    • Last year in a beach dz i exited last and suddenly i was like in a sandwich with a bed of clouds up of my head and another bed of clouds below, it was an rare sensation, then passing the clouds below me i pull and i realize i was in the middle of the ocean, the beach was so far and i could only see vegetation and mangroves. Well i just say for my self, ok, this is a long and bad spot, pull that toggles to your belly and do your best to get in that little piece of beach over there. Fortunately i was able to get the little beach and there was some kids, i dont know from where they out, this was in Honduras and this kids just looked at me with amazement just like if an astronaut had just arrived from the space and that was the funny moment of that jump. I think it waa worth it just for that, talk with those kids and give them the chance to touch a real parachute, they where happy :D

    • The "old days" (late 70s) I became very proficient on spotting; even the square jumpers were asking me to spot for their loads. Having to consider lowers, crosswinds and uppers made for some interesting physics. I jumped a PC for a while, then a StarLite, never landed outside the PEAS!☢

  • @SkydiveVibes I had two jumps this past weekend and on my second jump we decided to do a go around as I kneeled at the door. Upon completing the go around I stuck my head out the door and wasn't comfortable with the spot as it was a little to far downwind than I wanted. The jumpers behind me were yelling for me to go so reluctantly I went. It worked out ok but I was in able to perform any canopy work and had to fly straight in to the DZ. I did make a pattern landing but just! Lesson learned! Blue Skies

However I really appreciate the info and video as finally someone explained in detail what and how to do it...when I did my first hop and pop I was quite nervous and asked some guys and they just said look for the DZ if you see it ok and jump...literally 2 sentences...

  • The last jump I did about a week ago, on the very first Cessna load, some freshly A licensed jumpers did the spotting, and we all ended up landing off. I landed in a tree because I realized too late I wouldn’t make it back to the DZ, and that DZ doesn’t have very many outs.

  • Ended up in a weird situation this weekend and wanted to come back to your videos for the usual, great advice. So...jump 35, cloudy day, 20mph winds from 3000 to 1500ft that made me work to have a good landing pattern, and was first out with 3 tandems with camera people behind me. One TI/camera person spotted with me. I couldn't see any part of the DZ nor enough surrounding area to be sure I knew where we were. I signaled that to them (pointed at my eyes and shook my head) and made second run sign to them with a questioning face (to see if we should ask for a second pass) but all of a sudden heard the TIs saying to move out of the way. I move to the back of the plane, thinking they wanted me to move back from the door so we could turn for the second pass. Next thing I know, all 3 tandems went out the door and I was the only one left on the airplane, riding it down. Do I regret my decision? No. I couldn't see enough to be comfortable. Was it a weird situation? Hell ya. A senior person said that I should just move out of the way if I'm not sure but, like you said at 7:40, I need to figure out how requests for second runs work (e.g. Who can request it? When?)

  • Thanks for this. To be honest tho, a good pilot makes it to where you don't even need to spot (I always spot and am not saying not to) but the green light goes on at the best beginning there could be for jump run and everyone is out way before they get even close to 'too far'. Every time I've looked down, we were right where we needed to be. Still don't jump without my own confirmation but that's how easy a pilot should make it. :)

  • Hi thanks a lot I have several questions all about wingsuiting from cliffs How should I think considering about the wind when I'm jumping from a rocky cliff?.. not from a plane!.. Can I select a cliff I like without Instructors consultations, depending on KZhead informative videos? How to gain the wingsuiting maximum earth horizontal distance? What if I want to do just only the wingsuiting without parachute?.. Is it possible if I'll drop in sea water, then the water will absorb the landing force? More questions would I ask later.. Thanks a lot for now dear and best regards Cheers

  • I've watched a few of your videos now and find them to be very informative. The one thing I would ask is that you use more visual aides. An aerial view of the drop zone for spotting as an example..

  • First jump I did at a different dropzone. I was doing a solo student jump and the pilot went into jump run the same way he had been 4 hours beforehand on the first loads of the day even though the wind direction had changed 180. Over half of the students didn't make it back because of that and because a four way group requesting more separation than usual with no instructors on the plane to tell the students they could request another pass.

    • Oh no! I hope that you guys all learned from that. Were you aware of the change of winds before jumping?

      @SkydiveVibes@SkydiveVibes4 жыл бұрын
    • @@SkydiveVibes As jumpers we were because that's what we were briefed however the pilot did not seem to be aware except for ground speed. Rear risers and a nice long track saved me there, would've pulled high but there was a wing suiter behind us who specifically asked if we were pulling high so i decided I'd rather risk not making it back over a mid air entanglement

  • I didn't realize there was so much math you had to do in your head before you made your first scariest jumpy it ever done in your life.... Still want to do it but I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to study on skydiving first and then I'll do it cuz like she said I want to make my experience amazing not terrifying with broke bones pretty much WoW I feel like there should be someone up there saying okay go go go go go no one person at time and then if they see it's not safe they said turn it around but if you have to depend on yourself I suppose watching her videos would be very self-sufficient thank you for having these videos you made me scared for skydiving now but in all the right ways my idea was to just get up there and jump and as you put it is probably not the best idea to do that so thank you I appreciate it and I will be studying more videos that you put out there thank you so when I do it my experience and my daughter's experience will be the best experience possible. 🤓👩‍🏫👩‍🎓

  • Hi Catherine, as always a great video, thanks for that. What to do in case the sky is completely covered by clouds? How can you spot? And by spotting before the jump won't we risk exceeding 8 seconds before the next skydiver and so delaying the jumps after mine? Should everyone spotting or just the first one? Thank you!

    @michelecherchi154@michelecherchi154 Жыл бұрын
    • Great questions. If the sky is completely covered, by rules, you can't jump. You shouldn't even be allowed to be in the plane. Spotting can be done very quickly. You can train your eyes on the map of the landing zone prior to board. So no it won't affect the 8sec. Every jumper should do it becasue the first one may have been wrong or if you are last, maybe it took to much time for the first one to get out and you can be way pass the LZ. You can then ask for another pass.

With the technology modern skydivers lost the basic ...They forget that we spot the apparent correct point of leaving the plane with the normal of the floor of the plane ...at 10 000' they make a mistake of 1 nm ...check before the angle with the horizon ... Do not forget the inversion of the wind ...funny when you realise that at the opening ...better to have a phone ..darling can you come I am just 3 miles from the airport . In the 70 ’ we were good in cross-country gear were more heavier that now !!!
