versatile enough to be played in one way. Here, everyone has one thing they're good at, and tahts it. Say, i like being a tank and spending on the field a lot of time, and every class had a health and/or regeneration upgrades. Here, Regen percs are restricted to "defensive" classes, and healt to wildflower and tv head. So u end up sacrificing results by playing how you want, or sacrifice fun by learning a billion playstyles. Cactus? ONLY SNIPER. Engineer? ONLY SUPPORT. discount disco zombie? ONLY CROWD CONTROL
That can be a plus for others tho, just look at opposite happening in Battlefield 2042 lol
@@maximilianklinger2712 Yeah. Large-scale combat shouldn't never meet hero-shooter formula. SW Battlefront being not-that-big (scale) did it well with the Heroes, meanwhile Elite Classes in Battlefield 1 where close to that (and bot require a lot of skill) - even BF5 tried to improve the Elites changing them with Class Archetypes to upgrade your soldier during the match, unlocking class-related bonuses/perks for the next respawn (basically turn him/her into the Elite); but that just resulted into a false promise as the other ones.
I agree. The only exception is the Scientist and the Acorn.

There was so much potential, but it was squandered for money... But that’s just the EA way
Looks like EA just "Eats Away" their money
They did something similar to gw 2, updating the game for a year and forgetting about it, (a few years later we got the taco bandit update, but now that’s not playable and there is no way to unlock the skins now), also, the legendary characters, wich when the game came out they where so hard to obtain, now you can pay for them, same with the goat and torch wood, hard to obtain, now you can pay. Rux, you could unlock what he sells playing a lot, but too expensive maybe
Also popcap for changing everything that was good about the games before
ITS EA OR NOTHING
No
Personally I loved gw2 better because there’s so much more to do. I loved the side quests too with chompers pizza delivery, zomburger delivery, target range, bulls eye boat blast etc. The missions in bfn were really fun but once you did them and completed the areas there was no point in returning whereas I often revisit missions in gw2. The town hall was super fun too! I loved the cats vs Dinos, the boss hunts, the randomiser, there was just so much more game modes whereas in bfn only like 3-4 are available each week and they’re never good.
Let's talk about how the ign guy might have been that one dude who called doom way too hard
I been playing gw2 but I can’t log in with EA app, my screen is all bugged out
I miss the kinda realistic style they had in GW1. It was just a charming and cool idea to put them in more realistic neighborhoods and such. The artstyle in GW2 was... Ok. Not my favorite. But here it's so squishy cartoony, It just looks like plastic figures
It's supposed to look cartoony, pvz was always a bit of a silly game.
@@osdadajr1307 what you mean, it's supposed to look cartoony. Art style is not a question of the current age we live in and what's possible, it's a free choice by the art director from the game. If he wanted to make it look cartoony back then, they would have also succeeded with mostly the same style. But by putting them in this realistic environment with a bit of a cartoonish flair, the game knew that it was a "joke" with peashooters shooting Zombies but they still tried to make it look like other similar franchises, like Cod. Which in my opinion made it even more ridiculous and therefore better
@@Firecrob You if you call the artstyle in GW2 only …..Ok. Then YOU have a problem, the graphics were much better than GW1. Tho i admit BFN messed up those a bit but the best one in the series was DEFINITELY GW2, they should have just kept updating that. Also im annoyed that they made the Plants HQ a normal Manor in BFN cuz in GW2 it was much better it had this plant theme going with bush and wood walls and gates, huge trees, a tree house, plants… In BFN they made the HQ a normal manor it doesnt give the “plant” theme.

@@pelagornis5290 It's missing: sticker packs, an actual challenging garden ops, a reason to get money, a reason to level up, character variants, good customisations, and good maps. That's not everything but those my main problems with it.
@@AbsoluteUnit333”Its missing a reason to level up.” What? You literally unlock different upgrades for leveling up. Unless your talking about stuff after master?
The real problem with the multi-player is that each character is way too limited to its own abilities. In the other 2 games, you could have a unique experience each time with the same character, but here you need to use a class you're not used to using just to not get bored. Also, for no reason, they removed characters within the classes. Why exactly? Who the hell knows lmao

This whole game reeks of the developers being rushed and budget-squeezed. All too common these days in the industry... To be clear, these issues are rarely ever caused by the developers. It's the publisher that is the problem almost every time. And with an all-star publisher with such good customer faith like EA, I can't IMAGINE who's to blame.
Hop off pop caps meat
I got the opposite feeling. I felt like this game was very polished and i definitely felt like they poured their heart and soul into it.
Another MASSIVE problem with BFN is the lack of damage drop off. It makes the characters to similar. Gw2 used damage drop off to give certain characters different roles and play styles. For example In GW2 Citron does low chip damage from far, showing players that he excels at close to medium range, as his damage is more significant the closer your target it. Damage drop off also makes longer range characters such as cacti shine as they are specifically designed for sniping.
Honestly exploring the neighborhood and just hanging out in 2 was the best part. I never even played online

@@yNisake just so fun to explore and try to break into enemy base.

What scares me the most about this game’s failure is that they might pull a Chibi-Robo and blame the game’s failures not on their own programming and marketing, but rather people are just tired of PvZ shooters. I hope they realized their flaws and actually gain the guts to make another one
I mean we know popcap listens to their fans, they legit took down pvz 3 to make changes according to our feedback, so I wouldn’t worry too much, if they just understand what we want they’ll do it, and if they know that we’re going to pay for all of it EA may gave them the time they need to make the game because they want money.
God, I hope they try again at some point. GW2 is damn near a masterpiece IMO and this game was clearly rushed by EA to reach deadlines and monetization goals. They could surely hit another home run if they just took their time and gave it their all again
@@gameguin6113I’m back to tell you this aged like milk left in the refrigerator for years on wnd
The one thing. The ONE thing that I believe could’ve fixed my two BIGGEST problems is if they added more variety. The reason I LOVED GW2 is because the variety in all the characters. If they added the “sub-classes” back in then more people would play it because it has more variety and re-playability. More people play then there are actual people in the best game mode aka battle dome

Honestly, as lazy a concept the swarm classes were, I love playing the Wildflower. There's something great about being able to use a respawn point to put more pressure on an objective, plus the grenade and dandelion abilities were cool.
Good execution?
@@JustCallMeHeavy Yep. The swarm classes are a great example of a shitty/lazy concept, but great and fun execution.
Honestly i really like the more "Cheerful" or "bright" environment in BFN over the Dark and Gloomy one in GW2 but other than that i'd much prefer GW2 mainly with the Variants and Abilities... it'd be great to see GW2 continue to be Updated and honestly i personally wouldn't mind the New Characters from BFN in GW2 (However i haven't actually played the game so idk) but as long as they keep the The Heal Flower and Heal Station (Ability) I won't really mind what they do... It feels like there was a lack of love when compared to the other ones
And a lack of time as well probably, EA isn’t exactly giving much time with release dates, it releases that day or else it won’t exist, this is why Nintendo make such great games, they aren’t afraid to take a longer time developing a game just to make it it’s absolute best.

In my opinion, this game suffered in PVP but nailed it's PVE. I find it hard to even go back to the game knowing that I won't play it for more then 30 minutes because the PVP is so boring and annoying compared to GW2 that it frustrates me, and I feel like that's more of EA's fault then it is Popcap. While Popcap did make some questionable decisions, EA definitely just wanted it for the money and wanted it fast, and I feel as if they made some of those questionable decisions, especially sprinting. Overall, if EA gave Popcap time for this game it definitely could have been way more successful but sadly that was not the case. It sucks that there is basically no future for this franchise either, or at least one that doesn't seem present as EA just threw the game in the garbage and I have no clue what is going on with PVZ3. If you want a good PVZ experience, play the 2nd versions of both the mobile and GW games. Anyways fuck you EA you really fucked over a franchise with your own garbage decisions.

My biggest problem with this game is the balancing, some maps are way easier to defend then other , so for example any mision that involves transporting an object is usually annoying as fuck because half the time the enemy have a convenient camping ground to simply destroy your team and run out the clock or your team has less player to help defend and the enemy team plow you over from sheer numbers. I feel like this game (as most games are doing nowadays) tried to be too “kid friendly” and what I mean by that is cartoony, easy to get good with a certain character, not to much skill has to be put into a class to be good. The game is too bright and Popcap just assumed that the only people that would play it are little kids that have way of knowing that this cool skin/item is worth more than their dog. I’m only thirteen but I can remember the first time I beat pvz1 with my mom on a summer afternoon and it saddens me that it’s come to this. I personally enjoy that they went with a more cartoony art style, it’s where the series got it’s roots from (pun not intended) just look at the first game, would you say it looks more gw2 or bfn, it’s definitely a cartoony game which just show bfn is staying more closer to the original roots in art style, which I just appreciate more, just because it’s cartoony doesn’t mean it’s meant for kids, at this point popcap knows that it’s pvz games attract a wide audience filled with many different ages from 5 to 50 (maybe even more), I see it more as just trying something new, and personally, the art style just looks better (repeating myself because that’s what they taught me in school when trying to make a point).

No it was all the team that was skilled, EA just gave them a strict as hell time limit as they always do, I mean look at their sport games, the teams can barely pack in a new feature without almost running out of time, good games with good graphics takes more than 1 year to make, this game probably only got 2 years, so they probably couldn’t add what they wanted to, I mean they had to make new models to fit the new art style, which also means new models for the variations, but they need to add all the characters they wanted first which requires tons of planning, I mean the simple snapdragon blazing blue ability probably took weeks to come up with and balance and all the little fancy stuff.
@@gameguin6113 yeah, EA is fucking demonic
The three main reasons why I dropped this game: - All classes being able to sprint was not a good idea in my opinion - No variants - Most of the character designs sucked in my opinion (The peashooter and engineer were especially disappointing)
You forget the fact that you can now see enemies health its not huge but it prevented killstealers though i agree 100% with what you said
Peashooter is very cuty in bfn
The peashooter suck
i don't like the peashooters design
The All Star looks so awful in bfn. Poor lad.
I remember playing so many hours of gw1 and just wish I could go back lol. I know it's nostalgia talking, but the first one has always held a special place in my heart that the others can't fill..😔
I used to play gw2 so much with my brother
Am I the only one who remembers that the trailer for this game was leaked early?
Nope, you are not the only one
10:29 “We have every character from garden warfare 2 returning” Over goat and torchwood:
Well, is not that Bad they not came back. Torchwood was TOO OP, but it evolved in Oak. Over goat.... It's, ¿Good?, Maybe it evolved to wizard. Probably over goat was good to came back. But torchwood was REALLY OP, and BFN just doesn't have very balanced characters.
I wanted over goat :(ñ
@@ribir1382 yeah, the goat was balanced
Hover goat was kind of trash, torchwood was over powered
@@replyifyourefumingandcrying yeah, But the over goat maybe be part of the support gang, his work is helping the teamates, not go alone 🤣
What a well made review! Good job!
I just observed the Garden Warfare 2 battleground, I have seen a peashooter got ganged up by three browncoats, a pirate got corned to death, a orange got punch by a superhero and a epic battle between a giant stump tree and a giant robot
they named nightcap after a character in pvz heroes but not electric slide, when electric boogaloo is literally a disco dancer with a lightening theme
Electric Slide is a female Zombie, Electric Boogaloo is a guy. I agree with the idea, I just wanted to point this out as a likely reason. They absolutely could have just made Electric Slide male though, and kept the Boogaloo name
@@SnoFitzroy isnt nightcap ( heroes) male tho? And here its a she?
@@gabito2647 I didn't know BFN Nightcap was She/Her, I just assumed because the Heroes one is He/Him. This makes it even more confusing and stupid 🤦♂️
U know what I have found out? I feel like this pvz game was leaning towards a rpg/ campaign perspective with the option of playing multiplayer, you even get upgrades after ranking up your character based on your characters strength and weakness I just really want this whole game to be a campaign with everything thought out with the multiplayer because let's be honest you were not bored while playing the pve regions overall if this was just a game like that pvz game rpg that was coming out which I feel like this game was an experiment for an rpg
exactly. and when you look at the game from that angle they did a pretty good job. i think it would've been stupid to make a game with the same graphics and functions 3 times in a row so i think i can understand why they chose this theme for pvz gw3.
It's a really fun game! I don't understand people's gripes to be perfectly honest. It's way more fun than most modern shooters like it. Overwatch 2 doesn't hold a candle to it.
I think the worst part is the lack of variants. Why did they remove them. :(
The absolute deal breaker for me was them erasing sub classes from the game. As soon as I saw that Cosmic Brainz wasn't a thing I was like "Aight, imma head out."
I guess it’s your opinion but out of all the variants COSMIC BRAINZ is the one you’re sad about
@@crampedturtle I totally understand you. There's a lot more popular subclasses out there that people besides me liked. It makes me sad to see that taken away from everyone in the GW2 community that loved that massive variety of characters.
The only good thing about getting rid of sub classes was getting rid of toxic pea
I really like cozmic brainz.

I woke up after sleeping for 10 hours and this video was playing, I didn't know plants vs zombies had an mmo but it's honestly really pretty, a shame it didn't work out in the end. It seems like it's the definition of a game with potential.
I remember I loved Ops In the second Garden warfare game and when I realized that Ops in the third game was only online I was devastated because I grinded all my time playing Ops in the second game and seeing it locked for online players hurts :I
I actually like the character designs from gw2 more. The new ones just look kinda plastic.
Agree
Honestly they did my peashooter dirty with the redesigns
@@muchneededwater5936 honestly imo peashooter looks a LOT better now, before he looked like ...idk what to say
@@romulo7303 I guess it’s to personal preferences but I liked to old one since it was simple like the first PvZ game. Also those eyes look like they’re staring into your soul all the time lol.
Ace_ofchaos --- I think it's because of terrible lightning Battle for Neighborville (and Cyberpunk 2077) has.
It’s a fun game but I kind of wish it was more like garden warfare
They wanted to go in a different route and I admired that but they took it in the wrong route
@@cadenerfvlogs2406 i wouldn’t consider it the wrong route as I personally found it kinda fun but more of a mediocre job at navigating the route i.e bad presentation, lack of progress, and mediocre balancing (Reminds me of gw1 because although the game was glitchy, unbalanced, and lacked content it still did well because of the presentation, constant updates, and it offered more content than bfn at launch)
When they put out the final update that killed the game if they put out more character customization and also more content would make that would make the game a lot better
I wish EA never bought PopCap.
@@retrooffroadBR Think of it this way if EA new bought Pop Cap we would have never gotten Garden Warfare 1 or 2 and we wouldn’t have battle for neighborville either
Agreed, nightcap was a pain to go against. But going against baby nightcaps I love how they think the invisibility would save them but I would 1 tap them with Deadbeard because their foot prints would show lol
I hope we get garden warfare 3 and we all can forget about this game
Yes

I like how the gameplay lags every 10seconds 😂
I feel like the game just needed more time to be completed
The fact that plants went on for monthssss without having the same amount of characters as zombies is isanity. And to think that even now they still wont be equal is crazy.
Oh boy, BFN have like 4 unused characters, and more characters that we're planned.
Like 10 more characters we're planned, and Iceberg lettuce is finished, but it never make into legal Game. I said legal Game because with hacks is totally functional
Contrary to all the negativity towards this game Im really enjoying it must say Edit: if EA didn’t cut funding for this game, I do believe it could’ve been an absolute masterpiece but sadly there just aren’t enough players anymore and yes it seems like every night I get in a lobby with the same few folks..
It’s cool but it has so many shite mechanics... and the devs really.. REALLY don’t care for this game
@@pyritepanx ok that part about the devs not caring is bullshit, there is so much in the files that got scrapped/isn't finished because support got pulled early. Would these changes have made it the best pvz shooter? Probably not, but they still looked really fun.
The more you play the more brain cells you loose
@@pyritepanx Yeah...
@@omo7002 nah I mean like the people controlling the game and what goes or not. The ice bloom looked so cool and the BFN team said nope
I remember me and my friends were so excited cause we had played gw2 and gw1 for most of our childhood and we booted it up and played it 2 times and never again
I was a founder of this game, got it on week 2 of founders purely because after like a year long break I happened to open garden warfare 2 and there was an ad in it for this game. I'm a huge pvz fan and didn't even know about this game
Oh also I'm an ops lover too, and GOD IT IS EASY in bfn. Like, mind numbingly easy. I think I've genuinely been half asleep while playing it.
10:09 ah yes, a man of culture I see
Where's the comments
No wonder I didn’t know this game existed! They released it the moment they announced it! I was still playing GW2
Funnily enough, I got the founders edition and dropped it quite quickly. Only coming back after watching this video and playing the game to experience quite alive servers. I could find online multiplayer games easily and the main hub always had atleast 5 people in it. That quite surprised me.
The fact that it’s been like 2 years and the game is already dead while both Garden Warfare 1 and 2 are still very populated goes to show how bad Neighborville was
“We have everyone from garden warfare 2 returning” Hover goat and Torchwood: :(
f
F
Torchwood returned as the weakest boss in the game, seriously that guys legit paper, or a person who’s about to be paper cut and your entire team is paper, seriously feels like all they did was add extra health and no damage upgrades or anything, or giving it a smart ai which I think it really needed cause it just uses fire breath, whenever it feels like it, leaving it wide open for attacks.
I got this game from the start. I thought that, without the variants, they might give us more classes. One advantage over GW2 was a higher skill ceiling for each class. But in the whole time, we got .......... ONE CHARACTER THE WHILE YEAR!? AND THEY JUST FORGOT ABOUT ICEBERG LETTUS! NEVER FINISHED HER! I feel like that killed the game for me.
There was ice berg lettuce who seemed almost finished. Seriously, they had her character model finished and fully animated. Then there was another plant who was in the game files and seemed to at least have a model who never got finished. It’s so damn sad
Me in September 2019 : “Man, GW2’s servers are probably gonna die when the full game releases-“ BFN : *Releases and exists* Me : “So anyway, I started playing the 2 better games.”
I remember getting GW2 the first day it released and I played it non stop. Now I remember the first time I bought bfn when it came out and I got bored in like 2-3 weeks lol
EA: making games amazing and then hot garbage since well uh i dunno
Around 2015
ever since activison started putting loot boxes in call of duty
80s action hero is op when you know what your doing
That’s every character, if you need proof just look at tv head and wildflower, even without the extra health upgrades they’re still destroying everything and can still live.
TV head was the only zombie with a melee to finish off low healthed enemies, it looks beautiful but could it be... a gateway to suicide punching?
I would only play garden ops with my brother I like ops to so your not alone man keep up the good work dude love your vids.
This gives me flashbacks to when I saw BFN get released in October 2019 and started BFN in July 2020 Flashbacks
