  • Buckin, hands down my favorite video and I’ve watched ALL of em’. My eyes were glued to the screen for all 43:32! Your axe content is head and shoulders above anything other youtube videos in the genre. I’m always yackin my head off to my buddies about ya, they probably wanna strangle me by now haha. In all seriousness, Buckin, you’re a super hero and a legend in the axe community. Your kind disposition and passion for life and all that you do has inspired me to be my best self. I come from a generation that lacks positive role modes, I ain’t afraid to say it, you’re mine. I hope to be half the man you are when I’m a bit more seasoned. Sorry for the long comment I just needed you to know you’re changing lives and I love ya buckin. AXE ON

  • I know EXACTLY what you mean about someone NOT SHOWING their "secrets" when doing a job! I was a newly hired staking engineer for an electric utility company and we had an engineer that was nearing retirement and was suppose to "show me the ropes". But when we got onto the job site he told me right up that he was not going to show me ANYTHING! He said he had to learn on his own and therefore he was not going to pass anthing on. As it was, he was true to his word, and taught no one anything. He thought he was the best at what he was. And he was! He was an asshole and he was the best at it!!! Turns out that I became a better engineer, doing twice the work in half the time with more efficiency than he ever did. But guess what? As I neared retirement I took the new engineers out in the field with me and I SHARED EVERYTHING I KNEW with them, as I took pride in my work and I wanted them to be the best THEY could be! The bottom line is that we worked for our customers. Those that used our electricity. And they deserved the best! So I loved hearing you say the same thing. Sharing what you know and holding nothing back! Thank you for that!!!

  • Friend the yard stick hit me for a doozie last year when I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in september.I'm 25 years old, from Bulgaria and had 2 exams left before I got my doctors degree in medicine.Went trough a lot of ups and downs in the past half year but I'll tell ya bud I've realized a lot of important things in that short time.I had my bone marrow transplant in december and now I feel good, it will be another couple of years until i can be more certain that the damn cancer won't come back but even though not much is certain at this point I don't really think about it that much. Most of the time honestly I'm happy as I much like you feel like I'm living on borrowed time.In this great adversity I've been able to see something few people get to see while they are alive and that is what they mean to other people and to see how many of them love you.Keep spreading the love friend and know that as long as I'm still around I'll be watching you.Best of health and lots of love from a friend !

I can't bring myself to skip a single second, and I usually do on most other channels and their videos. But I just can't skip a single thing here. The main reason for me is because I just want to hear every word he has to say and read every word that pops up on the screen. God Bless Buckin' Billy Ray Smith! By FAR the best channel I have found, Thank You!

I grew up on farms with many glorious hours throwing an axe into all kinds of wood.now I am retired and I built a huge wood fired oven in the backyard for pizza, veggies, steaks... I am splitting four cords a year of red oak into large kindling with a box store axe... yikes. You have inspired and educated me on how important a good axe is! I will search, I will find, I will attain the goal of finding that sweet friend that an axe should be! Keep on buckin !

  • Thanks to your Irish mate Wooly for dropping your name randomly in one of his shows. That's what led me here. While timber is the common interest in both your channels, I'm sticking around the both of you for the philosophy, especially about the way that we should be treating each other. I have to agree that we are all a little whacko, but, I found out at 67, after retiring, that there was a genuine reason for my "whackiness". Whilst I've had an amazing life, good and bad times, and raised an amazing family, my issues surely shaped my life, even though I was unaware that I had any problem at all. Gratefully, I still have physical health, which I can see that I should be looking after more. I think I saw you say that we shouldn't be taking our health for granted a day or two back. So, I'll have to support the channel with a subscription, and out of this video, I'm going to rip the head off my axe, and deal to the ledge that I created when I replaced the busted handle a couple of years back. Thanks for the tips. Peace...

  • Thanks pal, I just came across your video in search on “resurrecting”my axe as you say. But besides that the middle clip when you used the axe handle as a metaphor to life helped me a lot. I say the same thing to people but after you said it I realized I don’t take my own advice. I’m 26 but I’ve lived a lot. But now I’m starting over, quite literally. I got hit by a car in 2018 and now I’m paralyzed but it doesn’t stop me. But I guess what was stopping me was the not stopping and listening to my own advice. But thankfully I came across your video and it helped do what I wasn’t doing. I stopped listened. quite frequently because I was trying to get a hold of the message you where sharing in the mists of everything you said lol. But I got it friend and I appreciate it. I went ahead and subscribed and now I’m off to resurrect my axe. Have a great one. See ya!

Now I’m trying to actually learn how to do it right. I must say the yardstick of life hit home hard. May you an your family be blessed in all you do. Now to turn on another video an learn a lesson.
