Great highlights, but why not include the double-bounce moment in 3rd set? (Should have been at 4:25 ) It was crucial moment and obnoxiously unfair from the umpire!
It was. Rune got broken by Djikovic in Rome in a similar situation. The ref made a mistake in both cases and both times the players complained. It happens to everyone
this was a sliding doors situation that could have changed the outcome of the whole match and that shitty little cheat kept the mouth shut and got the point with an obvious double bounce. So hard to not dislike him.

Rune solid??? Did you see the entire match?? He threw away the 4th set and was disconnected from the game in other parts. That would have cost him the match against a more challenging opponent. And what a stunning lack of sportsmanship from Rune in a point wrongly disallowed for Cerundolo after a double bounce! Shame
Rune was struggling big time, he had some issues and was far from his best for most of the match. Still managed to win, what a fighter. I hope he will be alright for the next match, he is the best player in the bottom part of the draw when he is at his best. But he can’t afford another clumsy performance if he wants to have a chance to reach the final.

Most modern match I've ever seen. Two of the fastest Players and nevertheless always finding a hit leaving the opponent 5m away from the ball. Very impressing.

They do not want to show it because umpire made a mistake and because we all know that in 2023 there can and should be mandatory hawk eye in all 250 and up tournaments! This had nothing to do with Rune but everything to do with the quality of the umpires and the lack of technology implementation.

At either 3 all or 4 all in the third set. I personally think Cerundolo was robbed and eventually lost the set because of this mistake. I can't say he would have won the match but at 2 sets to 1 lead set 4 might have gone his way too. 🤷🏻♂️

Plus, Rune by broken by Djokovic because of a similar situation in Rome. He complained that it was a clear ref error, but it didn't matter. And Djokovoc said nothing. Probably Djokovic thought it was not out, but wasn't 100% sure... so didn't want to play ref if not 100% sure. I imagine Rune would have bet on this one too be a double bounce if he had to pick, but probably wasn't 100% sure, so decided to leave it to the ref. I think that is fair enough. Either way, these things happen to everyone, and if it didn't stop Rune from beating the mighty Djokovic, then I certainly also don't think that one point was what held Cerundolo from winning.

Wow! Best match of the tournament so far. A proper contest with two great players. I like the kid Rune . . . he has multiple slams in him if he keeps focused, hungry and fit. The only one I can see beating him is either Alcaraz or Djokovic (I know he's beaten Novak twice in the recent past, but the Serbian wasn't playing as well as he is right now). Intriguing and exciting times ahead at RG. Love it!

Why are the players allowed to consult their coaches now during the game? It's an awful decision to change because now we're going to constantly get young players crying/shouting at their coaches/boxes over and over .. pretty much like we saw today. Rune is terrible for it but the decision to allow communication between player and team now means this type of immature crap is going to be rampant. Terrible decision.
It was most certainly a match to FORGET! One of the worst I've watched this year. I've been hoping for Rune to go far in this tournament, but this was far below his best, and what annoys me, is that fatigue and injury so often plays a role in his matches, like today with the "legs" (or whatever it was). Cerundolo deserved to win - now my hope is that Rune will get back to his game and show us what we know he is capable of.
True, Runes body language and play due to his attitude was so bad/annoying in the 4th set, I had to stop watching
Quite an extraordinary match, one of those at beautiful Suzanne Lenglen Court! I congratulate to both, but I feel sorry for Cerundulo and Rune must have known for his double bounce from 3rd set..Also, he should have been warned for coaching there was too much obvious interaction during 4th set..

The English commentators missed Rune shouting out several times that his legs were gone, from the middle of the third set. How they missed this I have no idea, because clearly wasn't running freely. How Holger won, also I have no idea?
This seems to happen most long matches for Rune. I notice it most matches he plays… looks stiff anything after 2-3 hours.

It wasn't a great match in terms of quality of tennis alot of unforced errors from both particularly from Rune making over 70 if either player had played there best tennis they would have probaby won easily in terms of drama tho the final set was excellent had no idea what was going to happen next or who was going to win

This match was only "exiting" because it was long and both players made lots of errors so they kept each other in the match. Otherwise, it was a low standard match. I dont know how Cerundulo seriously think that he can get away with an average first serve speed of 150km/h.

I don't think i has been a good match. Too many mistakes. Rune has been out for a whole set and Cernundolo has not been able to win. 😔
did they resolve what happened at that crucial point leading to 4:1 rune in the fourth set? there was a double bounce on runes side, but rune got the point because a ball kid was supposed to have moved too early.

Cerundolo was too scary to win
Rune plays his worse match in the tournament and still wins, unbelievable. Cerundolo clearly played better today and won more points than Rune, but somehow Rune pulls himself together when the stakes are really high. He'll loose against Ruud if he doesn't improve dramatically.

Regarding the double bounce in third set: Rune stopped playing after the double bounce but the umpire still penalized Cerundolo for hindrance. Nothing Rune could do about that.

Djokovic broke Rune in a similar situation in Rome. Rune complained about the decision and the pictures showed it was clearly a ref mistake but he still got broken. It happens to everyone

I like Rune, he's very good, and all of that, but, sorry, I just simply can't be rooting for someone with such a lousy sportsmanship. Him not saying anything about the double bounce got the break for him and changed the whole momentum, Cerundolo kept his cool and remained calm, what a good lad he is, props to him, and as for Rune, I wish he meets Karma as soon as possible. I understand he is competitive, but, this is actually cheating.
