If he had used his staff, he would have blown the hell out of the mountain he was on.

- His staff increases his strength by five times. So, Orsted's gate cracked without it. And I think it would have been broken if Rudeus had used his staff

- The issue is that there wasn't enough time to retrieve his staff. Orsted defeated Ruijurd in seconds it probably would have been enough to unshackle the staff but Orstead wouldn't have stopped to fling Eris aside. He would have killed Rudeus on the spot then flung Eris to the side. It was a lose lose for the party.
