I’ve been vegan for more than 16 years. And I've told you before, my tastebuds are happy, my body is happy, and I feel like my diet is one of abundance, not one of lack. So what exactly do I eat on an everyday every-week basis, and why do I choose to eat just that.
I talk about:
- what i eat in a day
- what i eat in a week
- my breakfast
- the best green tea
- my diet
- eating congee every day
- the importance of dark greens
- raw vegetables
- nuts and dried fruit

This video should be called 'what david cooks for me'!
Kinda want to see you do the cooking of said foods now. I think the way you guys eat is quite unique, and I think many of us would love to see how it's made and if it takes long or not.
😂
@@nikedoesthings I second this!
Perfection. My diet is what my husband cooks for me as well!
Haha so cute🥰
Yes please more videos about food! Also would love some recipes, I’m also a vegan but I don’t eat that good (lots of processed and sugar…). Would love to crave broccoli and snack on berries!
Yess, I wanted to comment, but just this!
Her channel started out as vegan recipes and they were absolutely fabulous. I miss them so much. I wish she would repost them.
Will do!!
@@JennyMustard do you still have your raw key lime pie? I used to make it from the video and never wrote it down. 😭
Yes! I would love to try the recipies! Are you considering publishing another cook book?
Can you please share your congee and soup recipes? It all looks delicious. Thank you!
"Mary's test kitchen" has a great starter recipe for congee - you can find it online...
@@jodpigbass5904Thank you!
Great video I don't eat tofu, as I'm allergic, but very similar to you, love huge crunchy salad with a cup of pasta with dijon mustard., lentils are great any colour and love jasmine green tea, also do cereley and apple juice, and beetroot and apple ginger juice.
i don't eat as healthily as you but i was shocked by how my taste buds have changed through the years..... who knew i would be craving roasted brocolli with lemon, roasted curry cauliflower, kale chips, sauteed spinach with garlic.. drooollll You should definitely do more food videos jenny! it was your food and minimalism videos that first caught my attention!
completely agree about the tastebuds.
Same here! Burned through some different emails, but your soya milk milking video YEARs ago is what brought me to your channel :)
It’s not just the food, it’s the mood and aesthetics that keep me coming back ❤
thanks for watching!
Fermented tofu or 腐乳 comes from my hometown Kaiping in Guangdong. I go back every few years and haul BOXES of the original stuff back to Hong Kong every time. I’m so glad you love this condiment too, all the way in London by a Swedish girl! If you have a chance, look for the bottle that says 廣合腐乳 in red and white labelled glass jars. That brand is my favourite!
Fermented tofu made it all the way to Romania were I get to enjoy it. I only fin the brand Lao Gan Ma here, but it does the job ^^
oooh, thanks for the suggestion.
I've been told by a friend who is a food scientist that eating sugar in small amounts (like in hot sauce) is absolutely fine if paired with other foods that are rich in fibre, like veggies and noodles. It won't spike your blood sugar. I would't worry so much about the tiny amount of sugar in hot sauce or other condiments personally.
I understand what you are saying. At the same time me too in my case I became sugar aware and very precise about it, as its also a big influence on the taste. With graving for bitter tastes or being used to eat very high-quality-veggies I don t like the taste of sugared things as much as before and I feel also too big amounts in processed foods or sauces. For example I prefer the Aceton Balsamico which is not suggared much more and find it more quality tasting and yummy. My taste-receptors changed a lot and as sugar comes everywhere (also in fruits and via digesting corn and bred etc.) I avoid industrial sugar or even organic ones ( "Agave, Raw sugar-also not healthy" ) it where I can. If I want sweet, i prefer eating a proper piece of cake or a chocolate.
Vegan of 10 years here - we eat in a very similar way! Your congee recipe is one of the staples in our household so please keep them coming! Btw, I don't think you have to be too worried about the sugar in the hot sauce, especially since your meals seem to be extremely high in fibre which is known to prevent glucose spikes. Most dieticians recommend the 80/20 rule where 80% of your diet is whole foods and 20% is relaxed/treat-y. So there is definitely lots of space for sugary hot sauce in a healthy, balanced diet. However, my personal favourite replacement for sriracha is homemade chilli oil - just half a teaspoon mixed into a salad dressing will make anything delicious 🤤
Your tea pot/cups is heavenly! The way you romanize your food, really inspires me. Your whole life looks so romantic 🙂↔️
Thank you!! 😊
I just came off a video of yet another one of my favourite KZheadrs announcing they're no longer vegan... and yours popped up next - I never clicked so fast! All that is to say - yes, please keep up the food vids! We appreciate you
I would love to see how you make your soup and congee! Thank you!
I'm currently trying to change my diet after a health scare, and hearing you speak with so much passion about your meals is really helping me to get into the right mindset to eat healthily 😊
I'm also Team Sencha. My husband and I also eat Whole Food Plant Based. We have the same routines of meals every day! Oatmeal with fresh fruit and cacaopowder flaxseed for breakfast, lentils-curry with cruciferous veggies, sprouted mungbeans, ACV, soy chunks, nuts and seeds and raw cabbage, and dinner will be a starchy veg and/or a whole grain cooked / beans/lentils, with tofu, some nuts, and lots of vegetables, and for desert soy yoghurt with fresh fruit and wheat-germ, with some almonds or walnuts. We use a lot of condiments, and we make Indonesian, Surinam, Indian, South-American and South-European dishes, and it's NEVER boring.
AGREED. i can eat a whole block of tofu, sliced and panfried, s&p and organic garlic powder. viola! dinner is served. love y'all.
agreed!
I can eat a whole block of raw tofu with some seasonings, easily. Haven't done that in a while as tofu has gotten pricy and I prefer warm foods in winter (aka bean stews❤) but this reminded me of how much I love tofu.
I used to do this also until I found myself going #2 four or five times a day. My doctor tested me and found I was eating WAY too much tofu. I cut it out and became normal again, Now I can eat a little at a time. Just thought I'd share my experience. I've been a vegetarian (I eat eggs) for over 50 years.
The presentation of your food is like art, so beautiful
I've been following you forever! I found you when I started going vegan, 2011. I loved all your food styling and regret not getting your cookbook. Thank you for all your help and inspiration on keeping me on the straight and narrow. I love this eating style and so happy to see all your food content. BTW I make my own sriracha, worth the effort. I am forever in your debt, thanks!
♥️♥️♥️!
Never in my life would I (Chinese) have expected someone to use fermented tofu as a dip! I love it!
I eat very similar the way you do: mainly raw and definitely whole food plant-based. (Except the alcohol, I don't drink at all.) Eating this way satisfies and energizes me enough. I am really picky, my plate has to look colorful every time (at least 5 different colors) :D It's not just delicious but it cured all my health problems I had before (12 years ago. That's when I turned vegan overnight after watching Earthlings.) Love your videos (and you two) :)
Earthlings ❤
I loved this video Jenny! I was vegan for 6 and a half years and then went back to being vegetarian when I went into eating disorder recovery. I really love the flexibility and convenience I have being vegetarian (eating out, eating with friends, etc) so that's been great. But this winter I've been working so so much and not made the healthiest choices with food and I can feel it in my body and energy levels. I've been wanting to get back to some gentle nutrition with healthy eating and you have just inspired me to eat more spinach and beans! I really love the way you talk about food and lifestyle, so peaceful and balanced. Thanks for your great videos, as always and I would LOVE to see some more food videos!
I can relate, I was vegan for 5 years and also went vegetarian for eating disorder recovery. Right now, I'm back to eating plant based with the exception of plain Greek yogurt to boost my protein intake and get some probiotics. I do feel conflicted about the yogurt from an ethics perspective, so I'm not sure where I'll go with this in the future. Wishing you all the best and hope you can feel happy and free and free around food🌞
Glad to see this video, I’ve always loved your food content and noticed you’d taken all of the food related videos down. I find them very inspiring and relaxing ❤
hi Jenny! I fell in love with your original food videos, sooo good still. ❤ Would absolutely love to have your cookbook reissued in English!
We need a seasoning masterclass from you!
I would love to see any and all food content you feel like making!!! Specific recipes for your congee and soup broth included, even if something is very simple it can reflect years of experimentation. I'm transitioning to a more plant-based diet, but struggle with balancing the necessity of deliciousness/variety with an aversion towards complex recipes and spending a lot of time preparing food. I also find it very relaxing and inspiring to watch content about healthy, beautiful, ethical, tasty food, even if I don't necessarily learn anything new from it.
I’ve been Whole Foods plant based for about six years now. Your tastes really do change! I CRAVE cauliflower ALL the time. Fresh, whole, and simple is such a good and easy way to live. There are plenty of times I eat the same dinner several nights in a row but I never feel limited! I just recently started putting roasted potatoes on my kale salads and it’s a game changer! Something really delicious to dip veggies in is white beans puréed with a little veggie broth. You can season it a lot of different ways depending on what spices you mix it. We found a vegan ranch seasoning powder that tastes incredible mixed in!
Jenny Mustard, I aspire to eat as you do, and YES! I love food blog vids 💚
mushrooms are a must! they can get expensive but I never regret it
Yes I was going to say, I must have some mushrooms in my week :)
amazing vid!!! yessssss please do a recipe video - or fully show how you prepare these foods and put them all together
Would you ever consider doing a cooking video? I’d love to see how you make the soup and congee
same! That congee looks simple yet so amazing
YES PLEASE - some exact recipes are highly requested!
Thank you Jenny, this is very helpful and filled with great, inspiring suggestions.
Hey Jenny, yes, i'd like some more videos about food. I was hoping for such a video, thank you.
We need the recipies, Jenny!! Pleeeeeease 🙏🏻
yessss
My biggest barrier to eating this way is the preparation. When I'm not working from home trying to eat so many fresh veggies becomes sad as a lunch
SOUNDS SO PERFECT to me!
Thank you 1000x for this video!
I'm not vegan but this so helpful as I'm researching an anti-inflammatory diet ❤
am in my eight year of living on my own and creating proper eating habits is the most difficult challenge, haven't figured out how to hack my neuro wiring beneficially. watching J&D's videos for years and they are satisfying, aesthetically pleasing and a tru awe-maze. may i find the self-love to come through for my self like this! i will try out a congə this week.
Ooh please more food videos! This was so inspiring
I need to finally try the congee! As someone who wants to eat less processed foods, your way of eating inspires me to eat better. Thank you for sharing this 🤍
I love your food/meal videos, are your older food videos up anywhere? They were so inspiring & beautifully done. Thank you for sharing.🌺
Wow ! Sounds like the perfect diet to me ! Would love some recipes ideas, more detailed. The "everyday" ones 🙏🏻🥰
Jenny, I really must say, I discovered you around 2 weeks ago, and I could not be happier. I am 23 and in a transition period of my life into a more calm adult life full of abundance and consciousness of my needs and wants and taking responsibility for my choices. You made me fall in love again with the diet I also chose 6,5 years ago. With all the new vegan options arising, my diet contained a lot of processed foods lately. I am looking forward to being inspired by you and learning from your perspective of life in the future. Thank you for your content! ✨️
Inspired to make changes towards yours vegan suggestions! Thanks for the “tasty” language of yours and by the way, I love sun-dried tomato avocado pairing ; )
Thank you! This video is so inspiring. Please make more food videos. I am currently transitioning my family to a whole food plant based diet and I find it challenging to get excited for the meals and recipes I find. However, your videos and food are photographed so beautifully everything looks delicious and I cannot wait to make a healthy meal! Thank you!!!
Voilà. You got me craving for greens (including green tea). Well done! ❤
i’ve been way too depressed to cook a lot or eat healthily during the last year but at the moment i’m starting to enjoy cooking and trying out new recipes again! i have been noticing how much better i feel just from that, which makes me want to cook even more haha. and you’re right, beluga lentils are so good!! i’ve been randomly craving them and spinach ever since i was a child every now and then, my parents were often amused bc my brother wanted to eat sweets instead, most of the time.
So happy for you :) onwards and upwards !
@@georgiaperisanidis thank you 💖
Honestly the way you eat sounds heavenly to me 💚 I do have to eat out a lot because of my job, but eveytime I come back home all I want to do is cook a noodle soup filled with greens, oh and I do love some homemade guacamole! Thnaks for sharing this, it was very inspiring and also made me really hungry :)
Thanks Jenny Mustard!
Sounds beautiful and your videography is so gorgeous that's it's irresistible. Thanks for the suggestion for the fermented tofu. I bought it and then didn't know how to use it!
The congee is very similar to an Indian dish called khichdi! Khichdi includes extra spices, and you can include extra veggies, too. Highly recommend!
That sounds delicious!! I’ve been vegan for 10 years and still learned some new ideas from this video. Thanks
I’ve been plant based seven years now! Vegetarian since I was 17( 51 now) women’s bodies go through so many changes at my age. The weight gain is no joke! So really trying hard to give up my sugar cravings. I look forward to my big salad every day for lunch:)
We loved this video! Where is your tea pot from? Thanks!🌱🫖💕💓
Loved the video and just ordered some Ritual vitamins for my daughter and I. Would love to know all the ingredients you add in those salads - actually it would be amazing to see a video of you and David cooking your dinner together! ❤️
The one ingredient that I consistently eat pretty much every day for honestly all my life is oats. (the bigger ones, not the ones that turn to mush super quickly. Every morning I look forward to combining oats with usually a bit of protein powder, cocoa powder and milled linseeds and I never get bored of it. Love it as a snack in between as well and whenever my stomach feels kinda off, some oats with a little honey and warm water usually does the trick.
Have you tried adding sprouted mustard seeds to your meals. Delicious, so fresh and only takes about 5 days to sprout. More food videos please.
These all look so good!!!
Thanks for this video 😊
Enjoyed these specifics. Would love to taste your (David’s) prepared foods! 😊
There are so many options with a whole food plant-based diet. I like to keep it simple during the week and maybe make some thing A little more time consuming on the weekend. I usually go for Raw salads etc. during the day and then a soup or stirfry in the evening. I often make a Mexican inspired bowl with sweet potatoes or rice and beans with lots of toppings and sauces. Agree that berries are wonderful.Usually a snack for me is a shake made from plant milk beans and cocoa powder and a date for sweetness. Love your videos
Loved loved loved this video of yours! It reminds me of when you used to make these food videos years ago 🤩
Wow, what a great video! I would love one on how you make this delicious looking soup
The food coma in the morning is too relatable 😅 As someone who lifts weights, I'm inclined to consume calorie rich meals, but I've been noticing that having a big breakfast has been really messing with my productivity (brain fog and drowsiness). Now since I've been fasting, my mornings feel ALOT better, and I feel more motivated to get stuff done 💯
Omg can we get a tea video? I would like to see tea combinations and blends!!
I would love your congee recipe ❤️
Yes! 🙌
I never really ate salads during the winter months, but this year I've been having a salad at least 4-6 times a werk and I feel SO much better. I still eat meat but not a whole lot, I prefer my veggies! I also reduced my sugar intake by about 75% and I feel great!!!
16 years 🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏
I love the recipes in your first book Jenny ❤ (Simple Matters). Definitely an interesting video 😊 I would love to see more.
I’ve been vegan 14 years❤. 😊
Loved this video, gave me some new ideas for food 😊
Jenny, I love your style ❤️I would love to see the recipe for the Noodle soup & Congee. Thanks for the beautiful video and inspiration ❤
Your food videos are my favorite
We’re always up for Jenny Mustard food videos! However, this video is all about keeping things simple, and there are only so many ways we can wax romantic about congee and dark, leafy greens. Ultimately, make whatever content you like! I first came for the food and minimalism videos, but I stayed for the top-notch vibes 🥂
You don't have to talk it down like this, it sounds extremely appetising and it is overall very inspirational! Me and my husband try to follow a somewhat similar vegan diet, although we definitely eat some more processed sweets or other snacks! But after seeing this beautiful video we'll try to work on that, too! Thank you and I would definitely welcome more food related content from you!
I've been vegan 8 years and I just found your channel ❤ love it.
Welcome!!
Yes, please, videos on condiments and combinations ❤
Hi, your video is an inspiration. What kind of broths do you use for your soups?
This looks heavenly!
I would love a video about all your soup's receipes 😍
Please share your congee recipe… I have also before and would love to get infos! You gutsy are awesome!
So appreciate the fermented tofu callout! Growing up we ate this on bread (think fluffy bao bread) or my personal fave as the seasoning for sauteed veg (iceberg lettuce the preferred veg, if you haven't eaten it all raw first!). Delish!
I eat almost the same. I started back in 2016 and it’s alleviated so many health issues. I love it and will never go back to being an omnivore.
Your foods look amazing! I love to eat wfpb bowls, for breakfast with oatmeal and fruits, with some toppings, for lunch and dinner with lots of different veggies, beans etc. How more colors, the better. And yessss, more food videos please!
Beautiful video with tasty recipes 😍 As a nutritionist, I am curious to why you are so aware of sweeteners/sugars?
Jenny, where is your beautiful tea pot from? I really feel like it would help me embrace a better tea drinking habit!
It’s from Mono :)
Yum I already had my smoothie and papaya but after this I made some carrot lentil soup and I’m baking tofu broccoli and mushrooms now
Wow everything looks sooooo good 🤩 I really want to explore more that type of food because I’m always looking for this on the street (because I don’t like to cook) but of course, not every place taste good so it’s pretty difficult, so I do understand why you love to eat at home. I think I just have to start doing it at home at least 2-3 times per week and go from there
Hey Jenny, I love the way you eat and that actually could be my ideal diet, simple ,whole plant based and nutritious . I eat very similar although more complicated recipes every day but I think it is very liberating to not worry about different menu every day. my fave veggies are broccoli, courgette, artichoke and greens like kale and chard. I love berries, tofu, chickpeas and my favourite dish is veggie, greens and smoked tofu fried rice. I am going to try congee for sure...
Love your channel! I love tofu but could use some ideas to use it for breakfast...❤
I made congee for the first time after seeing it on your channel. My favorite topping is oyster mushroom “bulgogi” which is just sautéed mushrooms with some bulgogi sauce and chili oil. So good!
Thanks for sharing this Jenny! All sounds so delicious to me ❤. I'm also a whole food plantbased vegan (since 10 years) and love kale and other dark greens as well as tofu😍. My go to lunch every day is a VERY big green smoothe with lots of bananas, different fruits like mango,, berries and kale/spinnach/mixed greens etc. So sweet, yummy, filling and good for you. Yes, please share more about your food and cooking. Warm greetings from Stockholm! ❤
My go to must always have is definitely avocado!! Thank you for this rice lentil porridge idea. I am having it just know with arugula ⭐️
Loved the video :)
Thank you for this! I think everyone, whether they follow a vegan diet or not, should aim to increase the proportion and volume of fresh veggies in their diet - most of us don’t get anywhere near enough! I try, and get there about 70% of the time 😄 Also berries 😍 ps I can’t handle any spice, but Frank’s hot sauce doesn’t have sugar and everyone I know loves it for its flavour.
Great video as always. I think I would also enjoy a few videos where you and David make meals. They look so good and I would love to know the recipes and how to cook them. Anyone else agrees tap like please.
Hi Jenny :) Could you share the recipes? I would love to recreate them
What dressings do you put on you salads please, is there a brand you buy or do you make your own ? Thankyou
Your "what I eat" sounds wonderful and like what I aspire to get to! I love whole food and plant based foods sooo much! They are literally the best. I honestly cannot stand fast food or ultra processed foods. I also really want to cut meat completely as I don't like it nor do I eat it often, but my doctors and family keep encouraging me to eat it because of the lovely deficiencies, which I hate 110%. (I saw another comment about how you should make more food/ vegan related videos, and I have to say that I agree!)
Love this video Jenny! Really good food inspiration 🙌🏻 For a chilli sauce I really recommend Batch One hot sauce from the Peckham Sauce Co in London 🌶️
