How to move tall kitchen units | move tall kitchen cabinets

Tall kitchen units or tall kitchen cabinets can be difficult to move on your own, due to the weight and size of the unit. In this video I move the units by using a skate that was made from ball transfer units, which I purchased a few years back from this company- www.alwayse.com/index.html
Transfer balls were originally used in the sand pit cover- • ultimate sand pit cover
I then used a motor bike lifter - fave.co/3KnRcjx
And a scrap piece of ¾ inch plywood to spread the load.

  • Bloody clever idea that, as I would expect from you of course.

  • Hi Chez 😊 good idea mate, that was an awkward cupboard to move, and as you say you've to watch out you don't break the legs off, or worse still have it topple over, that jack and skating board worked ok, pitty I couldn't use that setup to get under my washer to pull it out, especially when it conks fully loaded, lol. Any ideas would be appreciated, cheers mate, thanks for another interesting video, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.

    • Thanks, yeah, you have to watch these for toppling over! You could get a thin sheet of tough material, such as hardboard, slightly wider than your washing machine. Then push at the top to tilt it back, then slide the hardboard under the washing machine and then slide it out. Winbags are great, if you need to lift it up slightly- kzhead.info/sun/fbdpdcp7rKCJiok/bejne.html&pp

  • Not bad. I bought some appliance rollers for the fridge but they really need welding or screwing to the bottom of the fridge as they slip out from underneath. And even though the wheels turn easy it's a different matter with the full weight of the fridge on them. That's on linoleum so on carpet it would be useless.

    • Yeah, carpet can be a real challenge. We used to have some machinery skates on site, that could be used to move machines weighing tons, but I don’t think they would work on carpet.

  • It is better than anything I can come up with but it’s still not great - another pair of hands would likely help a lot to keep it steady while one pulls the cupboard out. Thanks 😀👍

    • Yeah, I agree, it worked, but it could be better. A smaller version of a pump truck, would be ideal 👍

  • Got a kitchen three cabinet (1800mm all screwed together) wall cabinet that is starting to come off the wall. One top corner is approx 15mm off wall at the moment. Is there a way to get to the rail fixing without taking the whole thing off. Was hoping I can jack one corner up to get cabinet back against wall and then somehow get to rail and re-drill and possibly chemical anchor it??

    • I think you are going to have to remove the wall units. Some of the wall hangers are only about 50mm wide! I guess you could get to it, by cutting a hole in the back of the unit, using a multi tool. A mate of mine was stood in kitchen once, and a wall unit fell off the wall 😱

  • I think the principle is ok, but the Jack needs to be more friendly in manoeuvrability, a bit like the difference between a crow bar pricing a window, lifting a heavy weight or ability to operate with a smoother action, a bit like a trolly jack modified! 🧐

    • At first, I tried a couple of winbags and a small dolly that the girlfriend bought from Aldi, but it was difficult to use and hard to manoeuvre. I almost took my pump truck over, but would have struggled getting it into the back of the van. We used to have a pump truck on site, that had really narrow forks, it would have been perfect for this!
