    • This car is awesome. I have driven it before, so nice. Great story from you as well. I'm not surprised about the customer service you received from them. I sell Kias now and I own an Optima now. Drove an Optima GT the other day, another awesome thing though discontinued now. Keep up the good work J. You do some great content and review some unusual cars.

  • Just to be clear.... this man absolutely deserves everything that has come his way. I put a request out at the last minute back in 2016 to help with a prom run for my younger brother, after having just had a family death the focus was on the funeral, which was on the same day as the prom, the car for prom was an oversight on our part, but in true legendary style I got a reply from James who offered to take my brother in his Evora, I will be forever greatful for your generosity.

Save the hassle, save your money and buy a different brand of car. Managers and service department cannot seem to communicate so I'm hiring an attorney to get my money back for this overpriced piece of metal. Paint job really sucks. I have cracked paint from front windshield to back windshield and was told not to wash the car! Are you kidding me? Most expensive car I've ever owned and I can't even wash it?! I'm so done! • I've owned the 2.0L and currently the 3.3L and in 5 years of Stinger ownership they've never put a foot wrong mechanically, always put a smile on my face and been brilliant. I genuinely look forward to every drive in it and always look back at it when walking away. 6000 mile/6 month services aren't really that much of a problem. Every other service is just an oil and oil filter change and you can get 6 services/3 years of servicing for around £1000 through a dealer service plan. Fantastic value to maintain a near 400hp V6 car. Brilliant car and I feel sorry for the snobs who dismissed it. Ultimately it's their loss.

    • @@chrismcfarlane8996 The 3.3 only has one trim, however the 2.0L has two trims (gt line & gt line s). I had the higher trim on the 2.0L (gt line s) which is specced the same as the 3.3. Only differences were smaller and less powerful engine (roughly 100hp less), 18 inch wheels instead of 19 inch on 3.3, no brembo brakes and no adaptive suspension. Other than that it's the same car. The 2.0L was still faster than most 'normal' cars but I found myself wanting the full fat version of the Stinger and interestingly mpg isn't that different (maybe 5mpg better in the 2.0L). I personally prefer the 3.3 for the instant power delivery (twin turbo instead of single turbo on the 2.0L). As you would expect, the 3.3 has more torque and overall the better choice of engine, in my humble opinion.

  • Odds are the Stinger will become a classic car in the future. For one it was a reasonably priced halo car in an era where none of those drop below 7 figures, the fact KIA decided to build a sedan in a world where most people buy crossovers will probably place it among the few memorable saloons of this decade. If you want one, now's probably the best time to find one. Also, on a more personal note, I discoved your channel years ago with a video about the Mercedes Benz CLA. It's nice to hear these stories, as a bit of inspiration to us all!

I'm a Brit from Worcester UK (A little older than you, the 80s were my "primetime") and my life journey has taken me all the way to SoCal via Canada, Virginia, and Pennsyvania. It was a completely unplanned journey as my career went from strength to strength from a small town UK engineering apprentice. My surreal moment was a business trip to San Fransisco, a convertible V8 Mustang rental in tow, and driving over the Golden Gate, Top Down, as Adam and the Ants came on Sirius FM 🙂It was just a "pinch yourself" moment, and yeah, also teary. I do wish we lived in a world where the Wagon filled this....and frankly it still should fill this niche but I'm not unhappy with the amount of sedan options available for guys like us, most of them are cool and fast and offer tons of advantages over an SUV. I just hope Kia doesn't ditch this form factor, they totally need a Model S competitor. If they bring back the Stinger as an electric car I'll buy it. I'll spend 70k on it actually. I don't trust anyone else to make an electric sports sedan other than Tesla and I'm betting Kia will give their performance Electric Sedan an actual Steering wheel. Take my money.

Combining the stories on you+Kia and you+KZhead was a brilliant idea, but how you delivered them was even better. As a non Brit, brittish journalism can to me sometimes feel a bit distant (big generalization of course). Maybe it is a language thing, English is not my first language so I guess I don't get all the nuances but I often see focus on a lot of information, a lot of words. Very correct and "jolly" but a bit strict and you have to read between the lines to find the passion, the real feelings. In this video, when sharing your amazing experience from the trip to USA, you were brave enough to let your guard down and shared openhearted your emotions from this important time in your life. By doing do, you invited us to to take part in that experience on a new level. It was like I was there with you and for me, that is the difference from a good story and a great one. So thanks again and keep up the great work. 👍

  • I really loved this story. Motivated by genuine love of a specific driving experience, told with sincerity, humility, and honesty. I found this video because I’m a Kia K5 GT-Line enthusiast, and I thoroughly enjoyed your story. I hope you become a massively successful mainstream presenter as a result of your sincere, compelling, down to earth storytelling ability. Kia deserves kudos for its current approach to providing extensive tech, great design, and pure driving fun for the average consumer while so many other OEMs are abandoning the customer in pursuit of maximum profit per unit sold (aka: “ upmarketing”). While this video is about the Stinger (now discontinued), the K5 GT (and GT-Line) provides so much of what the Stinger had for such an excellent price.

  • Loved this video, James. As a Stinger GTS owner myself, I’d like to say a huge thanks to you. Your earlier videos on the Stinger are what really convinced me that buying one was the right choice. I previously had an RS5 B9 (had to sell due to my business closing) and most would consider the Kia a downgrade - I certainly did at the time. But, truthfully, I’ve grown to love the Kia far more than I ever loved the Audi. I’m now in to my 3rd year of ownership and still adore it. I’m in a ‘67 plate and am actually looking to upgrade to a facelift model this year (ideally a new one… never purchased a brand new car before). The plan then is to stay in a Stinger for as long as humanly possible! Again, great video James - keep up the good work!

I remember buying our first, the manager had just returned from South Korea and said KIA plan to go right to the top. .Our local dealership is class A+ ...amazing standard, another plus. I've wanted a Stinger since it's release, KIA chauffeured my wife into town in a tomato ketchup red one, she said it was a stunner. Great video...

    • Wrong... Only until the last 5 to 6 years has KIA been underestimated. Every KIA before that was hot trash. Even their past few year models have had various fit and finish issues... Aside from their dealerships trying to minimize any warranty claims (which makes their "industry leading" warranties pretty worthless)

Why would you CHOSE to buy an SUV if you don't have use or need of one? The funniest of all are 'sports SUVs' the most moronic jacked up crap of all SUVs. These versions are the most moronic of the lot, a massive waste of a powerful engine in a heavy, oversized poorly handling monstrosity (see the Lamb Urus, Porsche Cayenne, Aston DBX etc) Drives me mad, people have zero taste or sense!

I have successfully convinced two people of my family/friends to at least test drive a car in addition to the SUV or Crossover. Both of them ended up buying the car. Octavia instead of Karoq and A5 instead of Q3. Non-car people aren't always that indiferrent to driving refinement.

The Stelvio looks like a Giulia that got infected and swelled up. It's impossible not to see that if you look at both side by side. It's also impossible to unsee it once you've seen it. • I really wanted to buy a Stinger, but things never lined up. The year it came out I went for a test drive and liked it, but I’ve learned my lesson from when I bought a BMW E46 to never buy the first year of production of any model, so I shelved the plan. Second year I went again and noticed they removed the maintenance plan from the Stingers, and only the Stingers. I could buy a maintenance plan, but it wasn’t cheap. So, shelved the plan again. The following year I went to have a look again and noticed an asterisk next to the Stinger’s price. That asterisk indicated that VAT is not included, so essentially the car’s price went up by 5% in a stealth way. I think then the new refresh came out. Went to look again and then the salesman told me that the front brakes were not covered by the warranty, which was known to warp and was very expensive to replace. So, when all this stuff starts to be added together, suddenly the price of a BMW 440i GranCoupe is not that far away. Same story Stateside that it was let down by KIA dealers.
