六字大明咒,又稱「六字真言」或「六字大光明咒」,六字大明咒的全文,僅六字「嗡嘛呢叭咪吽」(Om Ma Ni Pad Me Hum),意指對悲憫和智慧的稱頌。是觀世音菩薩願力及所加持的,故此也被稱為觀世音菩薩心咒。
