The amount of fake Russia propaganda accounts commenting on this video is staggering and interesting. Most of them has , and they like each other comments so they stay on top. This could use some investigative journalism of how and who is making these accounts.

    • @WillyOAM i could see the struggle on your face with this one buddy. The western countries have essentially accepted that Ukraine has lost the war. The only country that has the ability to send money is the US, but even if they could (public doesn’t want to and it’s an election year) then where would Ukraine purchase enough quantities of munitions? The fact is that Zelenskyy is struggling to maintain power and once negotiations , ceasefire, happens in earnest, he will likely be replaced. If Ukraine does not push hard for a ceasefire and talks then Russia actually has a chance to cut Ukraine off from the Black Sea by 2025 (which would be devastating as we both know Russia will not be giving any land back). Russia doesn’t want western Ukraine since it would be impossible to police it, and the guerrilla warfare would be chaos for them (assuming Russia even makes it that far in the future). Ukraine is unfortunately losing on every front, manpower, ammo, morale, money to pay troops and their huge interest payment of debt. Russia is now in a war economy and flush with manpower and building up supplies for their offensive, but the biggest thing for Russia right now is that the politicians and good portion of the public are outraged over the concert hall attack and they want to punish someone for it (Morale high ground in their mind, like the US after 9/11). I’m sure I’ll get called a Russian bot just like I am called a Ukrainian bot on the Russia biased channels I watch lol. The truth hurts but it’s easy to see through the BS on this one bud, I hope Ukrainian government stops thinking about lost land and free money and starts thinking of its citizens. The final tallies when this war is over is going to be really sad on all sides.

    • As Zelensky's term comes to a close, and the real possibility of losing Kharkiv, Odessa, Kherson, and Mikolaev oblasts approaches nearer and nearer in time, Ukrainians everywhere who want peace and an end to the carnage, and to salvage those endangered oblasts, should call for the reinstatement of President Yanukovych, the only leader BOTH sides can trust to preside over a neutral Ukraine, his record of neutrality proves it (it was a pretext for the revolutionary coup).

He is more than welcome to take any position he likes, and I wouldn't expect him to be free of his own personal biases, no one really is. I still check in on him from time and time and happy to listen to the man, even if I don't agree with his position, because he doesn't have that unpalatable odor of absolute bullshit like government officials or MSM rats. Plus guys like him can provide a conduit for cross-pollination if they manage to attract people from multiple sides. I rarely listen to NAFO apologists because I just don't have the stomach. They give me indigestion. It's a sad, sorry world when you're happy to listen to someone else who you don't entirely agree with purely because they don't make you ill. It would mean Ukraine is really hurting for ammo and men and Russia having air superiority has been brutal for the Ukrainian forces. The 60 billion from the US is not happening due to US public not wanting it on either side. The US public wants the war to end with negotiations before Ukraine loses more land , only US political system wants to send the money but the elections are coming so I really doubt any aid package will get passed. So countries could legislate that Russian assets or their revenues can be confiscated and expropriated. The legality under international law is murky ... we are perfectly happy to apply international law in a way that suits our interest. Be it supporting possible war crimes by a close ally in the Near East or refraining from complying with international law or by simply not recognizing certain rules of the international law if the are not in our favour. IF we really want to uphold the rule of international law, we don't need a "rules based order" (= we make the rules, others have to comply) but a "law based order". With international law that has the same power over Nauru like it has over the United States of America. I for one am in favour of the unrestricted rule of international law.

As long as it is in accordance with international law. What can be considered 'international law' is either determined by treaties or by acknowledgement of the majority of the UN members. If such law would be enforced regardless of the status of a country, the world would be a better place. An if you ask: Yes. The Russian Federation has broken international law by invading Ukraine. • One thing people may be over looking here, is, the kind of equipment you want to acquire, is reflective of the types of military conflicts you fight. In the West, for the last 60 years or so, we've primarily fought massive over match, one sided wars against developing nations and rebel groups. In this space, Western equipment doctrine has been fine. Why? It tends to save lives, because the enemy forces often do not have the capability to destroy these weapon systems reliably, or at all. An M1A2 Abrams is a phenomenal tank, when the guys you are fighting might have one RPG-29, for every 10,000 RPG-7s they have. The extra cost, means that tank is very secure against those old weapons. The dynamic changes though, when you're fighting a peer conflict. Cheap, reliable, mass producible, and 'good enough' is what wins big wars. The irony here is, Russia in the last decade, has begun moving towards a more western materiel acquisition doctrine. When you're fighting farmers and shepherds with AKs, maximizing casualty reductions are a worthwhile way to spend your defense budget. When you're fighting a nation that can fire 10,000 to 100,000 artillery shells in a day. Well. You need mass yourself, or you just get drowned in enemy ass.

    • You are correct , at least I think I understand what you’re saying . Russia does have more advanced tanks etc . T92’s I think . But I read that they are mass producing t72’s with updated tracking systems and radar . To the tune of 3 a day , 100 a month , and they get sent to Ukraine . The t92’s are saved for certain things but the main warfare comes from the more ready available t72’s . I might be wrong , but Russia is doing exactly what you said wins wars . USA did it in world war 2 with their tank, 1v1 it was at a disadvantage to the panther or tiger tanks , but having ten times the amount and having more mobility gave them the upper hand . 6to1 now means not a problem

Throwing 100k shells at a western army would look entirely different with the complete western military apparatus in its back pocket to utilise. The russian military has always been similar in comparison to western material though, it's not called an arm's race for no reason. What's become entirely evident though is just how impotent their whole military complex truly is. From troops to machinery they've successfully bluffed the world these past 30 corrupt years.

The value of Ukraine to them is only in its ability to provide cheap cannon fodder equipped using local resources. The main objective is to inflict as much damage to the infrastructure, economy and population of the region as possible to ensure that A) The EU has a permanent problem on their eastern flank and thanks to the echo chamber politicians in charge will be forced to continuously funnel large resources into defense and B) that Russia even if or when it absorbs Ukraine will be stuck with the massive financial burden of restoring the absorbed territories and fighting scattered insurgencies. • The whole sanction thing is as stupid as it gets. Russia & China are deep allies, and China is under pressure to be independent from anything in the west - they actively develop their own High Tech, and they make some amazingly interesting progress there. All those sanctions do is push the non-west aligned countries further into independence. Also, the west is amazingly nice into destroying trust into them - the whole "somehow but not really stealing Russian assets" is as stupid as it gets. In particular the "let's just freeze them, then use them as guarantees for bonds and Russia will once it loses agree to use them to pay the bonds". First, Russia is not losing. But more importantly: Any court will be mad once it stops laughing. Theft by law is theft, and the whole bond thing is an obvious attempt to work around the laws. EuroClear is likely bankrupt if they even pay out the interest because the idea that the interest "is not really owned by Russia" is another legal clusterf* - if I own the assets, I also have the rights to the proceeds of the assets. You are also extremely right on the cheap russian weapons. Mass manufacturing has a quality of it's own and while the west looks to the most complicated solution - it seems Russia is looking for the most (cost) effective. And it is not just cost - Ukraine is repeatedly complaining about maintenance issues while Russian "primitive" weapons seem to be better for field use. The west has forgotten how to wage a war that is intense, instead having gone for the most "compact" form of weapons, which somehow cost a LOT. Russia, SUPPOSEDLY, did the same - The T14 Armata is back to the drawing board because they realized that it is too fragile and - cough - not efficient in costs. Gratulations to Ukraine here for all their ad hoc cheap and innovative weapons - now, Russia will replicate most, better, cheaper, mass produced - but Ukraine is responsible to change the face of war. Drones, "remote controlled" torpedo ships. Noone saw this coming and they are VERY cost efficient. Everyone laughs are Russia for loosing ships in the Black Sea fleet. Idiots - every navy would have those losses, those are totally new ways to wage naval war and man, they are like torpedoes originally: navies have no idea how to handle them. The only reason the US is not getting losses is the lack of ships close to an enemy.

However, from the beginning it has been overwhelmingly a land war and the black sea fleet never had the necessary resources to seriously participate - a landing operation in or around Odessa would only be viable in the event of a total Ukrainian collapse. Downsides are obvious to this: limited range and maneuver. But the upside is - no jamming possible. So, if you are near the combat zone, it is very useful. Now, the west likes expensive, flashy toys. However, manufacturing these requires a lot of time and resources and losin one is a massive loss! If you invest in something less complicated on the other hand, you will have the asset to continue fighting, even when the enemy is down to scraping the bottom of the barrel. As for mobilization - when an average Ukrainian sees graveyards being filled up, losing parts of Ukraine regularly and at the same time hearing that they are winning... Seems hard to find people to fight in such a war...

  • Willy finally reached the answer. The problem was always the another N word: Numbers Numbers provided redundancy. In war things gets used and gets destroyed. The higher tech and cost of a system inevitably reduces the number available. A 6k western made artillery is most likely superior than a $600 Russian made one, but you can do a lot more with 10 cheaper shells. Technology and tactics will only get you so far, at the end even the most advanced weapons still need the numbers to make the difference. The technological advantage of the west isn’t as much of a unreachable gap as people believe. Even air superiority requires numbers. During the first gulf war, the US coalition enjoyed overwhelming numerical advantage of their combined Air Force. Unless NATO is willing to commit a good portion of it’s Air Force, there’s little chance to match the Numbers with superiority technology.

    @anotherbacklog@anotherbacklogАй бұрын

    • Also doesn’t help that the west became dangerously complacent and weak. Not specifically America either. Though, as a US citizen, our government has become incredibly corrupt and inefficient. That said, America doesn’t have too much of a horse in this fight imho as we aren’t in danger of being overrun in the same way as Poland and the Baltics. We, meaning the US, should’ve pushed contingents east years ago into Poland, Lithuania, and Finland. War has shown so far that Russia doesn’t have the capability to make a real crack against Europe though. At least not with the US and our abundance of stealth aircraft. But the US also has problems over Taiwan. For the US, I think Ukraine is a very bloody side-show that was a waste of our resources. We succeeded in merely increasing the body count and having Russia waste steel and gas. Neither Ukraine or Russia has shown any capability to go on the offensive properly. Either from lack of assets or a lack of strategy. Sorry for rambling.

      @Thrainite@ThrainiteАй бұрын
    • @@ThrainiteDon't worry about rambling. Anyway FWIW my perspective is that NATO provoked the war by not only continuing to exist after Warsaw Pact disbanded but by expanding relentlessly eastward and seducing Kyiv to join so it appears we disagree on that. Agree about the inability of Russia to beat the West plus huge waste of men and resources in this war so two out of three ain't bad. Cheers!

      @jonshive5482@jonshive5482Ай бұрын
    • @@jonshive5482 I tacitly agree on the first point. NATO is/was pointless. But I will say the west is complacent. They kept on believing the US would solve all their external problems and not have to actually put in effort to achieve their own geopolitical goals. Hell, for the last 10 years I've said that Germany, England, and France, are old news. The US should have forged deep relationships with Poland, Lithuania, and Finland, since they actually have a backbone and are willing to maintain the peace by preparing for war. Leave decadent western Europeans to wither as they will. It would've been better for everyone if America and Russia had established proper spheres for a balance of power like after Napoleon. It wasn't ten years ago when that news article came out regarding the German Air Force where they have maybe 10 air-worthy combat aircraft out of 70. That is with an economy larger than all of Russia! Victory defeated Europe after the wall fell. lol But I think Russia will win this war and the claims of their losses are greatly exaggerated. I think the cost in lives isn't anything to shirk, but I'd wager it is typical of the losses that would be expected when both sides have armor, anti-air, and ISR. To be fair, the west obviously had no strategy either. The fact that years down the road of this war they failed to enforce a system of basic military training is telling. Soldier X claimed a lot of conscripts are still filtering in with maybe two weeks of training. It is pitiful. Takes at least 5 to 6 months for your average US or Russian to complete training and get to their first unit. They're really throwing away a lot of valuable lives. Combat troops cannot be replaced like rifles. German, Russia, and America, learned that the hard way 75 years ago after all.

(So does Ukraine, which makes me wonder if they really know they're getting into should they win; perhaps some of them hate Russia so much they'll do anything to avoid being under their power.) It's a fine mess we've got on our hands.

    • Russia attacks using very, very small squads... to small for Arty... and only after the Ukrainians have been softened up. If these attacks fail, its because Ukraine has fed more meat into the grinder for stand off weapons... Its not Russia taking heavy loses.

  • Willy, you seem to position yourself as an expert, but in the video in a Tonenke one you are not at all confused by the lying snow. The temperature there is +25C today, and there has been no snow for a long time.
