Nhl Edmonton oilers vs seattle kraken highlights were wild last night. The evander kane hat trick and overtime goal winner will get all the headlines, but this vincent desharnais play was absolutely baffling. Kraken vs oilers highlights overall will be extremely fun for fans of both teams to watch, but the game itself was top notch entertainment. Connor mcdavid scored a goal and leon draisaitl had a couple points, but that was far from the main stroyline. Stay tuned to this channel for recaps of nhl hockey highlights as well as discussion of news and trade rumors and interesting moments like this. Nhl 2023

My favorite own goal was Laine absolutely roofing one past Helleybuck in a game featuring winnipeg against the oilers
Yeah Laine really put the effort in! Felt kinda bad for the guy but it was hilarious..
I've had that happen in my league when I was younger, I was on net just made a save and we were clearing the zone, but instead of our guy skating out of the zone he turned and rocket it right by me top shelf and I just looked at him like "huh"
That one was so funny because the commentators were trying to say he was attempting to clear the puck. He's a goal scorer and muscle memory just took over 😂
@nukualofa6957 When I played one of our forwards slapped the puck into their zone on a delayed penalty. It went off one of there defensemens kneecaps and straight back, past our whole team into our empty net.
I 'member that goal
“Oh F*ck 😬” - Penalty Box Guy, 2023
I want to travel to the multiverse timeline where that puck went into the net to see the reaction from the hockey community. Absolute insanity hahaha I loved everyone's reaction, especially the NHL penalty box guy
Definitely swapping coaches again.
I’m not a Oilers fan but this team alongside the Canuks are sooooooo fun to watch
canucks vs bruins finale part 2
@@TheEpicEndermanTVI’d put money on the Canucks making the final before the Bruins.
@@deanmalkewich2366 ya
eh dont overlook them@@deanmalkewich2366
I’m not an oilers fan either but I just can’t NOT watch them when they’re playing when mine isn’t
Marc Bergevin own goal was crazy. He catch the puck then throw it in his own net.
Give Vinny some time. He improved drastically from last year, the guy is important to the team. So thankful that didn't go in though lol
That's the kind of play that derails a guy too. Especially playing in a market like Edmonton.
He hasn't improved drastically from last year. Where is the evidence of this?
@@tjnholmes well he hasn't been sent down to the ahl. Last year he was sent down a few times
He’s a very good defensive defenceman
I thought he got worse LMAO he’s the worse defensemen I’ve ever seen on the oilers blue line and I don’t think he’s gonna get any better oilers will never win with that guy on the blue line
Desharnais with the Oilers season on his stick 😂
Steve Smith? Maybe b4 your time
Oilers are always chaotic for better or for worse
Marc Bergevin throwing the puck in his own net has to be one. Also you can’t forget Loui Ericssons first “goal” as a Canuck that was funny and summed up his contract in Vancouver
I think Steve Smith has the worst own goal in NHL history and its not even close
@@lamborghiniperlini1710 I wouldn’t say the worst own goal as in how he put it in the net, I would say it was the most costly own goal in history. Don’t get me wrong. It’s a bad goal.
Was looking for this clip, thanks for covering it ^^
Only been in attendance for one own goal- last season, Oilers vs. Kraken, when Eeli Tolvanen was trying to knock the puck away from (I think) Zach Hyman, and knocked it right past his own netminder. First time I've openly LOL'ed at a hockey game.
Edmonton has a monopoly on crazy own goals like Steve Smith, Laine, Kris Russell.
I recall the Canucks' Lars Lindgren scoring an own goal against the Oilers way back in 1982 to tie the game at 3 with nine seconds to go. Back when games could end in ties. That was also when the Oilers seemed to get all the luck, unlike now. Couldn't find a video of it, but an article that mentioned it.
If THAT goes in the season was over.
Didn't know about this play, thanks for showing it off boss!
aw man i saw that obyrne goal.. you could see the moment he astro projected his soul the hell out of there. i think his soul was in colorado since about that moment
Going way back, I saw the game (on TV) when Rob Ramage scored into his own empty net on a delayed penalty vs. the Islanders. It's best known because Billy Smith got credit for the goal, so it was the first goalie goal in NHL history. Also trivia note, it's the only time a goalie scored in a game that his team lost. The obvious reason being that all other goalie goals were scored with the goalie who scored being on the team that was already ahead in the last minute with the other team's goalie pulled and the goalie goal put his team 2 or more goals ahead with less than a minute to play.
Years ago, similar thing happened with the Florida Panthers, and the goal was called back saying because the defending player forced the Panthers player to move the puck back into the net, it didn't count. It was crazy, I'll have to look up when it was. Pretty sure Stephen Weiss was the player that put it in the open net.
Where do you get your footage for these videos? Do you screen record the game on your computer?
Favourite own goal is marc bergevin throwing the puck in his net🤣
they say football is a game of inches because it is I've never once heard that expression used to describe hockey lol
It’s the old broken clock analogy.
Oiler's Steve Smith 1986. Own goal in OT to losse the Smythe's final
The play was crazy
My favorite own-goal happened when I was playing minor hockey. First up an honorable mention, I saw a goalie literally step out of the way of a dump in and watch it go into the goal... He didn't realize that it doesn't count as icing if the puck ends up in the net. Not exactly an own-goal, but it may as well be. For the actual own-goal: Our goalie made an amazing splits save, except he couldn't actually do the splits properly and ended up stuck in the pose with the puck sitting loose right by his toe... So our defenseman rushes up to shoot the puck away... And snipes it perfectly top corner of our own net. It was such a nice shot and such a bizarre situation that it was honestly hard to be mad.
Big Vinny D, definitely having his share of growing pains but he definitely has potential to work with. In the end you cant teach 6'7"
@@3ormore660 hopefully we get a good deal.
@3ormore660 we're lean on beef too. If we can well get back something we can use straight away. That's the trades they'll go for. Unless he needs to be packaged with Campbell in order to get someone to buy his contract. We're up tight against the cap and man power tbh.
@3ormore660 buy out would be cheaper if we wait for the season to end in the long run.
philippe furrer own goal at world championships 2008. hammers it home
I'm definitely NOT an Oil fan and was actually enjoying the implosion, but even I was yelling at my TV, "What the Hell is he doing!?"
Favorite own goal was an a AHL game that went into overtime. Manitoba Moose got a penalty, Chicago Wolves pull its goalie, however the one Chicago player inadvertently shot the puck across the ice into it's own net, which resulted with the Manitoba Moose goalie credited with the goal. Look up 'AHL goalie scores OT goal'
I remember this happened to the Caps last season with Kuznetsov and one of their D-men lmao
Nobuhiro Sugawara has to be there with those own goals, at a world championship to boot. The guy actually celebrated the first few seconds.
I was watching this game, but I don't remember seeing this happen. Wow!
Loui Erickson never recovered from his delayed penalty own goal.
This one goes back a little ways but I remember when Dan hamhuis put on in on luongo, went of both skates and trickled in 🤦♂️
I feel like skinners performance was overshadowed this game. He actually looked very solid.
1986 Oilers playoffs Steve Smith (sorry Steve) but like Dick Irvin said, Doug Harvey apparently put one in his net as well.
Doug Harvey's was the cup winning goal in OT in the seventh game of the finals. Can't have a more diabolical situation than that.
I couldn’t find the nurse save. Thank you.
Lol... My face froze like this for a full minute 😮
The best ever is that hockey player celebrating an own goal for 2 seconds in that Japan league or something.
Zach dead ass said wtf in his face 😂😂
The Ryan O’Byrne one was quite funny.
The box officials’ reaction 😂
We all know what sound he made too
Marc Bergevin 2000 catch and toss in his own net.
one save by Nurse does not make up for the many he caused going in the Oilers net ! or merit his $9.25 Million a year contract 💯
Easy. Steve Smith to lose the 1986 Smythe Division Final. That's also the year I started cheering for the Flames.
Nurse and Kane have been doing so much better. I love it! As an Oilers fan YES I want them to win a cup, but at this point I want a Canadian team to bring the Stanley cup home. It's Canada VS USA!
My favourite own goal was the Statue of Liberty goal.
Most memorable was Bryan McCabe against raycroft for me
Steve Smith gifting Flames their only Cup
wouldnt have been the first time an oiler defensemen put it in his own net, also goes to show how a fortunate bounce can change a game
My buddy and i were ripping on our fans after that Nurse game saving block.
i would just like to say, there an a universe where that goal goes in and edmonton loses this game bad, and its bullshit we are not in that universe.
Have to say Cole Caufield snipe one against the leafs and the leafs fan cheering him on. That one live when I was seating behind the net looked to my right to see that celebration hit different.
I was at the game!
So weird how much shit gets talked about evander Kane and yet the few times I ever tune into an oilers game he’s the one leading the team to victory
yeah it was bad for Vinny to throw it behind him like that but his support should've been more near him since he had 2 Seattle players on him. Vinny should have more awareness of what's happening in the play and that falls on communication of the d core. oilers fans should be ecstatic that we have a coach that actually talks to our d core and makes them communicate and you can sense that since Paul has joined the team.
Talking about this reminds me of the 2010 Olympic gold medal game where before Crosby scored, Scott Niedermeyer almost cost the team the game with an abhorrent giveaway
It would be great if you brought awareness to more of this kind of stuff that happens in the NHL. None of us can watch all games every night, so now and then scenes like these are missing (also many of those scenes aren't even shown in the official NHL recap video (one wonders why)). So it's appreciated if you bring some more light on those kinds of plays. Thank you!
For heaven's sake, highlights are more than just the goals!!
@@marcdimartino9118 Yes, they are, hence my comment. That was my entire point.
@@Kitty-Burton I know. I'm agreeing with you.
Was nurse wearing pants that he just got? I’m pretty sure I saw the tags still on them lol
Someone pulled the pins out of the Oilers voodoo doll
If that would've been an own goal, we would have had to change his name to Vinny Deharsmith.
I consider Patrik Stefan’s missed empty net play to be an own goal and no one can change my mind
Cory Sarich actually swung the stick to slam the puck into the net when he was with the Flames.
Do a video on the Adam Erne hit last night
Not my favorite because it was my own team but def my most memorable was Chris Philips own raperound goal in the 2007 Stanley cup finals
If Kane and Hyman can score, we'll be in good shape. Each of them getting a hatty recently is a good sign
oilers aint leaving
Even the penalty box attendant had a reaction to that STUPID play
Remember this game after game 82
Leaving this here, just to see if they make the playoffs by 1 point😅
Kane is an underrated player
True
Actually, it’s baseball that is said to be a game of inches.
If that own goal goes in, I think that would have been the finishing blow for the Oilers season
The actual holding the puck was absolutely correct...the delayed call was ticking off the Edmonton penalty and expanding the PP at the end. The backhand pass...poorly chosen. But close doesn't count. Look how close Gelinas was to winning the flames a cup...but no, almost in is not in.
I think that Erne did also almost cost them the game. His elbow to the head was a 5+, and that would have sealed the deal also. Oilers are very lucky with that W.
Our defense is terrifying..in a bad way. Bouchard with his weak play, coughing the puck up to wide open players right in front of the net. Ekholm seems weak this year too. Overpaid Nurse. Vinny is good for a couple of costly mistakes a game. Just hard to watch sometimes.
favourite own goal was Paolo Rossi in 1980 against Giovanni Scarapaci ----- oh wait, you mean hockey?
Kane is a beast!
Kraken game stung being a Kraken fan. (Obviously) we actually played really great, Joey Daccord has been INCREDIBLE for us in net. We just need to clean up.
Vinny needs to find a flight back to Bakersfield
Reeeeally helps when the forwards support and don’t fly the zone
I hated that game. How did we sell that!
I literally put on my Evander Kane jersey and then that happened, coincidence? Probably
darnell nurse is not necessarily a bad player. he is just over paid.
Steve Smith has entered the chat *Hold my Beer* Not my favorite
He should have skated to the post and thanked it.
When Seattle went up 3-1, we were like “so Jay was the problem huh?”
They honestly still looked like crap. I know the win says otherwise to some. But watching the full 60, Oilers have a ton of work to do. Number one being a full effort from everyone.
Man, life is all about a few inches.
Number 73 needs to go, but let's be real lots of the defense on the oilers need to go
2004 - It was in
He was holding on to the puck so it would run down the oiler penalty, albeit a mispass i feel like he was doing a good job burning time with his size.
damn
Shades of Steve Smith
That explains a lot about the Oilers...they need a D upgrade.
Luckily for Edmonton, Seattle STINKS this year.
It's gotta be Loui Erickson in his first and what should've been his last game as a canuck. My God he was awful here.
steve smith easily has the worst own goal in NHL history and there is no way its close
I was at the game. He was in the corner and I said... "He's going to fuck this up". He almost did. Love the official vid you included haha!
Should have left Nurse out of this cause he wasn't worth it then and still isn't... might be by the last year of that contract when the cap is 90 million.
Steve smith…86.
Can you say say steve smith
top cheese
