  • Doctor Who reviews are in for Ncuti Gatwa's first few episodes as the doctor with a 100% fresh score. Taking on David Tennant as a therapy figure, it's no wonder he's started telling the audience to not watch and touch grass. But with new clips, interviews and reviews, we now get to see exactly what everyone expected. These Doctor Who reviews are for an entirely new rebooted Doctor Who, so much that even the BBC and Disney have titled it Doctor Who Series 1. Whether this new series 1 reboot will even continue past Ncuti Gatwa's run as the Doctor remains to be seen. As the BBC and Disney seem to be shrinking the audience rather than expanding it. Can Doctor Who even continue under Disney's leadership, because while the BBC may not need viewers to survive, Disney+ does. But what do you think of what you saw? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

    • Did Russell change, or is it just that he knows he can get away with this now? If he had pitched or attempted to do any of this when the show restarted (at least to the extent he's going at it now), it would never have been green lit or continued beyond whenever he started putting it in. But we can see him putting bits of this kind of stuff in when he could when he was the show runner the first time, no? I don't find any of this surprising at all.

He never believed in Communism and Marx. They were merely paths to power to be exploited. Indeed, Stalin created a State Capitalist country where he was The Chairman, with many Board Members (Politburo), Managers (The Communist Party members) that used Money (Capital). Where Soviets worked for wages and paid taxes. Board Members were given Capitalist Monopoly powers over entire segments of the economy. And just like early Monopolists in Western Capitalism, fought each other for control of segments of the Soviet economy. Communist societies dispense with money (Capital). Money is CAPITAL from which CAPITALISM is derived. People need to read their Marx to understand that Communism / Marxism DOES NOT USE CAPITAL (MONEY). If they say or believe otherwise, they are ignorant.

But his theory's got a lot of traction in academia (partly because media theory is realitively new field and he was one of the first to come up with theories, but mainly I supect because he's a ardent Marxist) and have been very influential in the sort of degree courses that lead you to a career in the media and as they also have no real experince dealing with real people either, they can't reconcile why fans just don't blindly accept what they are told like they were taught they would at uni. • I'm currently following a quirky SF series called "on the nature of predators" that uses the idea that many alien species had their histories rewritten and genes adjusted to make them controllable and meek to good effect. The only reasons humans escaped that treatment was (spoiler) partly because they thought we had already blown ourselves to dust with atomics.

    • Thing about Smith and Capaldi is that they proved themselves despite the initial backlash. You know who didn’t? Chibnall, Whittaker, Davies pt. 2, and now Gatwa. Were they actually good, people would have warmed to them as they did other initially controversial showrunners and actors in the past. But they didn’t, and they lashed out for not achieving what they assumed would be guaranteed success.

  • I wonder if part of their dubious marketing strategy of "Any longtime fans that don't like our new stuff are bigots and not welcome!" is meant to attract the activist types. Maybe Disney and similar studios expect them to be like, "That studio is taking a very bold stand against Hate. I definitely will be watching this show that's made by people that don't want bigoted fans!". If that's the intent, it hasn't worked yet. And I personally have never come across anyone that's started watching a show for that reason.

    • I agree. Tennant was my fav nu-who doctor until fairly recently but at this point, he's now my least fav, so much so, it saddens me that I know I won't even be able to rewatch his seasons bc he's tainted them for me. I'll rewatch Eccleston, Smith & Capaldi and Torchwood. I wish I could separate the art from the artist, but it doesn't work that way for me sadly. I like my sci-fi and fantasy shows to be an utter escape of reality, (which is the exact reason why I love sci-fi & fantasy shows!) not a hit-you-over-the-head-preach-at-you-experience bc some actors have to espouse their ideology far and wide, so everytime you see their face you're reminded of how self-righteous they are, no thanks.

And if you are going with the fact that he had children, you need to include the whole Captain Jack stuff. And because Time Lords can change gender means that they are open to gay/lesb relationships with their partner.

Do you not just think there's gay men out there who just prefer men but do not want the perception of gay men to be eccentric and camp all the time? Tennants Doctor had a few female love interests.
