Genuinely skilled fighters and a great fight. I've watched a lot of female fighters that were thrown into the lions den against far superior competition This fight nailed it.
Both fighters were very calm individuals. Both fighters have great cardio. Julie, a good sportsman. Smiled at the end of round 1.
Nice match. Hope they rematch. Very close. Would like to see the stats on a spreadsheet and a deep fight analysis and score breakdown.

That was close, great fight, both winners because I was already Olsim fan but also mezabarba
Mezabarba is very well balanced, moves in and out well and has great striking. Needs to carry the fight to the opponent more.

great fight, both had good stand up, olsim landed alot of punches and kicks, same with julie. very exciting fight. great female athletes. they really brought it professionally.

To put it simply Mezeberba did counter, but the truth is its all about the fighter who spices up the fight. Olsim was the agressor even though she was being countered most of the time, but the takedowns and ground control made Olsim the split winner.

When you are sitting with your back against the wire with your opponent's head locked up i would think you are are in the dominate position.
Not really, because she wasn’t doing anything except from trapping her head, which wasn’t threatening.. she wasn’t doing enough

Don't think so. She did a good job eating up the clock. That leg triangle has to be frustrating. If it had all been stand-up I think Julie might have taken it with more inside punches, something she needs to work on. Excellent fight. Thanks for the post, OP.

I really confused about olsim MMA division, she's include at the top 5 contender in strawweight division but she fight in atomweight division in many times.. But don't mind it 🙏, she's really good fighter.

Sure she got the takedowns, but couldn't do ANYTHING WITH IT EVER. She held until she eventually popped up every time. So i DO NOT see how that scored on the score cards, no ground n pound, no advancing position, she lost this fight. MEZ won this in my eyes.
When you put it that way it sounds right but getting the take down counts for a lot as long as you stay on top. Neither of them had much of a ground game and striking was about even. The deciding factor was who initiated the takedown and ended up on top.
If you think about it from the perspective of the fighters; it has to be totally worrisome considering that each judge can have/ or has different criteria for judging the fight and you don't necessarily know how each one thinks. So during the fight you (the fighter) would have to be worried about how the scoring is being done. Open scoring should be more of a thing. that way they at least know after each round what they need to adapt to or modify to win. Instead of worrying if they are doing enough of this, or are they doing too much of that, or even if the opponent is doing enough of something to be winning. It has to be totally distracting considering you always hear that damage trumps all. When in this fight where the damage dealt didn't win. In a fight that was pretty convincing in my opinion, so it's just pretty upsetting considering that somebody's entire career can get derailed because one judge decides he wants to be special, or different from everybody else there's a clear set of rules and it should be followed to a T. That way each fighter knows exactly what the criteria consists of and how it's going to be scored.

How? They both landed. The takedowns and control time were the most significant actions of the fight.
@@theymademepickaname1248 yes they both landed. Jenelyn also had some good striking highlights but mezabarba controlled the fight most of the time.

Idk how ppl think mezabarba won, olsim obviously won striking points and is the only one that made takedown, then on the ground she controlled, yall crazy, mezabarba had a few good shots in the third round then lost a full minute of ground points and even then she had already lost two rounds
